Chapter 237: Is Mom Going Back to Sleep with Dad Again?
by 范氏女子Chapter 237: Is Mommy Going Back to Daddy’s Bed Tonight?
The next day, when Fu Tinghua returned, a truck loaded with durians followed behind him.
He arrived at exactly 2:30 in the afternoon, when Su He was at the shop.
At that time, there weren’t many customers in the store, and Su He was lost in thought when she suddenly saw her husband, Dr. Fu, climbing out of the driver's seat.
He looked so handsome that Su He couldn’t help but melt a little.
She darted out from behind the cashier counter and ran up to Fu Tinghua, smiling as she asked, “Why are you back so early?”
Fu Tinghua gazed at his wife, and found himself a little dazed.
When he first fell for Su He, she still had some extra weight, but he had been utterly captivated by her back then.
But now, seeing how beautiful her face and figure had become—
He had to hold on to her tighter.
“Yeah, I missed you,” Fu Tinghua said to Su He with a smile.
It was a completely unexpected answer, and Su He was flustered by his flirtatious words. “Why are you suddenly saying things like that?”
How embarrassing!
The two of them were still completely in the honeymoon phase.
Fu Tinghua had been back in Shangyao Village for three days and two nights; this small separation made their reunion sweeter.
“I’m just telling the truth,” Fu Tinghua replied, his eyes locked on Su He.
“I get it, stop saying more,” Su He whispered into his ear.
Fu Tinghua chuckled at her adorable reaction and didn’t push further with flirtation.
The two of them worked with the driver to unload the durians, and after settling the delivery fee, the driver left.
Previously, only the Wu family in the village had a truck for deliveries, so Su He and her husband had never shopped around for hauling rates—they simply paid whatever the Wu family asked.
After all, they were fellow villagers, and they trusted that the Wu family wouldn’t rip them off too badly.
But Su He was wrong—the Wu family had actually charged them three bucks over the going rate in town.
When Fu Tinghua filled her in on what had happened in the Fu family over the past two days, Su He couldn’t help but praise him.
“Nice work! They had it coming. If you go easy on thieves, more people will come to steal our durians. Dr. Fu, this is why I like you—you don’t let people manipulate you with guilt. Why should we spare them just because they’re from the same village? If they’re from the same village, why did they steal from us? Why not steal from another village instead?”
As she arranged the durians on the counter for sale, Su He ranted to Fu Tinghua.
Fu Tinghua laughed at her rant, busy placing durians as he replied, “Yeah, every word is gold.”
“Dr. Fu, you’re brushing me off,” Su He grumbled.
“I mean it.”
As the two chatted while working, Niu Niu suddenly walked out of the shop.
After spending yesterday’s noon at the store with Su He, the child no longer wanted to go home alone for naptime—she only wanted to stick with Su He.
"Daddy, you're back!" Niu Niu excitedly ran over and hugged Fu Tinghua's leg.
"Yes, did you miss me?" Fu Tinghua gently rubbed his daughter's head, smiling warmly.
This was completely different from the calculating, smile-that-hides-a-dagger expression he had when dealing with Wu Qing and his gang.
"I missed you, Daddy. Now that you're back, does that mean Mommy has to share the bed with you again?" Niu Niu looked up and asked with innocent curiosity.
Fu Tinghua: "......"
Su He, witnessing this, couldn't help but let out a laugh.
Fu Tinghua turned to look at Su He, who was highly amused, shook his head helplessly, and replied, "Yes. Mommy and Daddy sleep together."
"Oh, okay." That meant she couldn't cuddle with her snuggly, sweet Mommy tonight.
"When I went back to the village this time, I ran into Liangchuan's uncle in town. He asked for our address and said he’d come to the city later to visit you and Zai Zai," Fu Tinghua said, instantly diverting Niu Niu's attention.
"Wow~ Really? When is Brother Liangchuan coming?" Niu Niu widened her eyes in excitement.
"Probably in a couple of days. Yesterday, I met Liangchuan’s grandmother in town, and she said she’d personally bring him to visit you all," Fu Tinghua told his daughter with a smile.
"Wow~ Yay! Mommy, when Brother Liangchuan comes, can I have a piece of candy?" Niu Niu blinked her big, sparkling eyes and pleaded pitifully.
"Alright, you can. You little schemer," Su He chuckled, amused by her daughter's antics.
As they chatted and laughed, Fu Tinghua brought up his plan to buy a car.
"Dr. Fu, that’s great! I’ve been wanting to get a tricycle—it’s practical. And you’ve already talked to my parents and siblings about it," Su He said with a smile.
Relieved that Su He didn’t blame him for making the decision on his own, Fu Tinghua breathed a sigh of relief.
"I just think relying on others for deliveries is inconvenient. Plus, didn’t you say you wanted to grow tangerines? Having a car would make things easier."
Su He was surprised he remembered and immediately responded, "Yes, I want to grow Shatangju oranges. Do you know if there’s any sloped land left in the village we can use? I remember most of our family’s slopes are planted with sweet potatoes, corn, or potatoes. Do you think Mom and Dad would let me use it for tangerines? If not, we can rent land."
Fu Tinghua hadn’t expected Su He to have thought so far ahead. Seeing her determination, he pondered and replied, "They’d agree, but how much land do you need? I’m worried our family’s land might not be enough."
"Not too much—just a hillside about the size of the one where we grow durians. This year is just a trial. If it goes well, we’ll expand next year, even if we have to rent land. Shatangju has high yields and isn’t as expensive as durians, so ordinary families can afford them. I’m confident they’ll sell better than durians, though they won't make as much profit."
Listening to her thought-out plan, Fu Tinghua didn’t think she was exaggerating at all. Instead, he found her determination really attractive.
"Alright, it’s up to you. Next time Dad delivers durians, we’ll talk to him about it."
"Tonight, I’ll count our money to see if we can afford the car."
"Good. Later, I’ll go check at the market to look at tricycles and choose one. Once we have enough money, we can buy it right away."
The couple kept talking about their plans until Su Shiming arrived.
The moment he saw his son-in-law, Su Shiming was delighted.
"Ting Hua, you’re finally back! Let me tell you, last Friday night, Su He was closing up alone when she had a run-in with criminals! Luckily, she was smart enough to escape, she called the police, and waited for them to arrive."
Su Shiming sighed, not noticing how Fu Tinghua’s expression changed upon hearing this.
