Chapter 692

Farming
Lin Nannan was back to her old self the next day, feeling fully recovered and full of energy, having slept soundly through the night without any dreams.
After the doctor’s examination, she was given the all-clear to go home.
Since Lu Hang was busy, her mother-in-law and her own mother came to pick her up.
"You still need to rest and recover. It’s a pity it’s not convenient here, and buying things to build her up isn’t easy either," Zhang Xiaofeng remarked, feeling that Nan Nan seemed drained over the past two days and wanting to find ways to help her regain her strength.
"That’s right. You don’t have the energy to take care of Du Du these days, so let her sleep with us," Zhou Cuiwei suggested, to keep Nan Nan from overdoing it.
Since everything had been arranged for her, Lin Nannan didn’t object and agreed right then and there.
Because of her illness, her eldest brother, who was originally supposed to leave yesterday, had put off leaving, wanting to make sure she was fully recovered before going...
With her mother-in-law and mother helping out, Lin Nannan was able to really concentrate on getting her strength back. Household chores and childcare were taken care of, and it wasn’t until she felt so idle that she was about to "go moldy" that she was finally allowed to move around and have some fun with her daughter.
Earlier, they'd kept Du Du at a distance to avoid passing on the illness, but now there was no need for such precautions.
"Come on, Mom will take you out to play!" Lin Nannan said, holding Lu Dudu’s little hand. She then turned to her mother-in-law, who was busy washing and cleaning, and said, "Mom, I’m taking Du Du out for a walk. We’ll be back soon."
Seeing how happy both mother and daughter were, Zhang Xiaofeng didn’t stop them but softly reminded them, "Don't be too long."
"Okay, we’ll be back before mealtime!" Lin Nannan replied.
Her response made Zhang Xiaofeng couldn't help but laugh. "If it weren’t for mealtime, would you even want to come back?"
Lin Nannan immediately protested earnestly, "How could that be? Of course, we’d come back when it’s about time."
Zhang Xiaofeng gave her a look that said 'I know what you're really thinking', leaving Lin Nannan to reflect on her own thoughts.
Feeling as though her mother-in-law had seen right through her little schemes, Lin Nannan couldn’t hold her ground any longer and made a hasty retreat with Du Du in tow...
Being understood so thoroughly was both a little embarrassing and funny for her.
Once they were outside, Lin Nannan stopped dwelling on it and took Lu Dudu straight to the fields. There, they encountered Jiang Wen, who had changed his clothes and was out working the land with everyone else, preparing for planting.
"Are you all better now?" Jiang Wen asked. He had known she was sick and hadn’t disturbed her, but seeing her come out with her child, he could tell she had recovered. Still, he wanted to confirm.
Lin Nannan said with a toss of her head, "Yes, I’m completely fine. If I had to stay idle any longer, I'd have gotten stiff."
Jiang Wen was amused by her eagerness to do some real work. "Don’t start complaining later!"
Lin Nannan shot back, "Don’t think I’ve never farmed before. I know what I’m doing!"
"Then start by plowing the land!" Jiang Wen said, deliberately throwing the toughest job at her to test her.
He expected Lin Nannan to be intimidated, but instead, she not only showed no fear but was also highly enthusiastic.
Lin Nannan was strong. Although she had eaten lightly during her hospital stay, her mother-in-law had really gone all out to prepare nutritious meals for her at home, so she was now fully recovered and in good condition. When everyone saw how quickly and powerfully she plowed the land, their jaws dropped.
Seeing their surprised reactions, Lin Nannan smiled and said, "Back in my hometown, I was like this too. I could plow as well as any man, so don’t worry about me."
She didn’t mean anything by her words, but she didn’t realize that those who weren’t as capable as her might take it differently.
They felt that Lin Nannan was there to show them up.
