The Lu Family

Upon receiving the message from the Lin family, the Lu family all looked displeased.

"I knew the Lin family was nothing but scum!" Lu Ming thought of his elder brother's situation, his heart aching with hatred for the Lin family.

Back then, they had been eager, but now they couldn’t distance themselves fast enough, their words full of contempt for his brother. He wished he could destroy the Lin family.

"Enough," Old Madam Lu said, noticing the varied expressions on her family’s faces. "With A-Hang's condition, if someone is willing to marry into our family, no matter who they are, they're good enough. If any of you dare to disrespect or mistreat her, don’t blame me for showing no mercy."

Her grandson’s condition indeed made marriage unsuitable, but she had no choice.

They treated their eldest grandson well now, their faces full of sympathy, but even filial piety wears thin when illness drags on, let alone mere brothers. No one could care for A-Hang forever, so she had to be the bad guy, hoping only to make amends by treating the bride well once she entered their home.

"If she treats A-Hang well, I’d be willing to treat her like royalty," Zhang Xiaofeng said, her heart aching for her son. After making this promise, she hesitated and added, "Mother, I heard that Lin Nannan isn't all there mentally and is a bit wild. Can she really take care of A-Hang?"

Old Madam Lu gave her a sharp look. "Compared to Lin Qingqing, I’d much rather have Lin Nannan. That girl might be rough around the edges, but she’s strong and can take care of A-Hang."

In truth, the Lus knew that having any willing bride was blessing enough. After hearing the matriarch’s words, they felt Lin Nannan was even more suitable. Thus, both sides agreed, and the marriage was settled.

The Lins feared complications, while the Lus needed someone to care for Lu Hang. The wedding was set for just three days later...

These words made Lin Nannan’s eyes widen in surprise. She hadn’t expected the Lus to be so considerate, knowing exactly what the original owner (of this body) had most desired.

Shunned by the Lins, the original owner had longed for a home—a family of her own where everyone treated her well.

Even being simple-minded, that had been her deepest wish.

"Sit here. A-Yuan, keep your sister-in-law company," the matriarch called.

Hearing this, Lu Yuan quickly exchanged a few words with her friends before running over. "Grandma, what is it?"

"Stay with your sister-in-law and make sure she eats and drinks well, understand?" the matriarch instructed.

"Got it! Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her," Lu Yuan promised.

The matriarch trusted her granddaughter to handle things well.

Today’s wedding was the Lu family’s way of giving Lin Nannan an answer—and letting everyone know that they still valued Lu Hang, refusing to let his injury change anything. It was also a slap to the Lins’ face, so she had to entertain the guests properly.

Lin Nannan sat on the stool, curiously watching the bustling crowd, finding it all rather novel.
