Chapter 165 Be Sarcastic When Necessary
by 范氏女子**Chapter 165: When to Be Snarky**
"Alright, don’t worry too much. I’ve got your back."
Fu Tinghua locked eyes with Su He, and his gaze suddenly turned... strange.
Su He couldn’t quite put it into words—it was like a hungry wolf eyeing its prey. It gave her the creeps.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Su He said, clearly uncomfortable.
Hadn’t she just told him to focus on his job while she handled everything? Why was he staring at her like he wanted to eat her alive?
"I just suddenly feel like kissing you," Fu Tinghua said, dropping the line casually.
"Are you crazy? The kids or Fourth Sister could see us at any moment!" Su He rolled her eyes.
"I know it’s not the right time, so I’ll kiss you tonight instead," Fu Tinghua murmured playfully, leaning close to Su He’s ear.
*Su He was speechless.*
Just then, Fu Yanju—who had been watching them talk by the car without heading inside—got impatient and came over. "Tinghua, Su He, what’s the hold-up? Why aren’t you coming in?"
If Tinghua hadn’t had his hand on Su He’s shoulder, Fu Yanju might have thought they were arguing.
"It’s nothing, sis. Let’s go in."
Fu Tinghua removed his hand from her shoulder and laced his fingers through hers.
*Su He was still speechless.*
Total skin hunger—no doubt about it. She’d have to ask Dr. Fu about it later.
And with people watching, too. So embarrassing.
"Mommy! Daddy!" Seeing that they were finally done talking, Niu Niu barreled into them.
Earlier, she had wanted to run over, but her aunt had stopped her, saying her parents needed to talk first.
"Come on, let’s go eat."
Fu Tinghua had to pry himself away from Su He and picked up his daughter.
Meanwhile, Fu Yanju had even dished out the meals.
"Sis, do you want to get a driver’s license with Su He?" Fu Tinghua asked during dinner.
"Wait—a license? *Me?*" Fu Yanju asked in disbelief.
"Yeah. If you want, I’ll get you both signed up together."
At the mention of spending more money, she hesitated immediately.
She hated wasting money when they hadn’t earned nearly enough yet.
"No, I’d flunk for sure. Besides, it’s not like we own a car—why would I need one?" Fu Yanju quickly declined.
"Turns out we *do* have a car now," Fu Tinghua replied.
"What? That white car you drove here—is that *yours?!*" Fu Yanju asked her brother in shock.
"The hospital approved it, so it belongs to them, but I get to use it temporarily."
Before Fu Yanju could even express her excitement, Niu Niu excitedly said, "Yay! My dad has a car now! Does this mean we have a car?"
"Niu Niu, the car is still the hospital's, but Dad gets to use it right now," Su He quickly corrected.
"If Dad’s using it, then it’s his! The hospital doesn’t need it, so whoever uses it owns it."
Niu Niu, that little rascal, was already coming up with twisted logic at such a young age.
The whole family basked in the happiness of Fu Tinghua having a car to use.
"Sis, I got you scheduled for a check-up tomorrow morning. You’ll come with me to the hospital," Fu Tinghua added.
"Oh... okay. Do I need to bring anything?" Fu Yanju asked nervously.
"No, just don’t eat beforehand—some blood tests require fasting in the morning."
"Then Wan Er can tag along with me tomorrow. Oh, and I found a contractor," Su He suddenly remembered.
"They’re starting tomorrow?" Fu Tinghua immediately asked.
"Yeah, they start tomorrow morning and it'll take about half a month."
"You take care of it."
After lunch, since it was still early, the family decided to walk off their meal in a nearby park.
They also took the chance to help Fu Yanju and Chen Waner get to know the area.
As soon as they stepped out, they bumped into their neighbor Qin Fenghua and her husband Liu Kai, whom Su He had previously given vegetables.
One practiced Chinese medicine, the other Western medicine. Naturally, Liu Kai, being older and an established TCM doctor, should’ve held a grudge against Fu Tinghua, a young man who’d become Deputy Director so quickly.
Surprisingly, though, the two actually got along great.
It just proved that Fu Tinghua’s surgical skills were undeniable.
"Dr. Fu."
"Director Liu."
They greeted each other warmly.
With his beautiful wife and cute kids around him, Fu Tinghua looked like a happy family man—nothing like what people were saying.
"Are you heading out for a walk?" Qin Fenghua asked.
"Yeah, just walking off lunch," Fu Tinghua replied with a smile.
"Dr. Fu, this must be your wife? Oh, she brought us some veggies last time, and we cooked them the same day—they were delicious. Thank you!"
Though speaking to Fu Tinghua, Qin Fenghua kept glancing at Su He.
"Happy you enjoyed them!" Su He responded with a smile.
After a bit of chitchat, the two families parted ways.
Only after Fu Tinghua and his family walked away did Qin Fenghua turn to her husband and say, "I gotta say, Dr. Fu’s whole family is downright gorgeous. And his wife—so pretty and nice."
Liu Kai looked puzzled and asked, "Didn't you tell me last time that you heard Dr. Fu's wife, who moved next door, was both ugly and had a bad personality?"
"Oh, that was before I actually saw her! You know, seeing is believing," Qin Fenghua said defensively.
"You! Stop hanging out with those apartment busybodies. They've got nothing better to do than stick their noses in others' business. The day you stop listening to them, they'll start gossiping about you!"
Qin Fenghua:...
Three adults with three kids instantly became the talk of the park as soon as they appeared.
And many people living nearby were doctors or their family members from the hospital. Though not 100%, at least 70-80% had heard of Fu Tinghua.
"Is that... Dr. Fu?"
"Has to be. Who else looks that good?"
"Then which of the two women beside him is his wife?"
"Probably the uglier one, right? Wasn't he supposed to have married some plain Jane?"
"Wait, no? The paler, skinnier one looks downright unhealthy. I heard Dr. Fu's wife is a 'marbled pork.'"
"What's 'marbled pork'?"
"It means fair-skinned and curvy."
The whispers, though they thought were quiet, were overheard by sharp-eared Su.
She walked straight up to the two women and tittered, "Too bad—I'm no 'marbled pork'!
Compared to you two gossiping about others in public, I'd say I'm at least a hundred times better looking, wouldn't you?
Look at yourselves—bow-legged with mom hips. Maybe work on yourselves first."
