Chapter 510: Tricking the Mother-in-law
by 范氏女子Chapter 510: Pulling One Over on the Mother-in-Law
Early the next morning, the Fu family was already up and bustling about.
Wen Qing also woke up very early; her internal clock meant she never slept late.
Seeing her son-in-law up so early too, Wen Qing felt a bit exasperated.
"Ting Hua, why do you get up so early every day? Take advantage of the vacation to sleep a bit more. Look at your wife—she sleeps late every day. Learn from her," Wen Qing said with a smile.
Fu Tinghua rubbed his nose, unsure how to respond.
He couldn’t tell whether his mother-in-law was praising his wife or criticizing her for sleeping too late.
"I'm used to waking up early. It’s a good thing Su He can sleep in. According to medical science, getting more sleep is beneficial for health."
Without blushing or skipping a beat, Fu Tinghua cited medical knowledge, and Wen Qing immediately went quiet.
"Is that really a thing?" Wen Qing thought having a doctor as a son-in-law was truly wonderful.
"Yes, it is. When a person gets enough sleep, their body's resistance improves accordingly."
"Then it’s better to let Su He sleep more."
Wen Qing had been worried that her daughter sleeping until late morning might eventually irritate Fu Tinghua.
What man could tolerate his wife being too lazy?
But after hearing Fu Tinghua’s explanation, she now wished her daughter could sleep until noon every day without any issues.
"I don't know how busy your parents are over there. Should I go help?" Wen Qing couldn’t stand being idle.
Mainly, she felt bad that the Fu family was up early working while her side was lazing around.
"It’s fine. You can just tag along to town later and have some fun. They’re only doing this because they can’t sit still and want to give it a try."
There was no way Fu Tinghua would let his mother-in-law help so early in the morning, so he quickly reassured her.
"Alright then, I’ll go make breakfast. After everyone eats, we can head to town." With that, Wen Qing headed to the stove room.
"Mom, wait, I'll take care of it." Fu Tinghua hurried after her.
Lan Ruolin heard the commotion and was also up.
At this hour, the sky was still dimly lit; winter always brought early darkness and late dawns.
Fortunately, the lights Su He had installed at home were very bright, lighting up the whole place.
When Su He was finally woken up, she curled up under the blankets, reluctant to get out of bed.
Niu Niu was sleeping soundly in Su He’s arms, thankfully without drooling.
"Are you going to town?" Fu Tinghua looked amusedly at Su He, who was still lazing in bed, and gently patted her head.
"Yeah." Su He’s voice was still hoarse from just waking up.
"Where’s Zai Zai?" She glanced at her daughter in her arms, but her son was long gone.
"Our son got up early, dressed himself, and went out. Only you two lazybugs are left," Fu Tinghua said with a helpless smile.
Su He glanced out the window; it wasn't even fully light out yet.
"I'll drive your sister-in-law and them to town later. They're bringing fried cakes, and walking would take forever," Fu Tinghua added.
"Oh, should I drive then?" Su He asked.
They had brought two cars back, and since Fu Tinghua was driving one, there was still another available.
"Whatever you prefer. If you don’t feel like walking, you can drive," Fu Tinghua said, prioritizing Su He's preference.
"There are too many people, and there aren't enough seats for everyone," Su He remarked as she sat up.
Seeing this, Fu Tinghua quickly fetched Su He’s coat and put it around her shoulders.
"You should get dressed now. You don't want to catch a cold in this weather," he urged. Catching a cold in this weather would be miserable.
"Alright, I know. Shouldn’t you hurry and take your sister-in-law and them? There’ll be lots of stalls today, so going early will help get a good spot," Su He gave Fu Tinghua a little push, urging him to leave.
Just then, Niu Niu, her little face flushed from sleep, started to stir, likely awakened by their conversation.
Su He glanced at Fu Tinghua, then leaned down close to her daughter’s ear and whispered, "Niu Niu, aren’t you getting up? Ya Ya sister is here to play with you."
Niu Niu heard but still cuddled up to Su He, reluctant to leave the warmth of the bed.
"You little sleepyhead," Su He said with a laugh, gently patting her daughter’s back.
Fu Tinghua watched this sweet moment unfold, his eyes filled with tenderness.
"Mommy is the little lazybones; I’m the tiny lazybones," Niu Niu murmured sleepily as she slowly sat up, responding in a soft voice.
Well, look who's awake!
Sure enough, her next question was, "Where is Ya Ya sister?"
This kid—always ready to play.
"Ya Ya sister is waiting for you at her house. We’ll go to the town market together later. Come on, let Mommy help you get dressed," Su He said, going for Niu Niu’s clothes.
"Get dressed yourself first. I’ll help her," Fu Tinghua spoke up.
He had been urging Su He to get dressed for so long, and yet she was still putting it off to help their daughter first.
"Ah? Okay, let's get moving. We’re going to town to have fun!"
