Chapter 212: Why Are You Picking on Him for No Reason?
by 范氏女子Chapter 212: Why Are You Always Finding Fault with Him?
Su He and Fu Tinghua walked home together with Su Shiming.
The distance from here to their place was less than a kilometer, very close, so Su He never drove over here.
She walked here every day.
When they got home, they didn’t see the three kids in the yard. Su He and Fu Tinghua shared a look, both a little puzzled.
They walked into the kitchen and saw the three kids crouched on the floor, helping Wen Qing wash vegetables.
"Mom!"
"Mom!"
Zai Zai and Niu Niu called out to their mother directly, ignoring their dad and grandpa completely.
"You two little ingrates, not even calling out to Dad and Grandpa," Su Shiming pretended to be angry.
"Hello, Dad and Grandpa," the two kids quickly chimed in.
It wasn’t like they didn’t want to say hi—it was just their habit to call for Mom whenever something happened.
"Su He, Ting Hua, you’re back," Wen Qing said when she heard them. She spun around, surprised, while stir-frying, looking at them.
Once again, Su Shiming was ignored.
"We’re back. Mom, what are you cooking?" Su He asked as she walked forward.
"Oh, just some simple stir-fry," Wen Qing replied a little embarrassed.
She didn’t know what had happened to her daughter—her cooking had become so delicious now that her own cooking didn’t measure up.
"It’s fine, we’ll eat whatever’s cooked. Besides, Mom’s cooking is the best," Su He cooed, making Wen Qing chuckle happily.
During dinner, Su He shared with Fu Tinghua her idea to have Su Shiming start as a cashier at the supermarket starting the next day.
After hearing this, Fu Tinghua nodded, showing he was fine with it.
He even threw in a compliment: "Dad’s mental arithmetic is so good—he’ll definitely do well."
The praise made Su Shiming beam with pride.
After the meal, Su He went to take over for Fu Yanju so she could come home to eat and rest, while Fu Tinghua drove Wen Qing and Su Shiming back.
In the car, Wen Qing couldn’t resist saying, "Ting Hua, your hospital treats you really well, even giving you such a nice car."
The prouder she was of her son-in-law, the happier the mother-in-law felt.
"Yeah, the hospital’s always treated me well," Fu Tinghua replied while driving.
"A car—they’re not common in the city."
"Well, our hospital actually only got this one approved for me."
The hospital had a tight budget. Apart from the dean’s car and the ambulances, this was the only car he got.
Not all the higher-ups at the hospital had one.
"Oh, absolutely, absolutely!" Wen Qing quickly chimed in.
This is the classic case of a mother-in-law doting on her son-in-law—the more she sees him, the more she likes him.
Ting Hua is handsome, has a great job—what mother-in-law wouldn’t like him?
The only worry she once had was whether her son-in-law truly loved her daughter, but now, that’s no longer a worry.
After dropping Su Shiming and Wen Qing at their doorstep, Fu Tinghua asked, "Dad, how are you getting to the shop tomorrow?"
Su Shiming replied proudly, "What? Worried I can’t make it? Don’t worry, the bike at home’s been gathering dust—I’ll just use that."
Fu Tinghua thought for a moment and still reminded him, "Just be careful, Dad."
"Careful? I’ve been riding bikes forever!" Su Shiming said helplessly.
His daughter and son-in-law didn’t trust him on a bike, even though he’d ridden one all the time before retirement.
He’d only stopped after retiring early for health reasons, and after retirement, he mostly stayed home, which is why the bicycle had been unused.
He’d need to check if the bike still worked.
You know how things go bad if you don’t use them.
After saying goodbye, Fu Tinghua pulled away.
As he walked away, Wen Qing couldn’t help but remark, "Look at Ting Hua—you can’t find a single fault with him."
Su Shiming: "......"
"Why would you even try to find faults with him?"
Wen Qing: "......" She gave up—he just didn’t get it.
Instead of heading home, Fu Tinghua drove straight to the shop and parked outside.
By then, Fu Yanju had already left, and Su He was watching the shop with the two kids.
"Back so soon?" Su He asked as soon as she saw him.
Fu Tinghua: "......" He’d driven slow as could be—her parents didn’t live that far away.
"I drove very steadily, don’t worry," Fu Tinghua said, a little annoyed.
"Pfft, Aunt Niu warned me—your driving scares people to death. After that one time, she refuses to ride with you now."
Fu Tinghua: "......"
"That was because you were at the police station—I was in a panic and sped a bit," he quickly explained.
"I’m kidding! Why so jumpy?" Su He sighed.
Just then, another customer came to pay.
"Oh, Dr. Fu!" she exclaimed, spotting him as she checked out.
"Mm, Nurse Rong," Fu Tinghua gave a slight nod in response.
Nurse Rong was the head nurse of the emergency department—and a champion busybody. As soon as she caught wind of this quirky little shop, she had to check it out.
She glanced at Su He and immediately recognized her—"Isn't this Dr. Fu's wife?"
So—
This supermarket—
"Is this Dr. Fu's place?"
Thinking this, she couldn’t help but ask directly.
"Dr. Fu, do you own this store?" Nurse Rong inquired.
Fu Tinghua turned his gaze to Su He, then smiled and shook his head. "Not quite. This shop is my wife’s."
Nurse Rong: ...
If it was his wife’s, how's that different from being his?
"Oh, I heard a new shop opened here, and it sounded interesting that I rushed over to shop. Your store is really well done—you can get everything in one stop, it's got everything you need."
So this shop was opened by Dr. Fu’s wife? Then she’d invite her girlfriends over later. Many who hadn’t met Su He were dying to see what Dr. Fu’s wife looked like.
Some used to say she was unattractive, but now the word seems to have changed.
At a glance, Dr. Fu’s wife was a total knockout.
Previously, people said she was ugly and overweight, but she wasn't buying that.
Hadn’t they seen the way Dr. Fu looked at his wife—the way he looks at her like she hung the moon?
Still, you had to envy her—finding such a handsome husband like Dr. Fu, who treated her so well.
As Nurse Rong’s thoughts wandered, Su He had already finished checking her out.
"That’ll be five-twenty," Su He said with a smile.
"Oh, right, right. Let me get that for you." Nurse Rong fumbled in her pocket and handed the cash to Su He.
And she's so sweet too. Once back, she’d definitely spread the word about this with her colleagues, giving them a chance to meet Dr. Fu’s wife.
Everyone was so curious about her.
Many doctors and nurses at the hospital wanted Su He to teach a class—on how to land a man like Dr. Fu.
