Chapter 19
byChapter 19
Keep going.
"Hang, how could you do this? You know Lin Nannan isn’t thinking straight, yet you still take her side like this. I grew up with you—don’t you trust me at all?" Han Yan retorted indignantly.
"Lin Nannan is my wife!" So, without hesitation, he would only trust her.
Han Yan was beside herself with rage.
"She caused trouble—she called your military unit and had them come arrest you..." In a fit of anger, she made up lies about Lin Nannan, only for Lu Yuan to walk in right as she said it.
"Han Yan," Lu Yuan, already furious, couldn’t hold back when she heard Han Yan stirring up trouble the moment she got back. She roared, "How dare you lie to my brother!"
Hearing Lu Yuan’s outburst, Han Yan thought, *Oh no.* Steadying herself, she turned to Lu Yuan putting on a wounded look. "A Yuan, what lies am I telling? Didn’t Lin Nannan call the military to have your brother arrested?"
"It was my sister-in-law who made the call..." Lu Yuan tried to explain, but Han Yan cut her off immediately. "Couldn’t she handle this without dragging his name through the mud? If the military believed this, imagine the damage it would do to him. Don’t you understand, A Yuan?"
"You—!" Lu Yuan’s face flushed red with rage at Han Yan’s lies. She almost jumped at her but was held back by Lin Nannan.
Lin Nannan smiled and said, "Let her dig her own grave. Your brother knows better."
"Why?" Lu Yuan asked, puzzled.
If she hadn’t seen through Han Yan today, she might have fallen for her manipulation. She was worried her brother would be fooled too.
"Don’t you trust your brother?" Lin Nannan countered.
If he couldn’t even discern something like this, then Lu Hang should just quit thinking altogether.
Of course, Lu Yuan trusted him. If her brother believed Han Yan, she’d make her sister-in-law sleep with her that very night.
Han Yan was hoping someone would snap—or even better, hit her. But Lu Yuan’s anger was restrained because of Lin Nannan, leaving her completely left hanging.
"Keep going!" Lin Nannan encouraged with a smile, watching her.
Han Yan wanted to continue, but under their watchful eyes, she found herself speechless...
"Nan Nan," Lu Hang called out, clueless about the argument but hearing the commotion outside.
Lin Nannan glanced at Han Yan before responding, "I'm here!"
"Come in."
"Alright." Lin Nannan answered, then walked straight up to Han Yan and said with a smile, "Mind moving? You’re in the way."
Han Yan clenched her fists in anger but had no choice but to step aside...
"A Yuan, keep an eye out," Lin Nannan might as well have said, letting Lu Yuan know to guard against Han Yan.
"Got it." Lu Yuan nodded with a bright smile. She thought her sister-in-law was amazing—shutting Han Yan up completely.
Once inside, Lin Nannan shut the door firmly, giving Han Yan no chance to eavesdrop.
The room was dim, but Lin Nannan walked straight to the bedside and looked at him. "Are you feeling unwell?"
Lu Hang saw her staring at him with such concern—and couldn’t help but twitch his lips. He asked solemnly, "What happened? Were you bullied?"
Lin Nannan was pleased with his attitude. Sitting by the bed, she said, "They were badmouthing you. But you’re my husband—hurting you is the same as hurting me. Of course, I wasn’t about to ignore it. Besides, rumors are troublesome, so it’s best to settle things once and for all. Having the military clarify things is a good idea—it’ll also make an example of them..."
damn 🤣🤣🤣
