Chapter 213
by 夏至三候Chapter 213
Lin Nannan Surrounded by Bugs
Lu Heng slapped his forehead at Lin Nannan's words, realizing he had indeed fallen into a mental trap—so focused on searching for fragments that he had overlooked this detail.
"I'll go remind the others to spread out and search again. Don’t go too far either. There are no paths inside, and if there’s a hole or something, it could be dangerous. Got it?" he cautioned.
Nannan nodded. "I understand!"
To Lu Heng, Nannan was reckless but sensible, so hearing her response reassured him. He didn’t think much of it.
But when he turned back to look for her, his wife had vanished into thin air.
"Nannan!" He could only follow the trail, calling out as he searched. For the first time, he realized how rebellious his wife could be. Even after agreeing to be careful, she was still reckless.
By then, Nannan had already slipped further in. She watched her steps and scanned her surroundings, noticing that no one had been here before.
Perhaps their sudden arrival had disrupted the others' plans, leaving them no time to explore this area...
She moved forward cautiously, completely ignoring Lu Heng’s warning, and looked around. As she turned, a flash of light caught her eye. She couldn’t help but glance up and spotted a strange, harsh glare coming from a large tree. Squinting, she studied it.
This place was remote—ordinary villagers wouldn’t come here, so there shouldn’t be anything like glass...
With that thought, she rolled up her sleeves and pants, and after a quick glance upward, began climbing the tree.
The deserted tree was covered in moss and crawling with insects. The moment Nannan moved, the creatures—some flying, some crawling—scattered in panic. Some fled, while others flew straight at her, catching her off guard. Startled, her hand slipped, and she nearly fell. Luckily, she grabbed a hanging vine just in time to steady herself.
Faced with the buzzing swarm of insects fluttering around her, Nannan wanted to smack them away...
After all, since arriving here, she had never been embarrassed or bested. Yet today, she almost lost to a bunch of bugs, which frustrated her immensely.
"Once I figure out my bug spray, you’ll be the first to go!" she muttered through gritted teeth. Closing her eyes briefly, she forced herself to stay calm. There were too many bugs to swat, and some might even be poisonous—so she had to endure.
To finish quickly, she climbed faster and soon reached the spot. When she saw what was there, she grinned.
"Just what I needed..." She picked up the object, ignoring the swarming insects, and shimmied down the vine.
Once back on solid ground, Nannan dumped the thing aside and began shaking and patting herself to rid her body of the unwelcome hitchhikers.
In just a few minutes of climbing, the bugs clinging to her made it feel like they’d been with her for a lifetime, making her question her life choices.
Just as she felt like she’d never get rid of them, Lu Heng’s voice reached her, and she immediately called for help.
"I’m here! Come help me!" Her shout made Lu Heng, unaware of the situation, think she was in trouble. Without considering the danger, he rushed over—only to find his miserable-looking wife surrounded by a horde of insects. The sight was weirdly hilarious, and Lu Heng nearly burst out laughing.
"What did you do to get bugs all over your body?" he asked curiously as he approached.
