    Chapter 166: That Confident?

After hearing Su He's words, the two women gaped at her in shock.

"Wh-what did you just say?" one of them stammered.

"What were *you* saying? Got nothing better to do than gossip all day? If I hear it again, I’ll report this to the hospital. Do family members’ actions affect the doctors there?"

The two women were fuming when they realized Su He was threatening them.

*They* weren’t the only ones—why pick on *us*?

"What positions do your family members hold at the hospital? What are their names?" Fu Tinghua cut in.

His clear defense of Su He made the women freeze. This was Dr. Fu—the Deputy Director.

No matter how young he was, he was still the hospital’s deputy director. He could fire two people over their family’s gossiping just like that.

Already feeling guilty for talking behind Su He’s back, the women were even more panicked now that Fu Tinghua had stepped in.

They immediately backed down and offered apologies.

    "S-sorry..."

"We’re sorry, we won’t say anything again."

Mumbling their apologies, they hurried off with their kids.

Once they were gone, Fu Tinghua beamed at Su He. "My wife is amazing."

"These kinds of people? I can shut them down easy."

    Busybodies everywhere—so annoying.

"Don’t let it bother you. Let’s go home—it’s time for a nap." He ruffled Su He’s hair gently.

Back home, Su He told Fu Tinghua she was taking the kids to visit her parents that afternoon.

"Alright, should I meet you there after work? I can drive over and pick you up," Fu Tinghua replied.

"Sounds good. Sis, do you want to come with me to my parents’ place?" Su He asked Fu Yanju, who was nearby.

"I... I won’t go. I was thinking of taking Wan’er to buy some clothes this afternoon—she’s running out of things to wear," Fu Yanju said awkwardly.

"Alright, be careful then." With that, Su He took the two kids upstairs for their nap.

Fu Tinghua’s shift started at three, and it was only around one now, so he could catch an hour’s nap.

"Sis, I’m going to take a nap too," he said to Fu Yanju.

    "Yeah, go on."

Once everyone had gone upstairs, Fu Yanju exhaled.

She wondered how things were back home. Had the Chens caused any trouble for the Fu family?

Getting Zai Zai and Niu Niu to sleep was easy—whether at noon or night, they’d be out like a light within minutes of lying down.

After closing the children’s door, Su He slipped into her room.

Fu Tinghua was already lying in bed with his eyes closed.

Hearing movement, he opened his eyes and sat up when he saw it was Su He.

“Are Zai Zai and Niu Niu asleep?” Fu Tinghua asked.

“Yes,” Su He replied as she walked toward the bed.

As soon as she got into bed, Fu Tinghua immediately turned and pulled her close.

“Did you find a renovation contractor at the market today?” Fu Tinghua asked.

“Tell you what, it was tough finding a decent one.”

Su He told him about everything that had happened to her at the market earlier.

Fu Tinghua thought for a moment and replied, “Renovation work takes a long time, they hold back payments, and there’s always the risk of having to redo things. Plus, most regular workers wouldn’t even recognize the stuff you want installed—they wouldn’t dare take the risk.”

“Exactly, so I’m lucky to have found a skilled renovation master. Just wait—once my shop is done, it’ll be the most eye-catching one on the street. It’s gonna be packed for sure,” Su He said proudly.

Seeing his wife so adorable, Fu Tinghua couldn’t help but stroke her cheek. “That sure of yourself?”

“Absolutely! Though, I still haven’t found suppliers yet,” Su He added, her voice tinged with concern.

“Actually, I’ve never quite understood—what exactly are you going for with this shop? What do you plan to sell? That way, I can ask around for you,” Fu Tinghua asked seriously.

“I want to open a supermarket, selling daily necessities like rice, oil, and groceries, along with snacks and drinks. And out front, I’ll set up a durian stand. You’ll see once it’s done.”

Su He wasn’t sure if supermarkets existed in this era, but she hadn’t seen any in her area yet.

“I’ll be looking forward to it then. Just let me know if you need any help.”

“It’s still early. The heavy work comes after the shop’s renovated—then you’ll have to help with the heavy lifting.”

“Deal. Now get some rest. Aren’t you taking Zai Zai and Niu Niu to your parents’ place this afternoon?”

The couple drifted off in each other's arms, and their quiet nap time slipped away.

    ......

In the afternoon, Su He took Zai Zai and Niu Niu back to her parents’ house, loaded down with gifts and goodies.

She really needed to hurry up and get her driver’s license.

Not having a car was such a pain.

Su Shiming and Wen Qing lit up with joy to see their daughter and grandchildren return.

“When… when did you get back to the city?”

Wen Qing immediately swept up Zai Zai, while Su Shiming scooped up Niu Niu.

“Just yesterday. We’ll be staying in the city long-term now, so you’re welcome anytime,” Su He answered with a smile.

“We can’t be those meddlesome in-laws always underfoot.” Though she said that, Wen Qing couldn’t suppress her growing smile.

“That’s no trouble at all. Besides, your little girl here is fixing to open her own business soon. You’ll have to come see when you have time.”

“Really? What kind of business?” Su Shiming couldn’t help but ask.

“You’ll see when the time comes. It’s hard to describe right now.”

"Don't you go blowing through Ting Hua's family savings, child," Wen Qing couldn't help but say.

Her daughter had always been a bit scatterbrained—starting a business? No one in their family had a head for business.

"Oh, relax, it's under control. Actually, Mom, I need a favor today," she added.

"What kind of favor?" Wen Qing asked curiously.

It was rare for her daughter to ask her for anything.

"Remember that box of embroidery I took from you last time? Someone really liked your work, so they asked me to see if you could embroider this for them," she said, handing Wen Qing the design.

Su He then showed Wen Qing the client's requested design.

Wen Qing took the rolled paper Su He handed her and unrolled it—her jaw dropped.

    The painting stretched on forever.

It featured countless landscapes and figures, that even Su Shiming was left speechless.
