Chapter 695

Your Daughter Calls the Shots
"Du Du misunderstood, but I didn't. He said it himself to Du Du—that I beat him so hard the carrying pole broke," Zhang Xiaofeng said irritably when the topic came up. "If I had known he was talking nonsense in front of Du Du, I would have broken his legs right then and there!"
Lu Dudu, who had been happily giggling just moments before, her expression suddenly changed, looking at her grandmother in shock, clearly stunned.
Lin Nannan rubbed her forehead, deciding she didn't want to say more since it was impossible to clarify the situation.
"Du Du, don’t be scared. Grandma would only break your dad’s legs, never yours," Zhang Xiaofeng quickly comforted her granddaughter, realizing she had frightened her.
"Grandma," Lu Dudu pleaded with puppy-dog eyes, thinking about her father without legs, "If Dad has no legs, he won’t be able to walk or carry Du Du. Can you please not break them?"
Lin Nannan really wished Lu Hang could see their daughter’s troubled little expression—it would surely eliminate any anger.
Zhang Xiaofeng hadn’t expected their joke to be taken so seriously by the child. She hugged her and said with a smile, "Since our Du Du has spoken, Grandma will listen to you. From now on, if your dad upsets you, we’ll break his legs then!"
"Okay!" Lu Dudu nodded happily, relieved that her grandmother was no longer angry, completely unaware that her father’s unwarranted trouble had all started with her.
After watching the whole scene unfold with amusement, Lin Nannan took a bath, changed her clothes, and calmly went to report the results to Lu Hang.
Lu Hang, who couldn't return home, hadn’t gone anywhere else and was still in his office. Lin Nannan found him easily.
Surprised to see her, Lu Hang asked, "What are you doing here? Is everything done?"
Lin Nannan nodded and walked in, saying, "I’m here to report what happened after you got framed!"
Thinking of his wife’s mischievous streak, Lu Hang rubbed his temples and said, "You didn’t add fuel to the fire, did you?"
After all, his wife seemed to enjoy seeing him get beaten up more than anyone else—a trait he could never quite understand.
"Not really," Lin Nannan replied seriously. "But I have to admit, seeing you get tripped up by our daughter was pretty entertaining."
Lu Hang raised an eyebrow. "So, you came here to laugh at me?"
Lin Nannan shook her head. "Not exactly. It’s just that Mom spoke so seriously that she scared your daughter. Du Du actually thought Mom really wanted to break your legs and ended up pleading for you."
Lu Hang chuckled. "Well, I guess I should thank her then!"
"Don’t ask me about the issues between you and your daughter. I’m staying out of it," Lin Nannan smartly refused to get involved.
If they started bickering, she’d be caught in the middle, and taking either side would be a mistake. It was better to remain neutral.
"Sometimes I feel like you’re the one enjoying our embarrassment," Lu Hang said with a laugh.
Lin Nannan rolled her eyes. "Commander Lu, don’t make accusations without evidence. If you pin false charges on me, I’ll go home and tell Du Du, so she can report to Mom and have your legs broken!"
"See? Your true intentions are showing," Lu Hang said, unsurprised. He stood up, walked over to her, placed his hands on her shoulders, and said seriously, "If my legs really get broken, you’ll have to take care of me for life!"
Lin Nannan didn't take the bait. She looked up at the man taller than her and said proudly, "Broken legs can be fixed. I know how to do that!"
Lu Hang laughed helplessly and tapped her nose. "Alright, stop obsessing over my legs. Can’t we just let them be?"
Lin Nannan covered her nose, acting innocent. "Whether they get broken or not is up to your daughter!"
"Who would’ve thought such a little one could be so fierce, retaliatory, and hold grudges?" Lu Hang mused thoughtfully.
