Chapter 8

The Reason for the Time Travel
The other Lus raised no objections, as they each had their own land. However, since Lu Hang had been away from home and unmarried, his portion hadn't been divided out.
Lin Nannan thought for a moment before nodding. "Two mu is fine."
"What else?" Grandma Lu asked again.
"That's all I need!" She believed the Lu family wouldn’t mistreat her. If they did, she'd cut them off.
Such a minor request was easily agreed to by the Lu family.
Seeing their agreement, Lin Nannan let out a quiet breath of relief.
There was a reason behind her actions.
Previously, she had thought that after her soul crossing, she would lose everything. Unexpectedly, the space imprinted with her spiritual mark had followed her through their faint connection. She had only discovered this a few days ago after recovering her energy. However, due to a malfunction, the space’s functions were almost entirely gone.
The only thing she was grateful for was that, fearing the unreliability of the time machine, she had sealed the seeds, restorative fluid, and a few small items in multiple layers. These had come through relatively intact. After careful inspection, she found that everything else—everything she'd hoarded over the years—had been completely destroyed, leaving nothing behind.
She needed to get these seeds planted pronto. Otherwise, not only would they tax the space's dwindling power, but once the energy was exhausted, the seeds would vanish along with it.
Her only way out was to plant the seeds, then shut down the space. After gathering enough seeds and necessary supplies, she would use the space’s last gasp of energy to send them back...
Whether it would succeed, she didn’t know. But it was a Hail Mary play—her only option.
She couldn’t return. The space simply didn’t have enough energy left...
...
With the trivial matters settled, Lin Nannan was steered into the bedroom by Lu Yuan, who reminded her, "Eldest sister-in-law, just call out if you need anything."
Lin Nannan nodded.
As soon as she entered, she met Lu Hang’s deep gaze but didn’t avoid it. After closing the door, she walked up to him, looked him up and down, and asked, "Have you eaten?"
A simple question, yet it put Lu Hang oddly on edge. He answered seriously, "Yes."
"Are you going to sleep now?" she continued.
Lu Hang hesitated before murmuring an "Mm."
Lin Nannan glanced at him. "Let me shift you to the wall side so I won’t disturb you when I get up."
Lu Hang, accustomed to being alone, hesitated. "If I sleep inside, my family won't be able to tend to me as easily."
"I’m here," Lin Nannan said without hesitation. "I’ll haul you out tomorrow morning after you wake up."
The moment she mentioned "hauling," all of Lu Hang’s protests got stuck in his craw.
What others saw as difficulties were nothing to her.
Seeing his silence, Lin Nannan didn’t say more. She simply started moving him inside, then made quick work of changing into nightclothes and plopped down next to him...
With a stranger suddenly invading his personal space, Lu Hang felt completely rattled. But he didn’t know what to say—after all, in his current state, not being seen as a burden was mercy enough.
He didn’t want to ruin Lin Nannan’s life. As he agonized over how to explain the situation, he felt a head lean closer and a hand patting around his person. Instantly, he got goosebumps all over.
Though he couldn’t move, his sense of touch was heightened. He asked hoarsely, "What are you doing?"
