    Chapter 52 Anger

But she didn’t wait for her two children. Instead, Auntie Zhang from the same village called out to her.

"Miss Su! Are you home?" Auntie Zhang called out at Su He’s door.

Hearing this, Su He quickly got up and went outside. When she saw Auntie Zhang, she didn’t recognize her at first.

Auntie Zhang introduced herself, saying, "You must be Miss Su, right? I’m the Zhang family’s second daughter-in-law. Your son got into a scuffle with the Wang boy while playing on the mountain. Now, Old Lady Wang is giving your kid an earful."

"What?!" Su He was shocked, fearing her children were being bullied.

"Come with me quickly. Your two kids are being held by Old Lady Wang and won’t let them go," Auntie Zhang said urgently before leading Su He to the village.

By then, a crowd had gathered to gawk in the village square, and a middle-aged woman’s loud voice could be heard shouting things like "no upbringing" and "pushed my grandson," among other filthy language that made Su He’s heart sink.

When the crowd saw Su He arriving, they parted to let her through.

Her two children stood at the center of the crowd. Zai Zai hung his head, silent, while Niu Niu was tearful but too frightened to sob aloud.

Su He immediately hugged Zai Zai and Niu Niu, asking worriedly, "What happened? Are you okay?"

The moment Niu Niu saw her, she broke down, wailing, "Mommy..."

Su He’s heart clenched at her sobs and quickly comforted her, "It’s okay, it’s okay. Mommy’s here."

But Zai Zai still kept his head down, silent.

Just as Su He was checking him for injuries, Old Lady Wang spoke up.

"Oh, so you’re the mother of these two brats, huh?"

Su He looked up and saw a sharp-featured woman in her fifties, surrounded by several young men and women—likely her sons and daughters-in-law.

"Yes, that’s me. What’s the matter?" Su He asked coldly.

"Your boy shoved my grandson down on the mountain, and he accidentally got a cut on his finger from a branch. Fork over the money," Old Lady Wang demanded, chin jutting.

With her whole clan backing her, she wasn’t afraid Su He would refuse to pay.

Su He glanced at the boy standing beside her, about five years old, who had the same smug look as his granny, like he was untouchable with her around.

"Where is your grandson hurt? Show me," Su He asked.

Without wasting words, Old Lady Wang thrust her grandson’s arm forward for Su He to see.

When Su He saw the wound, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

It was barely a scratch with a speck of blood.

Su He thought, sarcastic, 'Oh yes, very serious.' By the time they got to the hospital, it’d have scabbed over.

But since it was her Zai Zai who had accidentally pushed the Wang boy, she supposed she’d have to cough up some cash.

Just as Su He was about to say something, Zai Zai, standing beside her, tugged her sleeve.

"What's wrong?" Su He asked as she turned her head, only to be stunned by the handprint on Zai Zai's face.

"Mom, I didn't push him. He fell by himself," Zai Zai whispered.

But Su He wasn’t concerned about who pushed whom at that moment. Instead, her expression turned icy as she touched the handprint on Zai Zai’s cheek and asked, "Who hit your face?"

Zai Zai didn’t answer, but his eyes flicked toward old lady Wang behind Su He.

Following his gaze, Su He also turned to look at old lady Wang.

Her eyes were filled with a look that could kill, making old lady Wang’s heart pound in fear.

"What’s the matter? Your grandson pushed mine first. In a panic, I accidentally slapped him. So what? What kid hasn’t been hit by an adult when they were little? I was just teaching your kid a lesson," old lady Wang said, initially a bit guilty but quickly regaining her confidence when she remembered her sons and daughters-in-law standing beside her.

"My child—who gave you the right to hit him or discipline him? Who do you think you are?" Su He sneered.

"You! And who the hell are you?" old lady Wang retorted, squaring her jaw as she glared at Su He.

    Then, something unexpected happened.

Before anyone could react, Su He slapped old lady Wang’s grandson across the face.

"Waaah—" The boy immediately bawled his eyes out.

"What are you doing?!" old lady Wang screeched and charged at Su He.

Su He grabbed old lady Wang’s clothes with one hand and yanked her aside, then threw her down with brutal force.

Old lady Wang hadn’t expected Su He to be so strong. She was helpless and was thrown straight into her sons.

"The fuck you think you’re doing?" Her sons were furious and immediately rushed forward to attack Su He.

Considering old lady Wang’s age, Su He had held back with her—but these young men were fair game.

Shielding her two children behind her, Su He faced the charging sons of old lady Wang, who were trying to overpower her.

Was Su He afraid of them? All those years of taekwondo and sanda training hadn’t been for nothing.

Despite being a woman, she took on several men at once.

The Wang family men were field hands—strong but clumsy. Every time they tried to grab her, Su He dodged and retaliated with swift kicks.

Soon, the men were writhing on the ground in pain, moaning and cursing. The villagers watched but kept their distance.

Someone had already gone to alert the Fu family, who also had many men. No one wanted to offend either side.

"You fucking bitch!" One of the Wang men, lying on the ground, suddenly picked up a rock and chucked it at Su He.

Reacting quickly, Su He rushed forward, wrenched his arm—*pop*—dislocating it.

"Ahhh!" The man howled in pain.

At that moment, the Fu family men, called by Wu Yanhua from the construction site, finally showed up late.

"Su He, you alright?" Fu Dajun shoved through the crowd and asked.

At a glance, Su He was stunned to see several of the Wang brothers lying on the ground, wailing and moaning.

Especially the youngest son of the Wang family, who kept hollering "My arm's broken!"

Seeing that no one was attacking her anymore, Su He quickly walked over to Zai Zai to check the slap mark on his face.

The mark on Zai Zai's face was deep, and half of his face was swollen by now. It was clear that the person who hit him hadn’t pulled their punches, despite him being a child.

"Zai Zai, are you hurt?" Su He asked worriedly as she looked at him.

Strangely enough, Zai Zai hadn’t cried when he was framed for pushing the Wang family’s grandson.

He hadn’t cried when Old Lady Wang slapped him.

He hadn’t cried when the Wang family cornered him and wouldn’t let up.

But when his mother asked if he was hurt, Zai Zai cried.

He let out a loud "Waaah," and his tears flowed like there was no tomorrow.
