Chapter 82: The Trade
byChapter 82: Transaction
Wen Ying was so eager for the next day that he woke up before dawn. Checking the time, it was only five o'clock.
Lying in bed without any intention of sleeping, Wen Ying got up and went downstairs. Seeing Aruda had yet to prepare breakfast, he took charge of it for the day. After finishing,
He deliberately prepared three small plates with abundant and nutritious ingredients, filled to the brim with breakfast for the three devils. For Beros, Wen Ying added another potion more suitable for him. Then, humming a tune, he carried them upstairs and knocked on Beros' door.
Beros had a restless sleep last night due to the chills. He woke up only when he heard the knocking outside. He threw off his covers and almost closed the door directly.
"Wen Ying, are you awake?" Wen Ying tilted his head and smiled while holding the food, "I made breakfast today and brought it up for you."
Beros: "..." He was careless yesterday, but not today.
He checked the time and saw that it was only seven o'clock.
"Why did you wake up so early?"
Wen Ying couldn't suppress the smile on his face. He forcibly restrained his overly radiant joy, which now made Beros feel like "Dalong is taking his medicine."
Perseus gazed suspiciously at the dark breakfast in Wen Ying's hands, asking, "What did you put in there?"
"I added a magical potion, recommended by Aluda, to boost magical strength."
Could it be that his foreboding feeling last night was due to this breakfast? Perseus felt like he had found the reason and took the plate, telling Wen Ying, "I'll eat it."
After saying that, he closed the door, placed the food on the table, and hesitated to eat it. He packed it into a bag and stored it in his spatial magic tool, planning to find a knowledgeable demon to examine its components and determine which potion could have triggered such an early warning.
Wen Ying shrugged as he saw Perseus shut the door. It seemed that Perseus regarded the breakfast as a hazardous item.
Though unintended, this would make Perseus less cautious, and Wen Ying wore a sly smile.
He finished his breakfast downstairs, prepared some for Little Bai, and then went upstairs to check his travel supplies.
Satisfied that everything was ready, just around eight o'clock, Wen Ying received a message from Lu Qingyuan.
Lu Qingyuan said he would initiate the summoning spell at precisely nine minutes and five seconds past the hour.
Hearing Perseus leave the room, Wen Ying glanced outside, guessing that Perseus was going to inquire about the progress of the new body-enhancing potion.
He released Little Bai through the window.
"Little Bai, keep an eye on the entrance for me. If Perseus is about to leave, come and inform me immediately."
"Chirp." Little Bai nodded and swiftly leaped away.
After a while, Wen Ying heard Perseus returning to the adjacent room.
Waiting until nine o'clock, Wen Ying left his room and knocked on Perseus's door.
Perseus was doing homework and opened the door, asking, "What's up?"
Wen Ying peered in and spotted the workbook. He chuckled. "Do you have any potion-making questions you can't solve? Since you're here, feel free to ask my great-grandmother if you need help."
That was indeed true. Perseus pondered for a moment.
"Or me," Wen Ying offered, smoothly entering the room. Perseus's brow furrowed slightly as he moved further in.
The time was 9:02.
On the desk lay an exercise book. Wen Ying took a seat directly in front of it. Pelos walked to his side and asked, "Have you finished this assignment?"
"Not yet." Without even glancing at it, Wen Ying was currently reading the problem.
It was a type of interpretative magic botany question. A blend of several poisonous herbs that would cause paralysis for an hour. The task was to identify which magical plants should be used to formulate the antidote.
It was an open-ended question.
The time was 9:04.
Pelos stood by, curiosity lacing his voice as he asked, "Which magical plants do you have in mind?"
"Zia grass and Scattered Gold, as the base powder."
Pelos seemed deep in thought.
"What comes next?"
Wen Ying gently grabbed Beros' arm and pulled him closer, directing his other hand towards the homework book. Beros' attention followed Wen Ying's hand, and he let out a soft "Hmm?" in response.
The time was 9:05.
Suddenly, a magical pattern light circle spread beneath Wen Ying's feet. Beros' pupils constricted as he recognized the familiar magic pattern and energy fluctuations. He abruptly realized what was happening and tried to retreat, but Wen Ying held tightly onto his arm, preventing him from escaping within those few seconds.
At the instant he sensed the magical pattern transportation beginning, Beros' expression turned desperate.
- So the breakfast earlier was fine. The problem lies here.
Amidst the familiar dizziness, Wen Ying waited for his body to crash onto the ground, but it didn't. It seemed like there was a wall beside him, and his shoulder collided with the vertical surface.
As Wen Ying regained his senses, he felt something on his head, nibbling wildly at his hair. He lifted his hand to take down the puppy on his head, but the puppy clung onto his hair, causing Wen Ying to gasp in pain.
"Ouch... That hurts!"
While grappling with Beros, Wen Ying took the opportunity to observe their surroundings. The environment was both familiar and strange.
"...A bathroom?"
This toilet cubicle was just spacious enough for one person, but it felt cramped with two. Lu Qingyuan squeezed himself to the side, leaving some space for Wen Ying's wings.
"Why did your summoning location have to be in the toilet?"
Lu Qingyuan explained the reason to Wen Ying.
As he listened, Wen Ying struggled with Bellerophon, finally rescuing his hair. However, his once smooth silver tresses were now a mess, resembling a bird's nest.
Bellerophon vented his frustration by spewing out sparks of fire from his nose. With numerous silver strands of hair clenched between his teeth, the slightest touch of flame reduced them to ashes without a trace.
Lu Qingyuan noticed the fierce look in the dog's eyes and swallowed nervously, overcome with fear.
Despite that silver demon attacking him that day, Lu Qingyuan sensed that the creature's nature wasn't inherently evil. He didn't seem to be a brutal, bloodthirsty demon. Thus, Lu Qingyuan took the risk of being caught and expelled from school to strike a deal with him.
"Um, where is my cousin right now?" Lu Qingyuan asked cautiously.
After managing to somewhat tame his hair, Wen Ying replied with a gentle smile, "In the Realm of Magic."
Lu Qingyuan: "???"
Lu Qingyuan's eyes widened in astonishment, muttering, "...The Demon Realm?"
Why would his ordinary cousin be in the Demon Realm? !
"Wen Ying brushed his hair, which had many tangled ends, with effort. "It's a long story, so let's not get into it now. Just know that he's safe there."
"But... but!"
Wen Ying patted his shoulder. "Relax, he has a demon protecting him, and he can even bully them."
Lu Qingyuan was puzzled. "? ? ?" How could his cousin, with his demeanor, bully demons?
Wen Ying's tone shifted, his voice turning low and cryptic. "This is a secret. You won't tell anyone else, right? If you do, I can't guarantee his safety anymore."
Lu Qingyuan nodded vigorously, like a chick pecking at rice.
Boros huffed, but the sound from the puppy was not as deep and magnetic as Boros's true form; instead, it was a whining noise. Wen Ying, forgetting his previous pain, promptly picked up Boros, who was perched on his shoulder, to brush his hair again.
In no time, his hair was messed up once more by Boros, resembling the unkempt look of a street beggar.
"Well," Lu Qingyuan asked tentatively, "What about that demon?"
Previously, Wen Ying had mentioned that the dog was a demon. Why did his Demon Summoning Magic Pattern summon two?
"My friend," Wen Ying smiled and held out his hand, "Ten thousand in cash."
Lu Qingyuan handed over a red envelope, and Wen Ying took out a dozen bottles of magic potions from his spatial bracelet.
"This one's for healing, this one's for poisoning, this one's an antidote, this one causes paralysis, and this one makes you break out in bug bites..."
Lu Qingyuan: "...” There were only two bottles for healing, while the rest were either poisons or antidotes. He initially thought that this demon wasn't bad, but now he wasn't so sure. Was this Demon Mirror a formidable figure in the Realm of Demons?
The place was truly cramped, and Wen Ying couldn't fully extend his wings, making him rather uncomfortable. He took out the potion Aruda gave him to transform into a human and drank it down. Soon, his wings, tail, and horns began to shrink, and his silver-white eyes and hair turned black.
Before long, he transformed back into his human form, but there was a significant difference from when he was purely human. His aura was different; previously, he would blend into a crowd without standing out, but now, passersby would take notice. The change in his inner self resulted in a distinct change in his demeanor.
His vitality, spirit, and appearance had all undergone subtle changes. With his altered demeanor and mindset, even Wen Ying's father might not recognize him in this human form at first glance.
It was like the difference between being with makeup on and off.
Wen Ying was well-prepared, pulling out his sunglasses and hat – the same ones from the amusement park – to tuck his long hair under the cap.
Lu Qingyuan was astonished to witness a demon transforming into a human for the first time. Wen Ying gave Bellos the same potion, but instead of turning into a human, Bellos transformed into a puppy with an appearance resembling that of a human. Even in this form, he was adorably handsome, with his red eyes turning blue.
Unable to resist, Wen Ying hugged Bellos, wanting to kiss him. The puppy extended its two front paws, one holding Wen Ying's face while the other slapped his cheek softly but firmly.
"Watch yourself!"
Wen Ying reluctantly put Bellos down, only for the puppy to immediately climb onto his head and sit there.
"That's enough. You can go back now," Wen Ying told Lu Qingyuan. "I'm going to have some fun."
Lu Qingyuan was still uneasy. "You're just going to that exhibition, right?"
"Relax, I won't do anything bad. I'm a good demon." Wen Ying grinned, revealing his straight teeth. With his black hair and dark eyes, he resembled a gentle, obedient school heartthrob.
After sending Lu Qingyuan away, Bellos, no longer needing to worry about outsiders, leaped up and kicked at Wen Ying's face, attempting a barrage of kicks... only to be held tightly by Wen Ying's arms, unable to break free and letting out frustrated howls in his embrace.
Wen Ying laughed wickedly, speaking with a hint of malice, "Bellos, you can't beat me in the human realm, so..."
Boros's movements suddenly froze, and the puppy lifted its head to look at Wen Ying with a profound sense of disbelief. "You can lay hands on me like this? You have such a heavy appetite?"
Wen Ying's wicked smile also vanished, his lips twitching. "I'm not that into it... No, I've never had a heavy taste."
Boros looked disdainful, clearly not believing him.
Although he was looking down on him, from this angle, Boros' back was pressed against Wen Ying's chest, being held by him. He looked up straight at Wen Ying, while Wen Ying looked down. From Boros' perspective, it was incredibly adorable. He couldn't resist and quickly pecked Boros' black nose.
Boros: "!" If you've already taken action, then you're definitely heavy-handed!
Wen Ying spoke calmly, "Humans are like this towards cats and dogs."
"Do you know how perverted you look from my perspective?" Boros said, but he couldn't help recalling the sensation just now. His nose was itchy and he wanted to scratch it.
