Chapter 181 The Supplier Deal Is Done
by 范氏女子Chapter 181: Supplier Deal Secured
Fu Yanju stared at the divorce certificate in her hand, lost in thought.
Had she really just broken free from that man she once loved and hated?
Even now, it still felt like a dream.
After they ate, Fu Yanju asked Fu Tinghua to join her for a talk in the courtyard.
"Ting Hua, is Chen Zhijie’s crime really that serious? I mean, if it was just that fight with Su He, surely it shouldn’t lead to prison time, right?"
Though Fu Yanju didn’t understand the law well, brawls between villagers were common enough.
She had never heard of anyone getting prison time for such things.
The Chen family kept coming back asking for a letter of pardon, which meant they couldn’t get him out.
But Fu Yanju suspected the situation wasn't that simple.
Fu Tinghua hesitated before answering, "It is serious. The investigation found he was involved in running gambling dens, bribing officials, and assault. And this is a crackdown period—these crimes alone could put him behind bars for over a decade."
His words shocked Fu Yanju to the core.
She knew Chen Zhijie gambled, but not that he ran illegal gambling houses.
"Sis, Chen Zhijie was always rotten to the core. Don’t hold onto any illusions about him," Fu Tinghua warned, thinking she might still have lingering feelings.
"Don’t be silly. How could I still have any illusions about him? I’m just worried the Chen family will keep harassing our family. If that happens, I’d feel terrible letting you all down," Fu Yanju sighed.
"They won’t. Many in the Chen family are also under investigation for bribery. Right now, they’re too busy dealing with their own problems to bother us," Fu Tinghua reassured her.
"So why won’t you let me go home yet?" Fu Yanju asked curiously.
"Because they’ll come begging—for your help."
"My help? What can I do for them?"
"They’ll want you to ask me to help. But unfortunately, there's nothing I can do. The charges against them are solid."
Fu Yanju’s face darkened at his words.
"Hah! In their dreams!"
When Fu Tinghua returned to the room for his afternoon rest, Su He was already lying in bed.
......
"How was your talk with Fourth Sister?" Su He quickly asked.
"We cleared everything up. Anyway, Chen Zhijie won’t weasel out of this one," Fu Tinghua said calmly.
"That bastard," Su He muttered coldly.
Fu Tinghua didn’t respond. After climbing into bed, he drew Su He close and said, "You’ve been looking for a general goods supplier, right? I found you one."
"Really?" Su He brightened.
"Yeah. Remember when I came to get you last time, and Xia Chengan was at the town police station with me? My other friend there—Qi Yunyang."
His brother-in-law works specifically with consumer goods. Here’s his landline number—you can give him a call when the time comes.” Fu Tinghua handed Su He a piece of paper with Qi Yunyang’s brother-in-law’s contact details.
“Got it, thanks.” Su He happily took the paper and said.
“Oh? Just a ‘thank you’ and that’s it?” Fu Tinghua looked into Su He’s eyes and smiled.
Su He: ...
After hesitating for a moment, Su He gave Fu Tinghua a quick peck on the cheek.
“Cheapskate,” Fu Tinghua couldn’t help but laugh.
“How’s that stingy? This isn’t enough?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Since she wouldn’t kiss him, he’d just kiss her instead.
So he planted a quick kiss on Su He’s lips before saying, “Now *that’s* more like it.”
Su He: ... You’re impossible.
Fine, if it’ll shut him up.
Without further hesitation, Su He kissed Fu Tinghua’s lips.
“Let’s get some sleep.”
After the kiss, Su He’s face flushed slightly, so she quickly urged Fu Tinghua to bed.
“Mm, night.”
The afternoon sun was blazing, just like some people’s... enthusiasm.
In the afternoon, Su He went to a payphone to contact Qi Yunyang’s brother-in-law. After a quick chat, they set up a meet.
When the time came, Su He dropped Zai Zai and Niu Niu off with Fu Yanju before heading out.
Qi Yunyang’s brother-in-law chose a European-style café.
Cafés in this era were likely pricey—but she had enough money on her.
There weren’t many customers inside, and Su He immediately spotted a man and woman sitting by the window.
That must be Qi Yunyang’s sister and her husband.
“Hello, are you Mr. Mu and Miss Qi?” Su He approached and asked.
Upon seeing Su He, both of them lit up with surprise.
Their younger brother had suddenly called them yesterday, saying that a very important friend wanted to connect with a supplier and to treat her right.
This was the first time their brother had ever been so insistent about something.
And now here she was—such a beautiful woman. Their brother had never married—was he sweet on her?
“Hello, you must be the friend my brother Yunyang mentioned?” Qi Jiao asked curiously.
Having worked the business scene for years, Su He immediately picked up on the fact that Qi Jiao had the wrong idea.
"No, Mr. Qi must have been referring to my husband—they're good friends. Since I'm opening a store, my husband helped me find someone to connect with bulk suppliers," Su He explained with a smile.
So it was just a misunderstanding. Qi Jiaojiao couldn't hide her disappointment.
Her brother wasn’t getting any younger and still hadn’t settled down.
"Oh, I see. My mistake, sorry about that," Qi Jiaojiao said, a little embarrassed.
"No worries. By the way, my surname is Su—Su He."
"Ah, Miss Su, what kinds of bulk goods are you looking for?"
Most of the conversation was between Qi Jiaojiao and Su He, while Mu Beicheng, Qi Yunyang’s brother-in-law, spoke very little.
"I’d like to carry some household essentials and snacks. Do you have a detailed list with prices? I’d like to take a look."
Seeing that Su He clearly had experience with purchasing inventory, Qi Jiaojiao didn’t hold back and handed her the price list directly.
Su He scanned the prices—the rates were fair, some even better than what she could get from her usual sources.
Watching Su He go over the list so thoroughly, Qi Jiaojiao thought to herself, *What a shame she's already married.*
Su He took out a pen she had brought with her and, after a moment’s hesitation, asked, "Mind if I write on this?"
"Of course," Qi Jiaojiao replied immediately.
"Great, thank you."
Without hesitation, Su He started marking down quantities next to each item on the list.
She finished in no time.
Handing the list back to Qi Jiaojiao, Su He said, "I’ve marked down all the items I need, along with the quantities. Could you check if everything is in stock?"
Qi Jiaojiao looked it over and said everything was in stock.
After a brief pause, she asked, "Miss Su, where is your store located? We’d love to stop by sometime and check out your shop."
