Chapter 276 – Declaration of War
by 夜阑妖歌Chapter 276 - Declaration of War
"You're going to say that to whoever asked you?"
In Lan Jiaying's dormitory, Lan Jiaying looked at Wu Shaluo, who was eagerly rubbing his fists.
Wu Shaluo lifted the corner of his mouth, full of confidence. "This time, I'll definitely knock him down for good."
Snow Demon Ice Spear: "Your words seem to have been misunderstood by humans."
Wu Shaluo glanced sideways. "Hm?"
He thought for a moment and said nonchalantly, "Misunderstood or not, it's no big deal."
"Compared to me, there are rumors about Belos flying all over the place," Wu Shaluo said with a hint of schadenfreude. "Do those humans even know the value of the first demon Belos fell in love with? I just don't understand his taste."
Dragon Snake Weiyun wondered, "Although Wen Ying is currently the strongest among us, will Belos still like him when we all reach adulthood and our powers have increased? He values strength the most, doesn't he?"
Lan Jiaying's lips curved into a robotic, shallow smile, devoid of any emotion, like a handsome and majestic king statue, exuding an aura of dominance and authority from within.
"I have a feeling Wen Ying has something up his sleeve. He hasn't toned down his arrogance lately at all," Lan Jiaying said. "I suspect that the angelic bloodline within him might have some other function. Wu Shaluo, don't underestimate him."
Wu Shaluo rolled his eyes and crossed his arms confidently. "I refuse to believe I won't be able to beat him after I've reached adulthood."
Yan Kuo: "He could always ask Bellos to give you a beating."
"Doesn't matter," Wu Shaluo licked his lips, his body brimming with battle intent and a murderous aura. His voice was rough and excited. "Bellos can't be by his side all the time. As long as he can't act arrogant in front of me, it's fine."
For some reason, Lan Jiaying didn't have high hopes for Wu Shaluo. After being tricked by Wen Ying several times, she had PTSD whenever she encountered him, feeling that nothing good would come out of it.
It wasn't appropriate for a prince of the demon world like him to say such things; it didn't fit his status.
After a tedious class on theoretical demonic potions, Wen Ying sneezed.
Everyone took out their phones and continued browsing the internet for gossip.
Having not touched their phones for the entire class, they noticed a sudden change in the online hot topics.
"Oh my god, a massive spatial portal has appeared in Country R, and an extremist group is invading on a large scale."
Wen Ying leaned in, ears perked up. "What's going on with R Country?" He glanced at Lu Qingyuan's phone while retrieving his own.
"I'd almost be entertained if it weren't so close to home."
"Hmm... I didn't feel much when a few tiny countries were occupied before, but this time it feels like war is truly imminent."
"Will our student council be sent to the front lines?"
"It can't be that quick, right? R Country isn't exactly a pushover."
As Wen Ying read the news on his phone, confusion swirled within him.
Something about the situation just felt off.
Speaking of which, was it really impossible for the Demon King and the leaders of the powerful races to eliminate the extremist faction within their own realm? Even if they couldn't, their tolerance seemed excessive.
An idea flashed through Wen Ying's mind, causing his pupils to constrict.
Warfare was ingrained in the very DNA of demons; no amount of infrastructure could quell that innate desire for conflict.
Perhaps the Demon King and his ilk had deliberately allowed the Extremists to flourish, so they could use them to do things they themselves couldn't.
He had been too naive before, completely trusting the official narrative of the demon realm that they couldn't eliminate the Extremists because they had infiltrated the masses.
"Tsk."
The rift for war had already been torn open, and the call to charge had sounded.
If he guessed correctly, in a few days, the Demon King would feign sending more demonic soldiers to aid them, further invading the human realm and weakening the barrier in preparation for the arrival of mid-ranking demons.
To dispel any suspicion from the human side that the demons might be orchestrating this themselves, using the Law of Deception, the Demon King would likely announce himself as the next king beforehand. Using the excuse that "the next Demon King is of mixed angelic blood," they would display their sincerity to the humans and alleviate the Law's vigilance.
The Demon King was truly cunning and sly. No wonder he hadn't come after Wen Ying; his attempts to disrupt the Demon King's plans had barely made a difference in the end result.
"Wen Ying, you... Why do you look so grim?" Lu Qingyuan casually glanced over and was startled by Wen Ying's dark and menacing gaze.
Wen Ying turned his head. "Hm?"
"You just now..." Lu Qingyuan looked at the seemingly calm Wen Ying and hesitated, not speaking.
"What's wrong?"
Lu Qingyuan shook his head. "It's nothing." The terrifying illusion still lingered in his mind like a haunting memory.
