Chapter 135 Getting to the Bottom of It
by 范氏女子**Chapter 135: Getting to the Bottom of It**
Director Ma had just arrived—everything had been handled by others. How would he know where she was?
He snapped at the junior officer who had interrogated Su He, “Answer the question! Where is she?”
The young officer felt wronged but didn’t dare argue. He simply pointed nervously toward the next room and stammered, "In... in the other room."
His current demeanor was nothing like the arrogance he'd shown while questioning Su He earlier.
Hearing this, Fu Tinghua grabbed Su He’s hand and marched into the neighboring room.
The others trailed behind.
Ma, worried that someone might blab in the other room, rushed ahead, hoping to shut everyone up before things got out of hand.
But as soon as the door opened, the junior officer interrogating the suspect immediately said, “Director, the suspect has confessed. She admitted to having a mental illness and already signed and thumbprinted the confession.”
Ma felt like the world went dark—he almost passed out.
“You moron!” he barked at the officer.
The officer was confused. He wasn’t sure what he’d done wrong.
Back then, the walls weren’t as thick as they would be in the future, but interrogation rooms still had some soundproofing. Fu Tinghua and the others had been quiet when they arrived, so no one in this room had heard anything from next door.
“Director, I… it’s done—”
Before he could finish, Ma suddenly grabbed the ink pad off the table and chucked it at him.
God, he’s useless. How did he end up with such an idiot under him?
“I told you to shut up! Didn’t you hear me?” Ma roared, his face red with rage.
The officer swallowed hard. He wanted to argue—*you said “moron,” not “shut up”!*—but seeing the storm on Ma’s face, he clammed up.
“Ting… Ting Hua?”
Only then did Fu Yanju recognize the figure in front of her. She gasped in disbelief.
“Sis.”
Seeing Fu Yanju’s beaten face and body, Fu Tinghua felt his stomach twist in pain.
“Ting Hua!”
She couldn’t hold back anymore. She lost control, rushing forward and clinging tightly to him.
Finally reunited with family, she broke down completely.
Tears poured from her eyes.
She regretted everything. All the men in the Fu family were such good men—she had thought all men in the world were like them.
But alas, she had been so damn naive.
"Sis, it's over now. I'll make every last one of them pay," Fu Tinghua said coolly.
Qi Yunyang and Xia Chengan, trailing behind him, exchanged a look.
Looks like Fu Tinghua was going to see this through to the end.
"It's all a misunderstanding—just a misunderstanding!" Director Ma cut in anxiously.
"Are we done here? My wife and sister are leaving," Fu Tinghua stared at Director Ma, his eyes icy cold.
"O-of course. Don't worry, I’ll handle the Chen family,” Director Ma said, sucking up.
Fu Tinghua didn’t so much as look at him, grabbing Fu Yanju and Su He and walking out.
Even now, Director Ma still had no clue who Fu Tinghua actually was, but judging by how respectfully the other two treated him, he must be someone you don’t mess with.
The Chen family really screwed him over.
As soon as Fu Tinghua left, Director Ma went after Chen Zhijie.
The interrogation room door swung open, revealing Chen Zhijie and a few more Chen family members inside—with not a cop around.
No one had even come to question them yet. Chen Zhijie was running his mouth about his pull, bragging that the woman who hit them would be crawling back to apologize, and unless she agreed to sleep with them, they wouldn’t settle.
The other two were eating it up, grinning despite their injuries.
That’s the thing about having connections—you can act however you want and stay untouchable.
When Chen Zhijie saw Director Ma walk in, he turned on the ass-kissing grin.
He stepped forward, leaned in, and asked, “Director Ma, everything’s handled, right?”
Director Ma stood there with a face like a stormcloud. Suddenly, he raised his hand. A loud *smack* echoed through the room as Chen Zhijie’s head whipped sideways from the blow.
The Chen brothers froze, staring wide-eyed. What the hell?
Did they just piss off the police chief?
Were they gonna get charged?
This wasn’t even their fight—they were just helping Chen Zhijie. None of them wanted to go to jail.
Each of the Chen men reacted differently, but all thinking the same thing: *Don’t let this idiot drag me down.*
Chen Zhijie rubbed his burning cheek, but still kept kissing ass, nodding and smiling like a dog. “Director Ma, what’s wrong? Something happen? Heh, no big deal, doesn’t hurt.”
Who exactly he was trying to convince with that last line was unclear.
It was obvious Director Ma put his back into that slap.
At home, Chen Zhijie was either beating or bitching at Fu Yanju, treating his own woman like crap, playing king shit in his own house. But outside? He was still licking boots after getting hit.
Textbook case of all bark at home, no bite outside.
Put a real threat in front of him, and he wouldn’t squeak.
"What's going on? You've got the nerve to ask me that? You're gonna get me killed!" Director Ma said furiously.
"I... I really don't know what happened. Could you tell me?" Chen Zhijie asked sheepishly.
"Let me ask you, who is the husband of the woman who hit you?"
Chen Zhijie looked completely baffled. Until now, he hadn't realized that Su He was Fu Tinghua's wife.
The truth was, he'd seen Su He before—she used to be so fat it hurt to look at her, and he wouldn't even look her way.
Behind their backs, he had even mocked Fu Yanju's younger brother for marrying such a dog.
Who knew Su He would slim down?
"I... I don't know," Chen Zhijie stammered.
"Ha, you don't know? Then let me ask you this. Does your wife have a younger brother? Do you know him?" Director Ma shot back.
"Yes, I know him. I definitely know him," Chen Zhijie hurriedly replied.
He was sweating now. He hadn't done anything wrong, so why did he just get slapped?
"What does your wife's younger brother do for a living?"
Chen Zhijie thought for a moment and answered, "Not too sure, but I think he's a doctor?"
