Chapter 214: Are We Going to Become a Wealthy Family?

"I’d like it better if you said that in a normal tone," Fu Tinghua remarked with a teasing smile.
"Yeah, right."
Before they knew it, they were home.
The whole house was quiet, so Su He and Fu Tinghua automatically tiptoed. Su He went upstairs first to check if the kids were asleep.
Fu Tinghua used the chance to hop in the shower.
Su He gently pushed open the door to Zai Zai and Niu Niu’s bedroom and found it silent. Just as she was about to close the door, she heard Niu Niu call out, "Mommy."
Huh? You’re still up?
Su He stepped inside.
In the darkness, both Zai Zai and Niu Niu sat up.
Seeing this, Su He turned on the light.
The kids blinked, adjusting to the light, but their eyes sparkled the moment they saw Su He. "Mommy!" they exclaimed.
"Why are my little munchkins still awake?" Su He sat beside them and asked with a smile.
"I missed Mommy so much I couldn’t sleep," Niu Niu, the little charmer, said.
"I napped too long during the day, so I can’t sleep now," Zai Zai replied—now that’s the truth.
Su He thought for a moment and said, "From now on, just an hour nap at noon, then up you go."
Previously, she had let the kids wake up naturally, though they usually only slept for an hour or an hour and a half at most. But now that they’re bigger, that’s gotta stop.
Time to learn good sleep habits—early to bed, early to rise.
Zai Zai nodded without protest.
Niu Niu, though, stuck out her lip, sulking.
This kid was all about snacks and naps.
But seeing how adorable she was, Su He couldn’t resist reaching out to squish her daughter’s cheeks.
"Mooom," Niu Niu whined, puffing out her lower lip.
"Why the pout? Hmm? You could hook a bucket on that lip," Su He teased.
"I’m not! But if I don’t nap enough, I’ll be tired!"
Oh? Look who’s bargaining now.
"But if you nap too much, you won’t sleep tonight, got it?" Su He patiently reasoned.
Niu Niu grumbled but gave in. "Okay."
"Good. Now bedtime." Su He patted Zai Zai’s head and gave Niu Niu’s cheeks one last squish before standing up.
"Don’t leave! I wanna talk!" Niu Niu suddenly grabbed Su He’s hand, holding on tight.
Mom's been so busy lately she hasn't had time for me. Niu Niu missed her mom.
"Alright, alright, I won't leave." Su He gave in and sat back down.
"Mom, are we going to become a rich family in the future?" Niu Niu asked, blinking her big, doe-like eyes.
"Who told you that?" Su He didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"I heard it today while playing outside the shop. Two uncles were talking in front of our store, saying our shop must be making a lot of money."
Hearing this, Su He couldn't help but worry.
Was someone getting jealous of their shop's success and planning to rob them? These days, door locks were so easy to break into.
Though most of their daily earnings were secretly stored away in her space, there were still plenty of small change left in the shop.
Pushing aside her worries, Su He asked Niu Niu, "Do Zai Zai and Niu Niu want to become rich?"
"Yes!" Zai Zai immediately replied before Su He could blink. "If we're rich, we won't go hungry anymore."
Su He: ...
What a dumb question she had asked. When she first crossed over, Zai Zai and Niu Niu had gone a whole day and night without food.
Not wanting the kids to remember those hard times, Su He quickly said, "Alright, Mom will work hard to earn money so you won't go hungry."
"Mom, things are already good now. Don't work yourself too hard," Zai Zai added.
Looking at her sensible son, Su He was really touched.
He was truly her little angel. How could he be a novel's villain? Such a sweet boy.
"Yeah, Mom, I want you to spend more time with me!" Niu Niu chimed in.
Before Su He could respond, Zai Zai sternly scolded his sister, "Niu Niu, Mom has her own things to do. She can't revolve around you all day. I can keep you company too."
Su He: ...
Zai Zai, is he really just a child?
Hearing her brother's words, Niu Niu's lip quivered slightly.
But she missed her mom.
"It's okay. Once Grandpa comes to help with the shop, Mom won't be as busy. Niu Niu, your brother is right. Mom has her own life too and can't always focus only on you. But I'll try my best to spend more time with you both, okay?"
Su He's business was just getting started, yet she already felt torn between family and work.
She had indeed been busy lately, often leaving the kids at home or letting them play in the shop.
Even when they were with her, she couldn't pay them much mind. But these were just part of starting up.
"Niu Niu understands. Niu Niu loves Mommy the most." Afraid Su He might be angry, Niu Niu immediately hugged her waist.
Seeing her daughter looking so dejected, Su He felt her heart break.
Just then, the door opened again—it was Fu Tinghua, just out of the shower, coming to tell Su He it was her turn to shower.
Noticing Niu Niu clinging to Su He’s waist with a pitiful look, Fu Tinghua quickly asked, "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing, just this little one being clingy." Su He chuckled and gave her daughter’s hair a playful ruffle.
"Mommy, what’s ‘being clingy’?" Niu Niu looked up curiously.
The question made both Su He and Fu Tinghua laugh.
"Being clingy is exactly what you’re doing now—clinging to Mommy and not letting her go," Fu Tinghua said as he walked over to Su He.
"Then I like being clingy with Mommy," Niu Niu, the little rascal, replied instantly.
"Mommy’s had a long day and is exhausted. She needs to go bathe and rest. You can be clingy next time, okay?" Fu Tinghua patted his daughter’s head with a smile.
Hearing that Su He was exhausted, Niu Niu wouldn’t dream of refusing.
She immediately let go of Su He and said, "Mommy, go take your bath and get some rest now."
Su He was speechless...
Not bad, Dr. Fu—he’s got a way with kids.
But really, it’s because Niu Niu loves her mom that it worked.
"Alright, you two head to bed soon, understand?" she said to the children.
"I’ll keep an eye on them. You go bathe."
His wife might be a little too soft on the kids, Fu Tinghua thought, though he knew better than to say it out loud.
Last time this came up, they almost got into it.
Well, it was more like Su He lecturing him while he just stood there, baffled.
