Chapter 108 Save to the End, Send Buddha to the West
by 范氏女子Chapter 108: Once you save someone, see it through; once you escort Buddha, take him all the way west.
"Leave Zai Zai and Niu Niu with me. I’m not busy right now. They can wait in my office—just as long as they don’t run around," Fu Tinghua suddenly suggested.
"Ah? Would that be alright? You’re still on duty."
"It’s fine. My office is private, and no patients come in. It won’t be a problem. Besides, this is a special case—you’re helping that patient find her family. Even if the hospital found out, they’d understand."
After saying this, Fu Tinghua couldn’t help but reach out and gently pat Su He’s head, smiling warmly. "Just make sure you’re careful."
This was the first time Fu Tinghua had ever done something like this, yet Su He felt oddly comforted, as if he’d smoothed her ruffled feathers.
Her anxiety melted away instantly. She looked at him, eyes bright, and said, "Alright, I’ll leave them with you. I’m off now."
"Mm, go ahead."
Fu Tinghua turned to the two children standing behind him and said, "Want to come to Daddy’s office and play? Mommy needs to help that lady find her friend."
Zai Zai, always the responsible one, knew that if their mother took them along, she’d move slower. Without hesitation, he nodded.
Niu Niu, on the other hand, answered excitedly, "Okay! I want to play in Daddy’s office!"
Seeing his daughter’s adorable reaction, Fu Tinghua scooped her up, then reached out to hold Zai Zai’s hand.
Turning back to Su He, he said, "You go ahead—just focus on finding her."
Seeing Zai Zai and Niu Niu trailing obediently behind Fu Tinghua, Su He replied with an "Okay" before turning around and walking out of the hospital.
It wasn’t until Su He was completely out of sight that Zai Zai suddenly turned to Fu Tinghua and said, "Dad, you must treat Mom well, understand?"
His son's grown-up talk made him chuckle. "Dad knows. I'll treat your mom right."
"If you don’t treat Mom well and you two get divorced, Niu Niu and I will go with Mom," Zai Zai threatened.
Niu Niu jumped in, "Yeah, wherever Mom is, I’ll be there too."
Fu Tinghua: "..."
Hearing Zai Zai bring up divorce again, Fu Tinghua’s expression darkened.
"Stop talking nonsense. Mom and Dad won’t get divorced."
"Well, I’ll keep an eye on you from now on anyway." In front of Fu Tinghua, Zai Zai was completely different from how he acted around Su He—acting like a little troublemaker, really annoying his father.
"Fine, you’re welcome to supervise me anytime," Fu Tinghua said with a smile, ruffling his son’s hair before leading them toward his office.
Meanwhile, Su He easily caught a cab as soon as she left the hospital, heading straight for the address Wen Yuru had given her.
Upon arriving at the Shi family residence, Su He hesitated for a moment as she took in the large, impressive gates of the estate. But she quickly gathered her courage and stepped forward to knock.
Before long, the gates swung open.
An elderly man stood at the entrance, looking puzzled at Su He since he didn’t recognize her. "May I ask who you are? What brings you here?"
"I’m looking for Shi Jin," Su He replied.
"What business do you have with Young Master?" the old man asked again.
Young Master? This family must be well-off. The person before her was likely a butler or something?
"It's not me looking for him, it's Wen Yuru. Is your Young Master home? If he is, could you please tell him that Wen Yuru needs his help?"
Upon hearing Wen Yuru's name, the butler’s face tightened slightly, but he still replied, "Wait here. I'll go inform our Young Master."
He didn’t invite Su He in, but he left the door open.
Su He just waited outside the Shi family’s gate.
These rich families probably still clung to old ways—she could understand that.
Soon, someone came out.
Hearing footsteps, Su He turned and saw a well-dressed man, but he looked thin and sickly, walking toward her.
"Hello, are you Yu Ru’s friend?" the man asked.
"Yes."
"What does she want?" he inquired.
"She’s in the hospital right now. Why not come see her and ask her yourself? She just told me to find you and said she needs your help," Su He answered truthfully.
"She’s sick?" the man asked anxiously.
"It’s worse than that," Su He thought to herself.
But she didn’t air others’ dirty laundry. "You should go see for yourself."
If Wen Yuru asked him for help, they must be close.
"Okay, give me a sec."
With that, the man turned and went back inside.
Soon after, a car rolled up to Su He.
The window came down, revealing Shi Jin’s face. "Get in," he said.
Su He hopped into the back seat.
"You’re Yu Ru’s friend?" Shi Jin suddenly asked once they were on the road.
"Uh... we just met today, but yeah," Su He said awkwardly.
Shi Jin fell silent.
"What happened? Is she okay?" Shi Jin pressed.
"She’s fine now, in a regular room."
Hearing this, Shi Jin grew even more anxious, weaving through traffic to reach the hospital as quickly as possible.
Fortunately, Su He had once lived abroad and had experienced close calls before. Most people would’ve been scared shitless riding with Shi Jin.
After parking, they rushed to Wen Yuru’s room.
As they neared the door, Su He said, "Mr. Shi, I won't go in. You two should have a good talk."
Shi Jin found Su He's manner quite pleasant, but in his haste, he didn't dwell on it and simply replied, "Yeah, thanks."
After seeing Shi Jin enter the ward and close the door behind him, Su He couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.
She turned and went straight to Fu Tinghua's office.
After all, someone was still waiting for her.
Su He made her way to Fu Tinghua's office and, upon reaching the door, didn't enter immediately. Instead, she knocked and waited until she heard Fu Tinghua say, "Come in," before pushing the door open.
Fu Tinghua was sitting at his desk, going over patient files.
The white coat he wore made his usual coolness seem gentler, and his sharp features looked even more defined as he lowered his head.
The two children were sitting on the sofa, playing with toys a nurse had given them.
No one expected Su He to return so soon, thinking it was just another doctor or nurse looking for Fu Tinghua.
After all, several people had already come to see their dad just moments ago—the kids were used to it.
That was until Su He spoke up, calling, "Zai Zai, Niu Niu."
Hearing their mother's voice, the kids looked up excitedly. Once they saw it was her, they cried out, "Mommy!"
Then they ran over, each hugging one of her legs.
Fu Tinghua was also surprised she had returned so quickly—it had barely been half an hour.
"That fast? Did you find them?" Fu Tinghua stood up and walked toward Su He as he asked.
