Chapter 71: A Piece of Cake
byChapter 71: The Pie
Wen Ying picked up his phone to send a message to Muershi: "I've arrived at the Ferris wheel."
Muershi's phone vibrated. He took it out for a quick glance before putting it back in his pocket and telling the surrounding demons, "He's here. I'll take a stroll with him for a bit."
Wen Ying used his binoculars to carefully observe the people around them. Soon, when he scanned past a demon wearing a hat, he sensed something peculiar - a duplicating aura.
Promptly, he took out his phone, keeping the binoculars trained on the demon while calling Muershi based on his intuition.
"It's hooked," Wen Ying curved his lips. "Don't look back. He's beside the ice cream cart, wearing a black hat. It's a body double. Tell Lan Jiaying and Phileas to step up their game; their movements are still too stiff."
Muershi chuckled. "Alright, I'll talk to them."
Wen Ying shifted the binoculars to focus on his teammates. From Muershi's body language as he spoke to Lan Jiaying and Phileas, it seemed that Muershi was asking for a beating.
Wen Ying then returned the binoculars to the body double. It was still there, queuing for ice cream.
This kind of duplication magic could be replicated. Wen Ying stared at it for a long time. As the Ferris wheel slowly rose, the range of his binoculars widened, allowing him to see the situation on both sides.
The avatar pretended to admire the surroundings, but its gaze was fixed on Muershi and the others. Wen Ying observed it, and an ingenious plan suddenly formed in his mind.
The note mentioned that the Slime Devil, due to its unique abilities, served as a central information hub among the radical group, holding a high status. If he replicated the Slime Devil's shape-shifting magic and transformed into its likeness, wouldn't there be a chance to capture all the ordinary radicals at once?
Wen Ying envisioned countless Slimes hurtling towards him.
His phone vibrated, and he answered it by feel. "Hello?"
"How's the situation now?" Muershi asked. "From where you are, they look like a couple, don't they?"
Wen Ying glanced over. "They do indeed." Haha, he loved seeing Lan Jiaying's powerless rage. There was something inexplicably amusing about Lan Jiaying's frustrated appearance.
Muershi continued, "Lan Jiaying asked me to inquire about that guy. How is he doing?"
"He's been watching you two, pretending to be in line for ice cream…" Wen Ying narrowed his eyes slightly. "He's heading your way."
Muershi immediately whispered to the devils beside him, "He's coming."
Their expressions turned solemn.
"Approximately fifty meters," Wen Ying estimated, whispering the count. "Twenty meters... it's stopped."
Muershi held Lan Jiaying in one arm and Phelios in the other, pressing them close together. Before the two demons could react, he leaned his chin on Phelios' shoulder and said, "Twenty meters, get a little closer."
"Tsk."
Forced to feign intimacy, the two demons felt disgusted but still had to put on a loving display. This would forever be a humiliating memory for them!
When they caught that Slime demon, they'd make sure to give it a good beating. Feng Luo hadn't specified any particular condition anyway.
Muershi placed his phone by their entwined necks, and Wen Ying's calm, composed voice came through the speaker: "Ten meters."
The three demons' eyes narrowed.
Muershi gave Wu Fei a subtle glance, and Wu Fei received the message. Pointing at the towering Ferris wheel not far away, he said, "I've heard that the Ferris wheel in Wind Berth City is a famous spot for dates. You can see the entire amusement park from there. Lan Jiaying, do you want to give it a try with him? You can have a bird's-eye view of the park."
"I'm not interested," Lan Jiaying replied coldly. "I have no desire to go to a place where ordinary demons hang out."
Beros stretched his limbs nonchalantly. "I have no interest in amusement parks. You two can have fun on your own. I'll go find that Slime demon."
"Wen Ying has already gone looking. He might have found a lead by now," Wu Fei said.
Muershi straightened his posture and smiled warmly. "He did say he'd spend the whole day at the amusement park, so there's no rush. It's not often we come to Fengbo City, with its human-influenced design. Let's enjoy ourselves and search later."
"I can't possibly let him take first place," Lan Jiaying released Phileas's hand. "Let's split up and search."
"Buy some more time," Wen Ying's voice whispered to Muershi.
Not spotting any other targets around except for that clone, Wen Ying hoped the main body was still hiding, listening to their guidance, and would eventually come to the Ferris wheel.
Suddenly, Wen Ying sensed a familiar magical fluctuation from one of the gondolas below. It was identical to the magic replication he sensed on the clone. Stunned, he looked away from the telescope and down at the gondola.
The fourth one from the bottom was in a blind spot, so Wen Ying couldn't see the demon inside, but the similar magic signature confirmed the demon's identity.
Feeling strangely awkward, could this be the saying 'searching high and low only to find what you seek right under your nose'? He hadn't even had a chance to execute their plans, and the main target had the same idea – to view the park from the Ferris wheel.
"What's wrong?" Muershi's voice echoed from the phone.
Wen Ying expressed his mixed feelings. "I feel like I've been kicked by a dog." They had spent hours discussing plans – Plan A, Plan B, C, D, and so on, with a backup plan always ready. Yet, just as they started with Plan A, he stumbled upon their target.
Muershi instinctively glanced at Beros. Damn it? Did they do it?
"Why suddenly want to do it with Beros?"
"…" Wen Ying's cursed mood was replaced by an even more cursed one. "It has nothing to do with Beros."
Muershi was shocked. There were other canine demons? !
Wen Ying sat in the corner, straining to see into the fourth pod below. Finally, a demon's shadow leaned out slightly, sitting with its back to him. Wen Ying caught a glimpse of the demon's profile and froze. It wasn't a Slime demon...
Wen Ying confirmed that it wasn't the transformed form of a Slime demon, because he sensed a threat from the demon, a kind of pressure that wasn't possessed by ordinary Slime demons as described on paper.
It must be a high-ranking demon, or almost one.
The demon suddenly turned its head, and Wen Ying swiftly slunk to the side, using the pod to block the demon's line of sight.
In addition to the Slime demon, there was another powerful demon inside the pod? Wen Ying's brows furrowed, sensing that something was amiss.
"Muershi, I found the host body," Wen Ying whispered. "It's in the fourth pod right below me. But there's also another powerful demon inside that pod."
Just now, while queuing downstairs, the two pods behind him happened to be occupied by elderly demons on a visit. Each pod could seat at least six demons, and with about a dozen of them, plus the demonic couple in the third pod, they conveniently created a buffer between Wen Ying and the extremist duo below.
Fortunately, he had concealed his eye-catching silver hair with a baseball cap earlier and temporarily turned his white wings black using magic potion.
Wen Ying pondered if they knew who he was and were deliberately tailing him to do harm. But after much contemplation, he dismissed the thought - there was no point in tracking him. It might just be a coincidence.
Peeking downward again, Wen Ying noticed a golden head across from the demon who gave him an unsettling vibe. The slime demon had transformed into Lan Jiaying.
"Does it make you feel threatened?" Muershi's voice was more solemn than usual.
"Hmm," Wen Ying frowned. "Didn't Feng Luo say that only ordinary extremists were here? Why is there another one who seems difficult to handle?"
This sense of pressure was even stronger than when Lan Jiaying had partially materialized that day.
"Should we go over right away?"
"That clone is still observing you," Wen Ying said. "Split up and come over individually, not together."
Muershi conveyed the message to Beros and the others. As they dispersed, Wen Ying was startled to realize that the clone was following Wu Fei, not Lan Jiaying or Phelios!
Wu Fei? That Slime should be following the delicate mermaid it fancies, not Wu Fei. Their preferences were entirely different; after all, a Black Dragon's physique was robust.
Without immediately calling Wu Fei, Wen Ying observed quietly. The clone had been sticking with Wu Fei the whole time. He then searched for Lan Jiaying and Phileas' locations, but no clones were present around them.
There were none by Boreas' side, nor by Muershi's.
As his gaze shifted back to Wu Fei, Wen Ying's pupils constricted. A second clone appeared, disguised as a balloon vendor mascot, presenting a balloon to Wu Fei.
Taking the balloon, the mascot danced around Wu Fei for a circle before tugging at his hand, attempting to lead him away.
"Woah?" Wu Fei was taken aback. "Uh, I still have some things to attend to, so I can't follow you."
The mascot didn't speak, instead using a childish gesture to beckon Wu Fei to come along.
Suddenly, Wu Fei's phone in his pocket vibrated.
"Wait a moment."
He picked up his phone, seeing that it was Wen Ying calling. Puzzled, he answered, bringing the device to his ear. "Why did you suddenly call me?"
Wen Ying whispered, "Don't follow that doll."
"Eh?" Wu Fei suddenly realized something and looked surprised. He forced himself not to look at the doll, pretending to be casually chatting with his friend. "I'm busy right now and not in the capital. It's impossible for me to return something so suddenly. I'll have to wait until I get back."
"Their target seems to be you," Wen Ying said quickly. "I currently have two clones with me, one is the doll, and the other is following you at a distance behind you, wearing a black hat. Don't worry, they're both useless and weak. Just don't go anywhere strange with the doll. Come straight to the Ferris wheel. No detours."
Stopping in place would only arouse suspicion. Wu Fei had to keep moving forward. Beros and Muershi were walking separately, and Wen Ying couldn't make them find Wu Fei who was constantly on the move. All he could do was urge them to hurry up to the Ferris wheel area at a normal pace.
Wen Ying called Lan Jiaying and Phileas, asking them to continue their pretense as a couple and join the queue for the Ferris wheel later. Beros and Muershi should sit at a table outside the coffee shop next to the Ferris wheel.
After notifying everyone, Wen Ying called Feng Luo and informed him of the emergency. Feng Luo replied that he would come immediately.
The amusement park was quite far from the hotel, so it would take Feng Luo about twenty minutes to arrive.
Wen Ying gripped his binoculars tightly. While watching Wu Fei through them, he also kept an eye out to see if he had been discovered from below. He was nervous.
He had only come to the Demon Realm to study, yet everything felt like a tense and dangerous spy thriller, Wen Ying thought to himself with a grumble.
The slime demon was indeed arrogant, but its words yesterday had been part of a scheme. No, perhaps the slime demon wasn't inherently arrogant, but was merely acting to provide them with false information and lead them to make wrong judgments.
From the start, their target had been Wu Fei. Without much contemplation, Wen Ying knew what they wanted from Wu Fei.
Either to threaten the demons pursuing them, making them hesitant to act against them, or to sacrifice Wu Fei in a blood ritual to boost morale – just like in TV dramas.
But then came the question: Did the Demon King know about this? It seemed likely. Wen Ying pressed his finger to his lips, his gaze darkening. A simple midterm exam had become entangled with so many layers of intrigue.
At a time like this, who cared about grades? Wen Ying thought. Safety was more important. That guy looked tough to deal with, and there might be even more powerful extremist demons lurking within the amusement park that weren't listed on the paper.
Through his binoculars, Wen Ying watched Wu Fei. His gondola had already reached the top of the giant Ferris wheel. He urged Wu Fei and the others inwardly to hurry, as the fourth gondola behind them was about to pass overhead. It wouldn't take long for someone to notice if he kept watching through the binoculars.
After rejecting the doll, Wu Fei continued straight ahead. Perhaps it was all in his head, but he felt as if the surrounding demons were staring at him, sending shivers down his spine.
Wen Ying had said those demons were weaklings, and that the extremists on the paper posed no threat to them. There was only one powerful demon on the Ferris wheel to be concerned about.
On his journey, Wu Fei encountered a young lady dressed as a bunny girl inviting him to a maid cafe, an adorable child demon asking for help finding its mother, and an elderly demon requesting assistance to reach the park's service counter.
Wu Fei grew increasingly fearful. These demons hadn't appeared on the paper. While he couldn't be sure they were all extremists, at least one of them must be!
Boros called Wen Ying, who answered, "What's up?" After realizing Wu Fei was the target of the extremists, he had stopped monitoring the other teammates.
"Any sign of that menacing demon behind you?"
"Not for the moment," Wen Ying replied. "Where are you?"
"I'm almost there," Beros glanced at the enormous sign ahead. "In about a minute, I see Muershi."
"Wu Fei is almost here too," Wen Ying said. "When you see me exit the pod, try to catch that Slime demon. It seems to have taken on Lan Jiaying's appearance now."
Earlier, when he hadn't noticed the second demon in the pod, he had planned to separate Lan Jiaying from Phelios, as that was what had prompted the Slime demon to transform into Lan Jiaying. Now that Lan Jiaying and Phelios were together, the Slime demon might no longer be disguised as her.
Currently, his pod was beneath theirs, so he couldn't see what was happening in the fourth pod above him.
Seeing that Wu Fei was temporarily unbothered, Wen Ying pondered his next move.
He extended his fingertip into the air, slowly replicating the Slime demon's magic. He tried to minimize the fluctuations of the spell's use, hoping only to see its duplicate. After a few failed attempts, he finally managed to create an SR card.
He stroked the card, deep in thought.
The colossal Ferris wheel turned slowly, and Wen Ying's pod descended to the ground. The amusement park staff opened the door, and the male demon blushed – a beautiful female demon dressed as a bunny girl emerged from the pod.
"Please do," the male demon invited her warmly, guiding her to their destination.
The rabbit demoness nodded and smiled at him.
The male demon's heart fluttered, and a hint of doubt arose within him. How come he had no recollection of this beautiful female demon? She seemed like one of the staff from that nearby maid cafe.
As Wen Ying descended, he spotted Lan Jiaying and Philos in the queue, as well as Beros and Muershi seated outside the coffee shop not far away. Wu Fei had yet to arrive, but his silhouette was already visible.
Standing beside the line of demons, he glanced sideways, watching the target pod descending slowly. Two demons emerged from it - one with brown hair, dressed in ordinary demonic attire, tall, and with an androgynous appearance.
The demon beside him didn't resemble Lan Jiaying; it was the appearance of Wen Ying.
In the queue, both Lan Jiaying and Fiers were stunned. Didn't Wen Ying say that he would come out before his target? Yet, they had already seen Wen Ying transformed into a slime demon, but not the demon himself.
Wu Fei arrived just in time, having missed the sight of Wen Ying descending alongside the brunet demon. He caught sight only of Wen Ying standing amidst the queue of demons, prompting him to hasten his approach.
Both Wen Ying and the brown-haired demon were taken aback upon seeing the rabbit-eared demon standing nearby. The brown-haired demon then approached her and whispered, "What are you doing here?" His voice, much like his appearance, was rather effeminate.
"Plans have changed. Anyway, he's here," the bunny devil said, lifting her chin in the direction of Wu Fei, who was approaching rapidly.
Wu Fei, upon catching sight of the bunny girl, felt a chill run down his spine. His eagerness to approach her subsided, and his steps became hesitant.
What was happening with Wen Ying near that bunny girl demon? Could it be that Wen Ying was being threatened or held hostage?
"Wen Ying" suddenly strode rapidly toward him. They were not far apart, and in no time, "Wen Ying" seized Wu Fei's hand and whispered, "Run!"
Without hesitation, he tugged Wu Fei along in a specific direction.
"Huh?" Wu Fei was puzzled, sensing something amiss.
Lan Jiaying and Phileas from the group rushed out promptly. Phileas returned to his original form, taking the lead as he punched the "Wen Ying" who was running while holding onto Wu Fei's hand. Lan Jiaying followed closely behind. As "Wen Ying" was sent flying by Phileas' blow, Lan Jiaying leaped forward and delivered a fierce kick, slamming "Wen Ying" into a large tree, which subsequently toppled over.
The sudden commotion stirred a minor uproar among the surrounding demons, prompting them to retreat.
"They've noticed," the brown-haired demon spoke hastily, "Take that half-breed away."
The bunny girl demon nodded and flew towards Wu Fei. The brown-haired demon, on the other hand, confronted Lan Jiaying and Phileas, who were by Wu Fei's side. The slime demon, realizing its cover was blown, saw the bunny girl heading for Wu Fei and decided to follow. However, it was intercepted mid-route by Berossus and Muershi, who had flown over.
Feeling a chill as the bunny girl demon reached for his hand, Wu Fei summoned flames in his palm and hurled them at her.
The Rabbit Girl Devil effortlessly dodged Wu Fei's barrage of green fireballs, grabbing his arm. Startled, Wu Fei instinctively employed all the close combat techniques he had recently learned.
"Boom!"
A burst of intense magical energy erupted behind them. Wen Ying glanced sideways to see Lan Jiaying and Phileas being sent flying. His gaze sharpened as he easily evaded Wu Fei's punch and the incoming kick.
After sweeping them aside, the brown-haired Devil immediately rushed to assist the Slime Devil. Berossus and Muershi engaged him in a fierce battle, their flames intertwining with the dark green poisonous aura that corrupted the ground.
Muershi's Thunderclap descended from the sky, a dozen columns of electricity as wide as a person, enclosing the Slime Devil. In the next moment, Berossus slammed the creature to the ground, causing the electric columns to dissipate.
"Cough, cough, what's going on, Berossus?" Muershi pushed Berossus off himself. "Can't you handle him?"
Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, Berossus remained silent. Battle rage and malevolence intertwined within him, black flames erupting from various parts of his body. The swirling black demonic aura indicated a dangerous beast struggling to break free. Sensing the situation, Muershi wisely refrained from pressing further and took to the air.
Dividing his attention between Berossus and the battle, Wen Ying felt the wind from Wu Fei's punch graze his face. Wrapping both arms around Wu Fei's punching arm, he spun and threw him away, then pounced, planting his knee into Wu Fei's lower back and twisting his right hand backward while using his own weight to restrain him.
The brown-haired Devil, engaged in a fierce battle with four Great Demon Lineage Devils, saw the Rabbit Girl Devil subdue Wu Fei. Suddenly, her legs transformed into a tail – a snake's tail, long and coiling around the Slime Devil. She then threw the creature towards the Rabbit Girl Devil, saying, "You two take him somewhere."
Wu Fei managed to break free from the Rabbit Girl Devil above him, quickly getting up. After easily dealing with the Slime Devil, he found his movements restricted once more by the Rabbit Girl Devil, who had seized him by the throat.
"Mmm... Let go of me!" Wu Fei cried out in terror, blue flames flickering from the tips of his wings. The bunny demon, burned, released her grip. Suddenly, an ominous alarm sounded, and she swiftly dove aside, evading the blue flame-formed dragon's attack.
The blue dragon crashed into the adjacent café, engulfing it in raging flames, displaying immense destructive power.
"Not bad, your will to survive spikes your combat strength," the bunny demon whispered into Wu Fei's ear before kicking him away.
Wu Fei's pupils constricted as he stared at the curvaceous, high-heeled, bunny-suited female demon in disbelief. What did she mean by that?
Was she... speaking Wen Ying's lines? A string of information flashed through Wu Fei's mind, and as the pieces fell into place, he gaped at the seductive bunny demon in astonishment. Wen Ying?!
The bunny demon stood with one hand on her hip, her posture both lazy and charming, her eyes sultry and mature.
No, no, no, how could Wen Ying be like this? Wu Fei shuddered.
"Why aren't you leaving yet?!" the brown-haired demon barked impatiently.
The slime demon, who had just been knocked down by Wu Fei, hurriedly scrambled to its feet. "Lord She Ang, we'll take the target away right away!"
Upon finishing his words, he immediately instructed the bunny devil, "Hurry up, hurry up! The teachers from the academy must be on their way. We have to make the most of our time."
The bunny devil nodded and, together with the slime devil, they surrounded Wu Fei from both sides. With blue flames emanating from his body, Wu Fei felt somewhat reassured. These two devils weren't particularly terrifying; he could endure and perhaps even turn the tables.
The bunny devil made the first move, her feet rapidly tapping the ground as she closed in on him. After a fierce exchange, she suddenly whispered into his ear, "Just pretend to lose and let us take you away. I'm Wen Ying."
There was no need for pretense. Overwhelmed by shock upon hearing these words, Wu Fei forgot to defend himself and was kicked away by the slime devil, rolling several times on the ground.
The slime devil looked at its foot in confusion. Had its speed and strength increased?
It didn't take long for the slime devil to retrieve a glowing rope from its spatial magic tool. As if it had a mind of its own, the rope flew over and bound Wu Fei several times.
"Let's go!" The slime devil lifted Wu Fei into the air and took off.
Phileas caught a glimpse of this out of the corner of his eye and immediately rushed forward, only to be inadvertently blocked by Muershi. The two devils collided, and Phileas exclaimed angrily, "Get out of the way!"
Muershi grabbed his shoulder and quickly whispered something into his ear before rejoining the battle ahead.
Phelios sat frozen, his pupils trembling with shock, and his lips quivering.
T-T hat alluring bunny demon... I-I is Wen Ying?!!!
Overwhelmed by his astonishment, Phelios was sent flying by the poisonous demonic aura of the brown-haired demon. Barely managing to erect a magical barrier before the poison could invade his body, he was still sent soaring through the air.
Wu Fei pretended that his flames had gone out again, struggling relentlessly to break free from the ropes that bound him tightly, from his neck down to his ankles, making him resemble a mummy. His wings were even entangled within.
The slime demon holding him sneered, "As expected of a demon with human blood, possessing the lineage of the Black Dragon Clan yet being so worthless. Humans truly are weak, and you've dragged down the reputation of the Black Dragons. I wonder how the Devil King can tolerate such a useless creature like you."
Wu Fei: "..." Though he could, in fact, defeat this slime demon, his shock earlier had rendered him vulnerable, leading to his being kicked away.
He stole a glance at the bunny demon, who was none other than Wen Ying, but still couldn't bring himself to look her directly in the eye. The turmoil within him was overwhelming.
"W-Where do you intend to take me?!" Wu Fei shouted in anger and alarm.
The slime demon chuckled, "Hmph, of course, to make a demon tainted with human impurities valuable, and to alleviate the sin of your birth."
Wen Ying: "..."
Wu Fei: "..."
The tone sounded like they were involved in some cult activity.
Wen Ying, fearing exposure, didn't speak much during the journey. Whenever the demons saw them, it would cause a minor commotion. Some of them immediately picked up their phones to make calls, seemingly alerting the city's guards.
A tremendous noise came from the Ferris wheel area. Wen Ying turned his head, his expression slightly startled. It felt like the end of days, with thunderclouds rolling and looking as if they were about to crash down. Lightning bolts struck continuously, while a blue fire dragon roared amidst a sea of black flames. A massive wave, resembling a tsunami, could be vaguely seen, with what seemed to be a mermaid atop it. Water coalesced into a giant palm that slapped down.
The area was shrouded in a dark green mist, and amidst the turmoil, Wen Ying caught sight of a gigantic snake head.
The monstrous sound drowned out the screams of the demons.
"Don't worry," the slime demon said smugly, "Although those demons have powerful bloodlines, they haven't fully matured yet. Lord She Ang can help us hold them off."
"You're right. They're just immature creatures," the bunny demon smiled confidently, "Let's hurry on."
They flew forward, Wu Fei struggling symbolically. Wen Ying looked around, still recognizing their location as the amusement park. The slime demon led them behind a fake mountain waterfall, pressing a hidden mechanism that revealed a passage within the rocks. He pulled Wu Fei inside.
Time was running out for his polymorph spell, causing Wen Ying to feel anxious, though his outward appearance remained unchanged.
Upon entering, to their surprise, it wasn't a tunnel but a cramped space, identical to the exterior of the artificial mountain.
"It's time to regroup," the Slime Devil nonchalantly tossed the mummified Wu Fei onto the magical pattern on the ground before stepping in himself. After a moment of hesitation, Wen Ying followed suit.
If push came to shove, he could always use the teleportation scroll left behind by his great-grandfather to escape with Wu Fei to the Human Realm. He was confident that the Demon King would come to the Human Realm to retrieve Wu Fei and bring him back to the Demon Realm.
It was a small teleportation array. After the magical patterns were illuminated, Wen Ying closed his eyes to avoid temporary blindness from the bright light.
When he opened his eyes again, they were still in a confined space. They were now in a basement. The Slime Devil dragged Wu Fei forward before suddenly turning his head to ask, "Why aren't you speaking?"
The buxom Bunny Devil let out a coquettish giggle, causing Wu Fei to shudder. She leaned closer to the Slime Devil and said lazily, "I'm tired."
"Tired or not, you can't slack off. We'll have more work later," the Slime Devil replied, uninterested in this type of Bunny Devil. He turned his head back and continued walking forward.
Wu Fei felt that he wouldn't be able to look at Wen Ying in the eye anymore. How could Wen Ying, a male devil, walk so gracefully and skillfully in such high heels? And just now, he had even fought Wu Fei wearing those heels!
Wen Ying's attire seemed to mimic the Slime's transformation magic, but how did he manage to control the... alluring charm of the high heels and Bunny Devil? It was as if he could wield it effortlessly!
The sound of the high heels echoed loudly in the basement.
Walking for a short while, they came across a wooden staircase leading upward. Upon reaching the top, Wen Ying discovered that it was a standalone house. Through the windows, he could see that they were in the outskirts.
They should still be within the boundaries of Windmoor City, just on its outskirts.
"Aha, ha, ha! You've finally arrived, and it seems like you succeeded," a demon suddenly leaped forward, pinching Wu Fei's cheeks as it examined him from both sides. "Not bad, it's indeed him! Did the two of you catch him?"
The Slime Demon proudly declared, "Yes, Sir Snake Ang was dealing with those guys with the Greater Demon bloodline, while we defeated this one."
"Tsk, tsk. As expected, humans are trash. Despite being a Black Dragon and having half human blood, he couldn't even defeat the two of you," the demon cackled, still pinching Wu Fei's face mockingly.
Wu Fei: "..." He felt that he could do it again. This demon was only at the tenth level on that paper. No matter how useless he was, he shouldn't have been unable to defeat them. Just how useless had his reputation in the Extreme Party become?
"What do you want?" Wu Fei demanded.
"Of course, we'll use you to exchange for our great Lord Lionze!" A demon exclaimed emotionally, "That damned Nine-Tailed Fox! If it weren't for their ambush, how could Lord Lionze have been captured? Kid, if I were you, I would have killed myself out of shame for having half human blood. Humans should be our slaves. With slave blood, you shouldn't still be alive and so carefree."
"Luckily, we overheard that you were coming to Windmoor City. Fate is truly on our side!"
"Before using him to exchange for Lord Lionze, let's use him to heal Lord Shuihua first! He has human blood, and his emotions can be transformed into anger for consumption!"
Amidst their excited chatter, Wu Fei, despite his gentle nature, couldn't help but feel angered. He was even on the verge of lashing out, but Wen Ying hadn't given the signal to act yet.
Just as he was lost in thought, he heard the bunny devil that Wen Ying had transformed into ask, "How is Lord Shuihua's injury?"
A devil sighed, "Being injured by that damned Nine-Tailed Fox at the source, even high-level healing magic takes time to work. This half-breed Black Dragon came just in time. He can feed Lord Shuihua with some of his Black Dragon vitality through human emotions."
Wen Ying thought to himself, it seems like I've hooked a big fish? Let's see more.
"Come on, let's quickly take this kid to Lord Shuihua."
Several devils carried the bound Wu Fei up to the second floor. Wen Ying followed closely behind, blending in with the crowd without saying a word. The extremely excited radicals didn't notice him at all.
None of the radicals would have imagined that an enemy had infiltrated their ranks.
Wu Fei was a little scared, but when he was brought to Lord Shuihua's room, he saw a devil lying on the bed, barely breathing. His heart sank into silence.
Wen Ying took a few glances and realized from the aura that this was a mighty devil! His eyes instantly lit up. The transformation spell was almost over, so he pushed past the devil in front of him and approached.
"What are you doing?" the Slime devil asked doubtfully.
"I'd like to try the healing magic I recently learned," Wen Ying said. "I've heard it can transfer vitality from one demon to another."
The radicals were skeptical but still said, "Well, go ahead and try then."
According to the absorption method of half-blood demons, they can only extract half of a being's vitality. However, if the approach employed by the bunny girl demon proves effective, they would be able to transfer all of this Black Dragon's life force—alas, leaving behind a modicum solely for the sake of negotiating with Lion's Swamp.
Beneath the expectant gazes, the rabbit demon's tail extended toward the mighty devil lying on the bed. Suddenly, a platinum tail ring appeared on the tail, and a watery elemental cage instantly enveloped the weakened grand devil on the bed.
Surrounding demons: "?!"
Shuihua opened his eyes, barely managing to lift a finger. The watery prison trembled in response.
"What do you intend to do?!"
"Vile traitor!"
The surrounding demons grew agitated, launching their attacks at the rabbit demoness. Wu Fei was enveloped in a green flame, his wings spreading abruptly. The ropes binding him snapped with a resounding twang!
"How is this possible?!" the slime demon exclaimed in astonishment.
Wu Fei kicked first, the normally timid second prince of the Demon Realm now simmering with pent-up anger and frustration, unleashing his fury within the room with extraordinary bravery.
Wu Fei held back the others as Wen Ying continued to try controlling the weakened grand demon. Shuihua, being a water-type demon, couldn't be contained by the water prison. Wen Ying then produced dozens of vine magic cards. Thick vines instantly burst through the roof of the house, ensnaring the extremist demons around them.
Shuihua was bound in the center by the entangled vines, which were as thick as the trunk of a centuries-old tree.
As the transformation spell wore off, the bunny girl demon transformed into a white demon. The white demon unfurled its white bat wings behind it and smiled at the stunned extremists, radiating harmlessness and purity.
"A... Angel?" a demon gasped.
"Angel my ass, that's the Academy's Mirror Demon!" the Slime demon spat, his face twisted with rage, his eyes bulging. He understood everything now, all of it!
"Mirror Demon?!" The shock still lingered. Could a Mirror Demon release such a level of vine magic instantly? To bind Lord Shuihua so tightly, even if he was weakened, was not something an ordinary low-ranking demon could do!
"You..." Shuihua glared at Wen Ying, panting heavily. This was a thin demon with gray hair, seemingly around Lai Yehua's age, though Wen Ying wasn't certain. It was difficult to determine a demon's age.
His struggles were as feeble as a kitten's, the force he exerted against the vines giving Wen Ying no sense of having captured a grand demon.
A grand demon? He had captured a grand demon among the extremists? Behind him, the ordinary extremists were still in the room, and Wu Fei was unleashing his full power while taking revenge for their earlier insults. Chaos ensued, with the scene resembling a battlefield.
Wen Ying sat calmly on a vine, contemplating the mysteries of demonic existence. He reached for his phone to call Feng Luo, but suddenly, a magical teleportation disturbance emerged from beneath the collapsed house. A weakened demon pushed aside debris, emerging from the wreckage.
He was in a pitiful state, covered in blood with numerous terrifying wounds. His movements were weak as he surveyed his surroundings, clearly confused by the situation.
"…What's going on?" Seeing Shuihua bound by vines, She Ang's pupils constricted. Instinctively, he tried to retreat, but it was too late. The frenzied Wu Fei knocked him out with a single punch.
"Cough...cough..."
A vine lifted the fallen She Ang and presented him before Wen Ying, who waved at the nearly lifeless demon with a smile. "What a coincidence, we meet again."
"You son of a-!" A thin vine gagged She Ang's mouth.
Today had been utterly absurd. It was like a free pie falling from the sky, and before he could even grasp the reality of capturing a powerful demon, another extremist arrived on the scene.
Buy one, get one free?
Amidst the burning emerald flames of the ruins, Wu Fei managed to regain some composure after knocking out all the demons. Gasping for air, he slumped to the ground.
By the time Feng Luo arrived, he was greeted with a horrifying sight: a vine tree entwining several half-dead demons, including the high-ranking demon Shuihua at its core and the wanted She Ang beside him.
A white demon sat at the tip of a vine branch, legs crossed as if contemplating the intricacies of demonic existence. Beneath the vine tree, a black dragon demon reclined against its trunk, similarly lost in thought about their demonic life.
Feng Luo: "..." He retrieved his phone and, with a crisp click, snapped a photo to send over to the Demon King.
Wen Ying spotted the approaching group of demons and flew towards them, saying, "You've finally arrived. I was on tenterhooks, fearing that some extremist faction might abduct them."
Feng Luo: "I don't see any fear in you."
He glanced at Wu Fei beside him, who clearly had just come out of a battle. In contrast, Wen Ying was impeccably dressed, a polar opposite to Wu Fei's wild and rugged appearance. There were still black marks on Wu Fei's face from his own flames, leaving him looking dusty and disheveled.
"Wen Ying spoke softly, "How can you say that, Teacher Feng Luo? Have you seen the mid-term exam scores?"
"...For this final exam, the two of you have tied for first place."
There's no need to calculate scores or even pay attention to the gains of other students. With just one Shuihua, it's more than enough to overshadow the capture achievements of other demons.
The four demons who had just engaged in a fierce battle with She Ang received the news. Lan Jiaying almost spat out blood in shock, his fist slamming into the ground beneath him, cracking it like a spiderweb.
"Perceive, Mirror!"
