Chapter 773

Feasting Together
Lu Jianan had known Lin Nannan long enough to understand her temperament—she absolutely couldn’t stand lying around. After some consideration, he said, "Let’s wait two more days. You can move your fingers a little when visitors come or occasionally open your eyes, but don’t act so alert. Anyone who saw that would get suspicious."
He knew it was the effect of that medicine that had allowed Lin Nannan to recover so quickly, but curiosity got the better of him, and he asked offhandedly, "Nan Nan, do you have any more of the medicine you gave Commander Lu? Could I study it?"
Lin Nannan thought of what she had kept for herself and decisively shook her head. "This medicine can’t be recreated, but I can offer you other prescriptions as a thank-you for your help this time."
The healing solution was a crucial treasure for her now, and since it couldn’t be replicated, she wouldn’t give it away again unless absolutely necessary.
Lu Jianan shook his head and said, "I was just curious. If we could figure it out, it would be a life-saving miracle drug. I didn’t mean to ask for repayment—this was my task, orders from above."
"Orders from above?" Lin Nannan was surprised.
"Exactly. Otherwise, how do you think your situation was covered up? The higher-ups arranged it so no one else would interfere. Even your treatment records weren’t logged, so no one could trace it. That’s why we’ve had such peace and quiet," Lu Hang explained with a smile.
If word got out about her recovery, the hospital would be in an uproar.
Lin Nannan understood their thoughtful efforts and said apologetically, "I’ve caused quite a stir."
"Your safety is the top priority. The higher-ups are particularly concerned, which is why they arranged for you to return to Jing City," Lu Jianan explained.
"Don’t overthink it. Right now, recovering your health is what matters most," Lu Hang reassured her.
"Mm," Lin Nannan nodded. She knew her condition had worried many people, so she was fully cooperative.
After confirming a few more details, Lu Jianan left, leaving the two insomniacs looking at each other.
"Lie down first," Lu Hang said, tidying the blankets.
Lin Nannan shook her head. "I’ve slept long enough. Let me sit up for a bit."
Lu Hang checked the time and said, "Mom will be here soon. I’m worried she’ll get scared."
"You’ll have to tell her anyway. They’ll help keep it secret. As long as Lu Dudu doesn’t find out—that little crybaby would give it away as soon as she starts up," Lin Nannan said, her heart sank at the thought of her daughter’s earlier cries.
She missed the children terribly but couldn’t jeopardize the plan, so she had to endure it for now.
Lu Hang thought for a moment and said, "Then I’ll keep you company and chat with you."
Lin Nannan nodded.
By then, dawn was breaking. Lin Nannan’s eyes gradually adjusted from the darkness, and she could clearly see Lu Hang, who had previously appeared blurry.
At that moment, Lu Hang had a stubbly beard, looked worn out, and was pale from lack of proper rest after his injury. Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was the one who had been unconscious.
"You’ve lost weight," Lin Nannan said, reaching out to touch his stubbled cheek.
Lu Hang held her hand and said, "It’s fine. We’ll recover together. Once we’re better, we’ll feast every day and pack on the pounds we lost."
Lin Nannan chuckled and couldn’t help but gave him a light swat. Then she asked, "Does Grandma know about my condition?"
She didn’t want to alarm anyone. Her in-laws knowing was bad enough—if we worry Grandma too, she would feel terrible.
