    Chapter 260: A Letter

"Wen Ying, just head back to Mu City. I'll be there soon," Wen Ying said.

    Beros: "You're going over?"

    "Mm-hmm, my main body."

Before Beros could ask any questions, Wen Ying demonstrated a grand act of splitting into multiple bodies right in front of him.

    Beros's eyes widened in surprise.

Wen Ying checked his stock of magic cards; the marionette card was almost depleted. He'd have to find time to see Di Ji for more magic usage.

A few hours later, Wen Ying's main body returned to Mu City while Wen Dingjue was still on the plane. As Wen Ying entered his room, he suddenly noticed a letter on the windowsill.

He opened the window and retrieved the envelope, examining it carefully before opening it. Scanning through the contents at a rapid pace, he noted the quality of the paper and its gilded edges, inwardly criticizing its ostentation. After reading the content, he raised an eyebrow, walked over to his desk, pulled out a sheet of paper from the pen holder, and wrote a sentence on the back of the letter with a flourish.

Go ahead and expose us if you dare.

Wen Ying nodded in satisfaction at their audacity. He stuffed the letter back into the envelope and returned it to its original spot.

He hoped that the Church would take it away.

After putting down the envelope, Wen Ying went to the living room sofa to play on his phone. His parents had been working from home lately, each in their own study, leaving the vast living room deserted.

A few hours later, Wen Dingjue arrived.

As soon as he entered, Wen Dingjue said, "It feels great to be back. I almost didn't make it out of Asaph. I won't be traveling abroad anymore."

Wen Ying replied, "That's not what you said when you left in the middle of the night."

Wen Dingjue coughed awkwardly. "Do you have any plans to deal with this? I can offer some suggestions."

"A few hours ago, I saw the note they left at my window," Wen Ying continued. "They're threatening to expose our Wen family's demonic heritage unless I go to a specific location alone."

Wen Dingjue instinctively asked, "Why would they threaten to expose your strong human bloodline instead?"

    Demons despise hybrids.

"Wen Jing, the Demon Mirror, is actually human, Wen Ying," Wen Ying touched his neck. "I've utilized my innate magic, in conjunction with the marionette of the Ghost-faced Puppet, to create a corporeal avatar capable of external movement."

"What you see is my true form, while my mirror avatar is currently at the Exorcist Academy."

Wen Dingjue's eyes sparkled. "Little Ying, you truly have great potential! You've accomplished what no other Demon Mirror has!"

Despite Wen Dingjue's praise, Wen Ying didn't feel any joy; instead, he felt even more unreliable.

"By the way," Wen Dingjue recalled, "are you going to agree to their request? It sounds very dangerous."

Wen Ying raised an eyebrow. "Of course not. I'm not going anywhere near them."

    Wen Dingjue nodded. "Right decision."

Then, he grew worried. "But they might expose our family's secrets."

Going or not going, both options were troublesome. It was enough to drive a demon mad.

Wen Ying spoke without any sign of tension: "Our bloodline will inevitably be exposed to the public given the current situation."

Wen Dingjue's face was filled with concern: "The family might suffer financial losses and reputation damage, but if they find out that you have human blood, and a significant amount at that, they'll surely look down on you. You've worked so hard to fit in with the elite young demons of the Devil Realm."

Hardly? Wen Ying's eyes narrowed slightly as he recalled his life in the Devil Realm. Initially, it had been challenging, but soon he was taming Hellhounds, plucking feathers from malevolent birds, and stepping on the heads of flood dragons.

Wen Ying refocused his gaze on the distressed Wen Dingjue, choosing not to reveal the truth.

"It won't happen," Wen Ying said calmly but with conviction. "They won't be able to look down on me."

Wen Dingjue looked at Wen Ying doubtfully. "Putting aside other factors, let's talk about your boyfriend. Do you really think Beros would still be with you after he finds out about your predominantly human bloodline? He's quite arrogant."

An image of Beros' swishing tail flashed through Wen Ying's mind, along with the recent scene where Beros voluntarily joined him in bed without needing to be coaxed. He hesitated before saying, "I don't think he'd want to break up."

Beros seemed to like him a lot lately, so much so that he even allowed Wen Ying to touch his ears. Besides, Beros already knew.

Wen Dingjue disagreed, "Don't put too much trust in devils. To a Hellhound like Beros, strength matters more than emotions!"

Wen Ying scratched his cheek with his index finger. "Actually... he already knows."

Wen Dingjue's pupils trembled. "What do you know?"

"I told him that I have human blood, a significant amount of it," Wen Ying replied. "He didn't mention breaking up."

Wen Dingjue looked at him with the expression of someone watching a love-struck fool, his voice laced with exasperation. "How can you be so careless?"

Wen Ying said, "Great-grandfather, it seems like the Demon King already knew about this from the start."

    Wen Dingjue's expression cracked.

"Don't worry too much about this. I have a plan. For now, stay in Mu City and don't go out. I'll take care of the rest."

"Little Ying." Lin Tianbao's footsteps and voice drew closer.

"Oh, Dad, you're back. Is everything alright?"

"I'm fine, it was a close call."

Wen Ying asked, "Dad, why did you call me?"

Lin Tianbao hesitated, "My parents want me to attend my cousin's wedding. It's in the city next door, but considering the current situation, do you think it's appropriate for me to go?"

A brilliant idea suddenly struck Wen Ying, and he replied with a smile, "Go, why not?"
