Chapter 546

The Decision
Lin Nannan looked at Lu Hang with a conflicted look.
This matter required her to return home. What if they wanted to move the graves? She wouldn’t feel right without clarifying things.
The original owner had an extremely close relationship with those people. Even for the original owner’s sake, she had to make this trip. Besides, she had used their name as a shield several times—not going back was out of the question.
Lu Hang also understood Lin Nannan’s connection with them. He frowned and said, "If you go back, you’ll have to take Du Du with you. I’m afraid I can’t join you."
He had already used leave to fetch them. This trip back home could take indefinitely, so it was impossible for him to go along.
Lin Nannan wasn’t surprised; she had expected this outcome.
After some consideration, she said, "I’ll take Du Du back with me. She’s so big now, and the family hasn’t met her yet. Besides, if I go back, you won’t be able to take care of Du Du."
"Du Du can stay here!" Zhou Cuiwei subtly hinted at her idea. "She’s familiar with us, and we’ll definitely take good care of her."
The Lin family all agreed, even nodding in unison, which made Lin Nannan sigh.
If she didn’t know this was sudden, she would have thought they had planned this together.
"I don’t even know when I’ll be back. There’s no way Du Du can stay here," she said outright.
The Lin family looked disappointed.
"I’ll go with you!" Zhou Cuiwei, thinking she had nothing to do at home and couldn’t bear to be apart from her granddaughter, said eagerly.
Lin Nannan was truly taken aback and hesitated. "There are so many people at home. Is it really okay for you to come with me...?"
It wasn’t that she objected; she simply felt there were too many responsibilities at home, and it wasn’t suitable for Zhou Cuiwei to just up and leave with her.
Without hesitation, Zhou Cuiwei said, "The more people there are, the less they need me. I have nothing to do anyway!"
"Nan Nan, let me go with Auntie! I have nothing to do either!" Lin Shuang, jumping in, chimed in enthusiastically.
Seeing everyone getting eager, Lin Nannan worried that if she wasn’t careful, she might end up taking the entire Lin family back with her. She gently but firmly said no, "There will be chances for you to visit later, but not this time. You haven’t been back since the incident, and your father will be worried about you."
Hearing this, Lin Shuang slumped.
In the past few days, caught up in the hospital’s tense atmosphere, she had completely forgotten about her father eagerly waiting for her return.
She knew it wouldn’t be right not to go back, so she reluctantly gave up.
"I’m free, and I can take care of Du Du on the way!" Zhou Cuiwei shot a warning glance around the room, making it clear that no one should stand in her way.
No matter how important things were, nothing could stop her from taking care of her granddaughter.
Zhao Zhi and the others bit back smiles and stayed silent. If their father-in-law saw their mother-in-law’s expression, they wondered what he would think.
She seemed so eager to leave home, as if she couldn’t wait to get away.
Zhou Cuiwei was determined, and Lin Nannan had no choice. She knew that if she didn’t take her along, Zhou Cuiwei might try to follow secretly, which would be troublesome and potentially risky. Since no one in the Lin family objected, she could only agree.
Although it was sudden, they had already been preparing to return, so most of their belongings were packed. The plan remained unchanged: Lu Hang would return to the unit, while Lin Nannan took her daughter and mother back to their hometown.
A Da and A Jian were there specifically as protection for Lin Nannan and the others, so they would definitely accompany them on this trip.
Even with these arrangements, Lu Hang and the others weren’t fully reassured, so they sent extra hands to accompany them and packed more than enough food into their luggage to ensure they wouldn’t go hungry on the train.
