Chapter 473 The Obedient Son and the Clingy Daughter
by 范氏女子Chapter 473: The Responsible Son and the Daddy's Girl
"Alright, you all can figure these things out yourselves. It's time to head home; it's getting late."
After saying this, Wu Yanhua was about to stand up when she remembered Lan Ruolin sitting beside her and added, "Miss Lan, we'll be heading back first."
Upon hearing this, Lan Ruolin quickly replied, "Okay."
As an outsider, Aunt Lan had been completely caught up in the whole money-dividing show. She hadn’t missed a single expression on anyone’s face, simultaneously admiring Su He’s people skills and feeling that her way of winning people over was really something.
After today’s events, even if Su He asked the Fu family to go to the mat for her, they would likely do so without hesitation.
But Su He was also genuinely a good boss, exchanging sincerity for the Fu family’s loyalty in return.
Lan Ruolin felt she had sizeable savings, with over a hundred thousand yuan (about $14,000) still in her bank card. She had never been a big spender and believed that with these savings, she could live comfortably for the rest of her life.
However, after witnessing the money distribution today, Lan Ruolin felt that in less than two years—no, perhaps as early as next year—Su He’s assets would surpass her own.
She had the smarts and big-heartedness; she's going places.
"Alright, alright, let’s go home. Tonight, I bet everyone will be too excited to sleep," Fu Dajun said with a laugh.
Wu Yanhua felt his words were pointed and gave him a look.
He was totally talking about her. Wu Yanhua didn’t know about the others, but she was certain she would be up all night.
Wu Yanhua's savings now amount to almost three thousand dollars, not counting the two thousand Su He’s holding.
This sum is truly not a small amount.
Anyway, it's time to hurry home, dig out their earlier savings, and count how much has been saved altogether.
She and Fu Dajun never forgot that they need to build a new house for Fu Tinghua.
The money is all ready, just waiting for spring to arrive.
Three thousand dollars is more than enough to build a single-story house these days.
Moreover, with the help of their other three sons and Fu Dajun, only the raw materials would cost money, and a thousand ought to cover it.
Wu Yanhua hasn’t brought this up with the other sons yet, but in a few days, while everyone’s in a good mood, it will be the right time to mention it.
The couple has always felt they’d failed their youngest son and daughter-in-law.
Regardless of what Su He was like in the past, kicking the youngest son out was an extremely irrational decision on Wu Yanhua's part.
She has always feared that Su He would hold a grudge against her for what she did back then, so she has been thinking of ways to make things right.
The location has already been chosen—a new house will be built on the garden behind this mud house, and then the mud house will be torn down. The area where the mud house stands will be turned into a garden, and a small courtyard will be added, creating a front yard with a garden.
That’s the plan, but ultimately, her husband and sons would have to figure out the design, as Wu Yanhua knows nothing about building houses.
"Alright, let’s head back. Da Ya, Zhuang Zhuang, come with Mom and let’s go home," Zhang Xiaohua called out.
Zhuang Zhuang was still holding onto Su He’s leg, and upon hearing it was time to go home, he pouted, looking a bit unhappy.
"I want to stay at Auntie's house," Zhuang Zhuang whined, looking at his mother.
"Auntie doesn't have a room for you," Zhang Xiaohua shot back irritably.
Both she and Fu Guoqing were honest, straightforward people—how come they ended up with such a mischievous son?
"Auntie~" Zhuang Zhuang turned to Su He, pleading.
Everyone in the family—whether parents or grandparents—listened to Aunt Su the most, so he hoped Su He would give in.
Su He smiled at Zhuang Zhuang and told him, "Did you forget? Auntie said you can come over tomorrow morning to eat something. What was it?"
At that moment, Niu Niu, who was standing nearby, immediately answered, "Sweet fermented rice dumplings."
Su He glanced at Niu Niu and nodded approvingly. "Yes, Niu Niu has a great memory—it's sweet fermented rice dumplings. The night will fly by. You can come to Auntie’s house tomorrow morning—it’ll be exactly the same."
Being praised by Su He made Niu Niu's face turn red right away. At his young age, he didn’t understand why Auntie’s words made him so excited that his heart raced and his face flushed. Later, he kept thinking about the moment she praised him and their conversation in his mind.
Seeing that Su He had praised Niu Niu, Zhuang Zhuang felt mad at himself that he hadn’t been the first to answer—otherwise, Auntie would have praised him instead.
"Alright, everyone go home now. Be good and sleep well tonight, and tomorrow morning Auntie will make you delicious sweet fermented rice dumplings," Su He said, coaxing the whole group of children.
Amidst the children looking back wistfully at Su He, the Fu family children were finally just led away by their parents.
Before leaving, Wu Yanhua kidded, "Hey, these kids—they’re not nearly this reluctant to leave me or their own mothers."
After the crowd dispersed, only Su He, Fu Tinghua, Lan Auntie, Zai Zai, and Niu Niu remained in Su He’s home.
"Come on, Mom will give you a bath. Zai Zai, Daddy will help you later," Su He said, holding Niu Niu in her arms and putting her down on the floor.
"Mom, I can do it myself," Zai Zai protested.
Having someone else bathe him felt way too embarrassing.
Before, it had been Su He bathing him because Fu Tinghua had been working late shifts lately.
Even though influenced by his age, Zai Zai’s behavior unconsciously mirrored that of a younger child, he still retained memories of being an adult. There were many things he wanted to do on his own, but his parents were so protective—they still wanted to bathe him, brush his teeth, wash his face, and dress him.
"Are you sure you can manage? Mom is worried you’ll take too long. It’s cold now, and you might get sick."
After all, the bathing facilities in the countryside were still pretty basic, and it was easy to get cold.
In the future, when they returned, they should try to bathe earlier—it was too chilly at night.
Still, taking a hot bath and immediately getting into bed would help keep them warm.
"I’ll be quick," Zai Zai insisted.
Su He looked quietly at her son, then nodded in agreement.
It was a good thing for her son to become independent early—she ought to support that fully.
To be honest, Zai Zai often helped Su He take care of Niu Niu, saving her a great deal of worry.
He was truly a little angel.
Zai Zai was the practical, hands-on type, while Niu Niu provided emotional support—both children were indispensable, each in their own way.
"Alright, let's give Niu Niu her bath first. It'll get even colder later."
Fu Tinghua had already filled the basin with water for Niu Niu, just waiting for Su He to give her a bath.
These days, he hardly ever bathed Niu Niu himself. His daughter was growing up, and these kinds of private matters were better for her mother to handle.
Moreover, once Zai Zai and Niu Niu turned four, they would have to sleep separately.
Even though they were siblings and both still very young, Su He was really big about privacy stuff like this.
