    **Chapter 171: Emotions Run Wild**

"Mom, I don’t feel so good. Let’s go home first," Tan Xiaoshuang said to her mother.

Tan’s mother actually wanted to ask Su Shiming and Wen Qing if Su He’s husband could introduce some eligible bachelors to their Xiaoshuang.

After this dinner, they weren’t too impressed with Xu Runze.

His job might be stable, but the pay wasn’t anything special.

However, after running into Su He and her husband tonight, Tan’s mother liked him even less.

Their Xiaoshuang was clearly too good for him—she could land a richer husband.

No, she had to go back and talk this over with Xiaoshuang and the rest of the family.

If Su He could find such a great catch, their Xiaoshuang definitely could too!

In the car, Fu Tinghua was driving.

Su He and the two kids sat in the back seat.

“Are Zai Zai and Niu Niu asleep?” Fu Tinghua glanced at the rearview mirror and asked.

The drive from Su Shiming’s house to where Su He and her family lived was only twenty minutes.

He’d only been driving a few minutes, and they were already out cold.

“Yeah, it’s fine. Let them sleep for a bit. We’ll wake them up when we get home,” Su He said, ruffling her daughter’s hair.

“You and those two families earlier aren’t exactly friends?” Fu Tinghua suddenly asked.

“No, where did you get that idea? I just can’t be bothered with them,” Su He replied, unafraid to let Fu Tinghua see her not-so-nice thoughts.

    “Then don’t.”

That guy’s look toward Su He earlier—Fu Tinghua didn’t like it.

His gut told him Su He and that man used to be pretty tight.

“Mm, I won’t bother with them. You’re the only one I care about,” Su He suddenly said sweetly from the back seat.

    Fu Tinghua: “......”

“Save the sweet talk for when we get home,” Fu Tinghua cut in.

“Huh? Why?” Su He asked, puzzled.

Did they have to wait until they got home? They were alone in the car—the kids were asleep, after all.

Fu Tinghua cleared his throat and said, “Because I’m driving, and you’re distracting me.”

    Su He: “......Oh.”

When they got home, seeing how soundly the kids were sleeping, neither Su He nor Fu Tinghua had the heart to wake them up for a bath.

They gave the kids a quick wipe and let them keep sleeping.

“Ting Hua, Su He,” Fu Yanju said, stepping out of her room upon hearing them come in.

In the countryside, folks usually turn in by eight, and now it was almost half past.

Wan Er was already out like a light.

“Fourth Sis, did you get out today?” Su He asked.

“Yep, got a couple outfits and some toiletries for myself and Wan Er,” Fu Yanju replied with a smile.

“That’s good. Just holler if you need anything.”

“Nah, you’re the one who might need a hand. If the renovation starts tomorrow, want me to swing by and keep an eye on things?” Fu Yanju asked.

“Aren’t you going to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow? Don’t forget,” Su He reminded her.

“I won’t. I meant once I’m done at the hospital.”

Su He thought for a moment. Indeed, someone needed to oversee the early stages.

“Sure, after your check-up, pop in now and then to see how the reno’s going. I’m swamped—I still need to take my driver’s test and drop off durians.”

She’d also promised Shi Jin and Wen Yuru to deliver durians.

She hadn’t had time these past two days, but she definitely had to do it tomorrow.

“Alright, you handle your stuff. I’ve got dinner covered, so don’t worry about that.”

At this point, Fu Yanju asked, “How’d my cooking turn out today?”

Su He shot her a thumbs-up.

    “Delicious!”

Fu Yanju had gone heavy on the oil and salt to match Su He’s usual flavors.

After chatting a bit, Su He went to peek at her durians again.

She sneaked a few nearly ripe ones into her space before heading off to shower.

What she didn’t know was that her furtive moves had been spotted by Fu Tinghua from the second floor.

But with no lights outside and the darkness thick, he couldn’t make out what she was up to.

Still, as soon as Su He left, he could’ve sworn the durian pile shrank.

Mulling it over, Fu Tinghua couldn’t help but get lost in thought.

When Su He finished showering and entered the room, Fu Tinghua was already under the covers.

He was deep in his medical book.

Hearing her come in, he set the book down on the dresser.

“Done reading?” Su He asked, puzzled.

“Lights out,” Fu Tinghua said, getting up and walking toward her.

“What are you doing?” she asked nervously.

“Hop in. I’ll get the light.”

Fu Tinghua walked over to the light switch by the door and waited until Su He got into bed before turning off the light.

Once Fu Tinghua was in bed, Su He couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

The last time they’d been intimate had been when she was drunk and out of it, barely aware of what was happening.

Honestly, how bold she’d been back then—she definitely wouldn’t dare act like that now.

The bed was 1.8 meters wide—plenty of room for two adults.

Fu Tinghua shifted closer to her, turned onto his side, and slipped an arm around Su He, drawing her into his embrace.

"Feeling better now?" His lips grazed her ear as he whispered.

Was Fu Tinghua doing this on purpose? The way his breath teased her ear felt like he was playing with her.

It sent shivers down Su He’s spine, leaving her boneless.

Her ears were a sensitive spot.

Su He, feeling both shy and annoyed, pretended not to hear him.

But she was no match for Dr. Fu. His hand crept beneath the sheets...

"Not talking, hmm?" In the darkness, Fu Tinghua’s lips curled into a smirk.

"You..." Su He almost gasped aloud from his teasing.

    You’re terrible!

Then, Fu Tinghua leaned down and claimed Su He’s mouth in a kiss, gently biting her lip.

    "Is this alright, sweetheart?"

    Su He: ...

Fu Tinghua was being completely unfair—getting her this flustered and still asking if it was okay?

    Could she even say no?

    No!

It wasn’t just men who felt desire; women did too.

He was clearly doing this on purpose—making her admit it.

But Su He had misunderstood. Fu Tinghua didn’t actually need her answer.

His wife was just a little shy about intimacy. He was only playing with her.

    *“I like you.”*

Darkness swallowed the words as Fu Tinghua breathed them against her skin.

*"Hmm?"* Su He was too dazed to think straight.

How was Dr. Fu so good at kissing? It almost made Su He wonder if he was some sort of Casanova.

    "Su He," he murmured again.

"What... what is it?" Su He asked, still reeling.

"Don’t leave me, okay?" His voice suddenly sounded achingly vulnerable.

She didn’t know what had gotten into him. After a long silence, she finally managed to murmur, "Mm." After that, Dr. Fu’s unbridled hunger would’ve made the moon hide.
