Chapter 162 A Lucky Accident

"It's you!" Su He exclaimed in surprise.
"Mm-hmm." The boy looked at her, slightly blushing.
"Last time... I didn’t mean to steal... really. That was my first time, and I’ll never do it again," the boy said nervously, lowering his head as he explained, afraid Su He might think of him as a thief.
"Stealing’s wrong—it hurts everyone. But I believe you can change."
Su He’s bright smile stunned him.
He’d never seen a woman as pretty as Su He before.
"What’s the matter? You asked earlier if I was looking for a renovation master—got any leads?" Su He asked curiously.
"Yeah, my dad and I can help with the renovation," the boy replied quickly.
"You? Aren’t you supposed to be in school? I don’t hire kids." Su He shook her head with a sigh.
Hearing this, the boy panicked. "I’m almost seventeen—that’s not child labor. And I dropped out a long time ago. I’ve been learning from my dad."
This response shocked Su He.
Seventeen? He looked twelve, tops.
"You’re really seventeen?" she asked in surprise.
"Really, I... I just don’t grow much," he said quietly, his head sinking lower.
He knew his scrawny build made him an easy target for bullies his age.
But there was nothing he could do—years of poor nutrition had left him small and underweight.
"You and your dad... you really know how to do renovations?" Su He asked again.
"Yes, definitely. My dad used to do renovations for rich folks," the boy answered confidently.
"Alright then, where is your dad now?"
"He’s at home. Wanna come meet him? Or should I bring him here? You can wait for me if you want," the boy offered nervously, hoping she would agree.
"Do you know how to install tiles right?" Su He asked.
"Surprisingly, yes!" the boy immediately responded.
"These materials aren’t cheap, y’know," she added.
She had said the same thing when looking for a renovation master earlier.
Most people had bailed the moment they heard about the expensive materials.
Yet the boy simply nodded and said, "I know. Those are materials rich folks use—no way they’re cheap."
Bold for his age.
"Where do you live?" Su He asked.
"Right around the corner."
"Then go get your father for me—I'll be right here waiting," Su He said, glancing at the large crowd of people looking for work before speaking.
"Okay, but sis, you gotta wait for me! And my name's Yu Xi!" the boy called out as he ran off.
Watching his sprinting figure, Su He couldn't help but smile.
This boy had finally shown a bit of youthful energy. Before, he'd been like a zombie—lifeless and wouldn’t even make a peep when hit.
Seeing him run and jump now, the last beating must not have done any lasting damage.
While Su He waited, another labor contractor came looking for workers.
After another group left, Su He started getting antsy.
The trading market wasn’t just for workers waiting to be hired—there were also all kinds of oddball stuff being sold here.
But she wasn't here to browse; her big goal was fixing up her shop fast.
It hit her—maybe she could sell her durians here first?
After all, this place seemed better suited for pushing something new and different compared to the regular market.
Everyone just set up makeshift stalls here, paying daily for whatever spot you grab.
Arriving early each day determined where you ended up—just like snagging a good spot at a flea market.
As she pondered this, Yu Xi came rushing back, dragging a limping man behind him.
Tripping over himself trying to match his son’s speed, the man stumbled awkwardly.
"Sis! I got him! Here's my dad!" Yu Xi shouted while still running.
"Yeah, I see that," Su He replied.
Then she turned her attention to the man beside him—the kind who looked like he’d rather be anywhere else.
"Hello, I'm Su He. Can you do renovation work?" she asked with a smile, addressing the man Yu Xi had called his father.
"I-I... yeah, I can do that."
Out of practice talking to people, the man stammered nervously.
"Hi, I heard you've done tiling work before, right?
I want to fix up a shop. The walls need repainting.
Floors need tiling, and the bathroom’s gotta be ripped out and redone.
You know what a toilet is, right? The space isn’t huge, but it’s a bit of a mishmash of fixes..."
Clueless about renovations, Su He dumped a laundry list of changes on him.
Instead of looking overwhelmed, though, his face perked up like she’d just handed him gold.
He jumped in with tweaks and ideas, and from what he said, Su He realized—he knew his way around a modern remodel.
"Let's do this, Miss Su. Talking about it on paper won't help; we need to visit the site of your project so I can see if your ideas are feasible."
After some more conversation, the man finally spoke up.
"Sure, let's go now," Su He responded immediately.
Time is money, and this renovation schedule is really affecting her plans to make a fortune.
"May I ask, Miss Su, would you mind if... someone with my disability helps you..."
The more he spoke, the lower his head went, clearly very self-conscious about his limping leg.
"Please don't worry. Even though my leg is like this, it doesn't affect my work at all. Besides, I mainly provide technical guidance, and most of the actual work will be done by my son. The two of us will definitely make sure your shop looks beautiful."
Afraid that Su He might reject him, the man quickly added.
"Alright, I'm looking forward to it. May I ask your name?" Su He asked with a smile.
"My name is Yu Xu. You can just call me Master Yu."
"Great, let's go then. We'll check out the shop first."
With that, Su He led the way, and they took a taxi to the shop.
The market was actually not far from her shop, only about two kilometers away.
But considering the scorching sun and the fact that one of them had mobility issues, Su He decided to take a taxi.
Once they arrived at the shop, Yu Xu went inside and took a look around, immediately offering some suggestions that Su He hadn't considered before.
