Chapter 208: The Fu Couple Brings Durian

When the patient's condition finally stabilized, Fu Tinghua finally let his tense nerves relax.
"Dr. Fu, here’s some water." The nurse beside him immediately handed him water as soon as he paused.
Fu Tinghua took the water casually and said to the doctors nearby, "The patient isn’t out of the woods yet. Keep a close watch—no breaks. I’ll rest for a bit. Call me if anything happens."
Although the director hadn’t dared to disturb him during the surgery, Fu Tinghua could tell just from the situation how important the person on the operating table was.
Someone must have pressured the director—otherwise, he wouldn’t have interrupted the surgery.
Since he couldn’t leave the emergency room yet, Fu Tinghua just propped himself against the wall to rest for a while.
He was running on empty, and after the intense focus required for the surgery, he now felt dizzy with a pounding headache.
"Dr. Fu, want to grab a bite? We’ve already packed food," the same nurse who had handed him water earlier asked again.
When she got no response, she peered at him—Dr. Fu had already fallen asleep.
He must be dead on his feet.
"Don’t disturb Dr. Fu. He needs to crash hard to recover his energy. Let him eat after he wakes up. Just stash the food for now and reheat it whenever he’s ready," the assisting doctor told the nurse.
"Understood." The nurse immediately withdrew her thoughts.
Who wouldn’t fall for a man like Dr. Fu?
His command on the operating table was unreal.
After taking a nap at home at noon, Su He got up to start preparing dinner.
Checking the time, she saw it was nearing 3 PM—Dr. Fu hadn’t come home for lunch today.
Was he okay?
There must have been a code or something, Su He thought.
This was the first time since moving to the city with Dr. Fu that he hadn’t come home for lunch. Strangely enough, she kinda ached for him.
Just then, someone rapped on the courtyard gate.
When Su He opened the door, she saw Fu Dajun and Wu Yanhua standing outside, looking around.
"Su He!" Wu Yanhua’s eyes crinkled shut the moment she saw her.
"Mom, Dad, you’re here! Get in here!" Su He quickly ushered them inside.
"Oh, we just came to deliver durians—we have to head back right away," Fu Dajun hurriedly said.
"You could stay for a few days. No rush."
"No, no, there’s still a boatload of chores waiting at home. After picking durians this morning, your brother and sister-in-law have to start bringing in the wheat in the afternoon. We need to help out, and the kids at home have no one to watch them."
Wu Yanhua had only tagged along for fun, but with the family so busy, she was sheepish for sneaking away.
Seeing that she couldn’t talk them into staying, Su He gave in.
"Alright then, how’s the durian haul this time?" Su He asked.
"Now more and more durians are ripening, so we're picking more and more. This time we picked over a hundred, around one hundred twenty," Fu Dajun said with a sheepish grin.
After speaking, he asked worriedly, "There are so many—will we sell them all?"
Durians are so expensive; it’d be such a waste if no one bought them.
"They'll sell, don't worry. How about this—drop half off at home and haul the rest to the shop."
The shop can't hold that many durians, and with over a hundred, the whole shop would reek of durian.
Su He got everyone pitching in to unload the large bags of durians.
"Grandpa! Grandma!"
"Nana! Papa!"
At that moment, the three kids heard the commotion and came out to see.
"Hey, kids, just playing around? We just dropped off some stuff—gotta head back to the village soon," Wu Yanhua said to them with a smile.
After unloading, Su He took everyone to the shop, leaving the kids at home.
Starting a business is crazy busy—there’s no time to fuss over the kids, and it's unavoidable.
As soon as they arrived at the shop, Su He hopped out of the car first.
Wu Yanhua was dumbstruck when she saw the sleek, spotless storefront.
This—
Was this really the shop her little daughter-in-law opened? She’d never seen such a gorgeous storefront in her life.
And the shop was packed—business was through the roof.
Wen Qing was the first to notice Su He. Today, she and Su Shiming were taking turns at the cash register, truly experiencing the feeling of counting cash till their fingers ached.
"Su He, what did you bring?" Wen Qing asked.
At that moment, Wu Yanhua, who had just gotten out of the car, also saw Wen Qing and couldn't help but greet her, "Oh, in-laws!"
Only then did Wen Qing notice Wu Yanhua, who looked a little sun-worn and lean.
"Long time no see!" Wen Qing said excitedly.
"Yes, it really has been too long. You’ve aged backward!" Wu Yanhua said honestly.
Perhaps because her relationship with her daughter had improved recently and she no longer worried as much about her, she’d lost that worn-out look.
Moreover, Su He had given Wen Qing special skincare stuff—though not in their original packaging.
The original bottles were too flashy to give as-is.
Instead, she poured the lotions into ordinary bottles.
She told Wen Qing that these were her beauty hacks.
What woman doesn’t wanna look good? So Wen Qing applied them every day, and now her skin had become brighter and smoother.
"Aww, you think so?" Wu Yanhua's compliment made Wen Qing couldn’t help grinning.
She glanced at Wu Yanhua's weather-beaten skin, wanting to boast that her daughter's skincare products had really worked for her.
But then she thought, what if Su He hadn’t given any to her mother-in-law? What if Wu Yanhua started overthinking it?
Besides, Wu Yanhua spent all day doing farm work—it was only natural for her skin to be darkened by the sun.
Still, she seemed much more energetic than before.
Wen Qing looked around and finally found something to compliment. "Yanhua, you look so much more lively now than before."
"Oh, you think so?" Wu Yanhua grinned from ear to ear.
How could she not be doing so well? Just think—the durian profits these past few months had already surpassed what their entire family used to earn in a year.
"I owe a lot of this energy to Su He. Your Su He has really changed for the better now."
Wu Yanhua, as if finding a kindred spirit, began praising Su He nonstop.
Hearing this, Wen Qing couldn’t help but marvel.
In the past, Wu Yanhua couldn’t hide her disdain whenever she saw her daughter.
But back then, because their daughter had pressured Fu Tinghua to marry, Su Shiming and Wen Qing were too ashamed to object, no matter how much Wu Yanhua disliked Su He.
To think that in just a year, she’d come to be so fond of Su He now?
