Chapter 105
by 夏至三候Chapter 105
Sweet Revenge
Seeing Feng Wu wailing in agony, a pitiful mess, Jiang Qianqian felt an overwhelming sense of sweet revenge.
This bastard almost destroyed her life.
From Lu Ming, she had learned that it was her sister-in-law who tipped off her mom about him. Otherwise, she might have remained stuck in denial, even to the point of harming her own family. The more she regretted her past actions, the deeper her hatred for Feng Wu grew.
How could such a man ever deserve her heart and soul?
If he meant nothing to her before, he certainly wouldn’t mean anything in the future.
Feng Wu had come with the intention of taking Jiang Qianqian down with him. But when he realized how brutally he was being beaten, and that Jiang Qianqian showed not an ounce of sympathy—only glaring at him with pure hatred—he knew she knew all his dirty secrets.
At that moment, Feng Wu was genuinely remorseful.
Though he had initially approached Jiang Qianqian with shady intentions, she wasn’t a bad person—she was beautiful, gentle, and worst of all, submissive. When his mother fell ill, she took care of her diligently, putting up with his mom’s outbursts. She would reassure him, saying it was fine, which only fueled his ego, making him believe Jiang Qianqian would never leave him. And yet, in the end, he had lost her completely.
Staring at Jiang Qianqian, who now seemed like a completely different person, Feng Wu knew he was finished.
He could never return to school, and there was no chance of reconciliation with Jiang Qianqian. After the beating, instead of continuing to hound her relentlessly, he snuck off with his mom, tail between his legs.
When Jiang Qianqian heard the news, she was a little stunned.
She shared it with Lu Hang and the others, saying, “I thought he’d cling to me to the bitter end. I never expected a beating from my sister-in-law would knock some sense into him so quickly.”
“Isn’t that better? If he hadn’t left, your sister-in-law and I were planning to take you back with us,” Lu Hang said.
They had been worried about Jiang Qianqian staying alone, fearing Feng Wu—a slimy, selfish creep—might pose a danger to her. They had considered transferring her to a school closer to home, where she could be looked after more easily, giving the family reassurance.
“Ha! Now that he’s bolted, I’m safe. I don’t have to leave school after all!” Jiang Qianqian was overjoyed.
She had grown accustomed to life here and didn’t want to leave the people she knew.
Besides, the whole incident hadn’t affected her much. At worst, folks might see her as gullible—but wasn’t it normal for a young girl unfamiliar with the ways of the world to be a little foolish?
Lin Nannan and Lu Hang exchanged glances, amused by her reaction and satisfied with how things had turned out.
“Next time you look for a partner, keep your eyes wide open,” Lu Hang advised, feeling partly responsible but also aware that Jiang Qianqian’s excessive trust had played a role.
Jiang Qianqian immediately shook her head wildly, her face full of resistance. “I don’t even want to think about dating right now. Every time I do, all I can hear is my mom calling me ‘someone else’s old maid.’ It gives me the icks!”
Lin Nannan covered her face. Her sister-in-law really did a number on her. If Jiang Qianqian ended up never wanting to marry, she’d feel guilty.
“You’re still young. There’s no hurry,” Lu Hang said, completely forgetting that Jiang Qianqian was only a few years younger than Lin Nannan.
“Mhm!” Relieved that he wasn’t pressuring her, Jiang Qianqian let out a relieved sigh.
…
After several days in the hospital, Zhang Xiaofeng was finally discharged.
Though she still felt some discomfort, she could bear it and was eager to return home.
Staying in the hospital day after day, spending money, had left her feeling utterly miserable.
Due to Zhang Xiaofeng and Lu Hang’s health conditions, they managed to call in a favor and purchase an entire compartment of sleeper tickets, so Lu Ming wouldn’t be stuck in a hard seat.
