Chapter 167
by 夏至三候Chapter 167
Seeking Guidance
Business boomed overnight, stirring jealousy among other vendors.
They had been setting up stalls for years but had never seen anything this popular.
The entire Lu family was running around frantically—except for Lin Nannan, who calmly calculated the figures. No matter how much customers bought, she called out the total so quickly that people doubted her accuracy. Yet after double-checking, they found her spot-on—which amazed them even more.
Tian Jia and her group had stayed nearby out of curiosity, observing the crowd. But they were stunned by Lin Nannan's arithmetic skills. On a whim, Tian Jia posed a math problem—and Lin Nannan answered it instantly.
The question was far too difficult for most people to handle, but Tian Jia and her friends immediately recognized the correct answer. It was one that had puzzled them for ages, yet this unassuming woman solved it effortlessly. They were both impressed and slightly resentful.
Lin Nannan wasn’t dressed extravagantly, but her confidence was unmistakable.
Realizing she had answered something unrelated to sales, Lin Nannan glanced sideways at the group beside her. Noticing their stares, she lowered her gaze and continued calculating, leaving everyone astonished by her ease.
To outsiders, it might have seemed like an act—but Tian Jia and her friends knew Lin Nannan was genuinely exceptional.
Despite having baked many pastries, the goods sold out quickly.
Customers came and went, but Tian Jia’s group remained. Their unusual interest did not go unnoticed.
“Is there anything else you need?” Lu Ming asked.
Being the only man present, he naturally stepped forward.
Tang Xiaocheng glanced at Lin Nannan before asking Lu Ming, “What does your sister-in-law do?”
“She farms!” Lu Ming replied casually.
He completely ignored the clinking sounds coming from the backyard.
“A farmer?” The group echoed in disbelief.
Lu Ming nodded firmly. “Yes. Don’t believe me? Ask anyone! My sister-in-law is the best farmer around. Everyone knows.”
“Stop showing off!” Pan Xiaoping slapped his head, scolding him before turning to Tian Jia and the others. “So? What do you want?”
They exchanged glances before Tian Jia hesitantly said, “We just think she’s amazing… We want to learn from her.”
Busy packing up to leave, Lin Nannan slightly narrowed her eyes at Tian Jia’s words. Then she asked, “Why would you want to learn this?”
Tian Jia looked around, then leaned in and whispered, “Our teacher is too busy to teach us properly. These problems have troubled us for a long time…”
Their secretive tone left the Lus confused—but Lin Nannan understood. That earlier question hadn't been simple.
“You’re not locals, are you?” she asked.
Tian Jia nodded without further explanation.
Lin Nannan studied them carefully. Dressed neatly, with bright eyes and youthful energy—they clearly came from good families. And they weren’t bitter or jealous over being outdone by a girl from the countryside. She gave a slight nod and said, “I may not be home. If you come, it will depend on luck.”
She would teach if fate allowed.
Tian Jia and the others didn’t take offense. Instead, they beamed with excitement, nodding eagerly.
Only after obtaining the full address did they finally leave.
