**Chapter 133: Who Do You Think You Are?**

Zhou Liqun had almost reached his office when he heard the name “Su He” and stopped dead in his tracks.

“Who did you say?” he asked the young officer who had just spoken Su He’s name.

    “Deputy... Deputy Chief...”

The junior officer had no idea when the deputy chief had arrived or how long he’d been standing there listening to their conversation about the case.

“I asked you a question!” Zhou Liqun snapped, his brow furrowed tightly.

“We... we were just talking about Su He,” the officer stammered, his eyes darting nervously under Zhou’s glare.

“Show me where they are. Which interrogation room?”

Without waiting for an answer, Zhou Liqun strode toward the interrogation rooms.

The two officers who had been talking exchanged glances, surprised that this woman named Su He also had connections.

Well, this just got messy—the person backing the Chen family must have serious pull.

Led by the junior officer, Zhou shoved open the door to the interrogation room.

    Everyone inside startled.

With no surveillance cameras running, whatever happened in there would stay in there.

But seeing Su He still seated and unharmed, Zhou breathed a quiet sigh of relief.

If anything happened to her under his nose, his mom would tan his hide.

Just thinking about his stubborn nephew gave him a throbbing headache.

Su He turned toward the doorway and saw Zhou standing there, watching her.

She hesitated—would he even help? After all, whoever was protecting the Chen family clearly had power in town.

Otherwise, the police wouldn’t be trying to coerce a false confession out of her.

Before she could decide what to do, Zhou walked straight in and stood in front of her.

    “You okay?” he asked.

“I’m fine, thanks for checking in, Officer Zhou. It’s just…”

Su He trailed off, her gaze shifting to the junior officer sitting across from her, now sweating bullets.

Zhou followed her eyes and fixed his stare on the officer who had been sent as a fall guy.

    “Deputy... Deputy Chief…”

The officer looked like he was about to cry. What he thought would be a quick gig with a payoff had blown up in his face.

“What did he do to you? Tell me, and I’ll handle him myself,” Zhou said with an icy grin.

“Deputy Chief!” the officer blurted out.

"What? Can't I even make this call as deputy director?" Zhou Liqun sneered at the junior officer.

"It was the director who sent me," the junior officer blurted out, revealing who put him up to it.

Too green—blabbed about who sent him right away, and in front of so many people too.

No matter what, this junior officer definitely won’t last at the Xinxu Town precinct.

"Oh? Is that so?" Zhou Liqun shot back, but said nothing more.

"Officer Zhou, can you make sure this is handled right? Chen Zhijie beat my sister repeatedly, bad enough that she lost the baby. He almost killed her more than once.

But the Chen family, scared she’d tell her family, locked her up.

When she finally made it into town, she came to the station for help, only to be told it was a family matter, not police business.

When they came to arrest my sister, they claimed she was crazy. I spoke up for her.

Then several young men from the Chen family jumped me, so I fought back.

This officer here didn’t even hear me out—he just said both sides were at fault.

He said the other side had worse injuries and told me to apologize or else he'd charge me.

If I don’t confess, next they’ll probably beat a confession out of me."

Su He laid it all out clear as day—her thoughts sharp, her words tight. In just a few sentences, she explained everything.

Zhou Liqun listened, even more certain now that she wasn’t some pushover.

"You—you're lying! Where’s your proof?" The junior officer was sweating bullets, but still tried to fight for himself.

He worked hard to land this steady gig—he didn’t want to lose it.

"You were shouting loud enough earlier in the interrogation room. Ask any two officers—if there's a single cop here with a spine, they'll admit they heard it," Su He shot back coldly.

At this, Zhou Liqun glanced at the junior officer who brought him in.

The officer was in a tight spot—he didn’t want to offend either the director or the deputy.

But he wasn’t the only one who heard. That yelling was impossible to miss.

What if the deputy went around asking others and someone told the truth? He couldn’t lie anyway.

"I did hear some threats," he finally muttered.

    Hearing this, Zhou Liqun sneered.

Figures. The whole station was rotting from the inside, right under his nose.

"Oh? What’s going on here? Quite the scene," a voice suddenly cut in.

A pot-bellied, balding man in his middle years, wearing a police uniform but no cap, stepped into the interrogation room.

Putting on a show, he turned to Zhou Liqun and asked, "Ah, Deputy Director Zhou, to what do we owe the pleasure? A small-time case like this worth your attention?"

His sarcastic tone made everyone’s skin crawl.

"It's not me who's handling the case, but I know something's wrong with it. Since when do we make a ruling without even investigating what really happened?" Zhou Liqun shot back.

When Zhou spoke to him so bluntly, Director Ma’s expression immediately turned cold.

Hmph, this kid’s still wet behind the ears—can’t even hide what he’s thinking.

All guts, no brains—and too eager to charge in and get wrecked.

So what if he has family in the capital? In Xinxu Town, *he* runs the police station!

"Deputy Director Zhou, are you questioning how my team handles cases?"

Zhou Liqun’s face darkened. At the end of the day, he was just a deputy director—one who had only recently taken office at that.

His clout didn’t run as deep as the director’s within the department.

"I didn’t say that," Zhou replied. "But we need to hear both sides before making any judgment—not just force someone to confess. Su He acted in self-defense. That’s not a two-way fight."

After a pause, the director responded, "Still, she did injure someone. Let’s just drop it here. The Chen guy can take his wife home and we’ll call it done."

Since Zhou wanted to protect this Su He, he could throw the Zhou family a bone.

"My sister has been abused, beaten, and locked up by Chen Zhijie for years. You can’t let him take her back," Su He suddenly said.

"The hell do you think you are? Who asked you to speak?" The director snapped, glaring at Su He.

Then, a voice rang out—ice-cold, sharp, and full of contempt.

"And just who the hell do *you* think you are?"
