Early the next morning, Lin Zhaoyou arrived not only with breakfast but also brought Lu Dudu along.

Lu Dudu had been cheerful when she first arrived, but upon seeing her grandparents, she burst into tears, saying she missed her parents.

Her words pierced through everyone like knives, shattering their hearts.

Fearing she might be frightened, they didn’t take Lu Dudu straight to Lin Nannan’s bedside. Instead, they let her see Lu Hang first.

At this point, Lu Hang looked not only exhausted but disheveled. Although his wounds had been treated, some were still oozing blood—making him appear somewhat frightening.

Du Du, who had already been crying, was so shocked at the sight of her father that she stopped crying altogether.

"Du Du, come here!" Lu Hang hadn’t seen his daughter in what felt like forever, and seeing her so upset broke his heart. Ignoring his injuries, he sat up and took the child from Lin Kangnian’s arms.

"A Hang," Zhang Xiaofeng called out anxiously, worried his wounds might reopen.

"I'm fine!" Lu Hang shook his head slightly. In his arms, Du Du looked up at him with tear-filled eyes. Unlike her usual playful self, she sat quietly, too scared to move.

"Daddy," the little girl’s gaze fell on his bleeding wound, and her lips trembled as if about to cry again.

Lu Hang gently patted her back and said, "Daddy's okay—it's almost healed."

Du Du pouted and said, "Daddy's lying. There's blood—that must hurt a lot!"

"Daddy really isn't in pain," he said softly, stroking her head. "Did Du Du miss Daddy?"

The question instantly brought fresh tears to her eyes. They rolled down her cheeks as she sobbed, "Did Mommy and Daddy abandon me? Mommy said she'd pick me up after a few days at Grandma’s house, but you never came. Did you not want me anymore?"

Her words stunned everyone, including the Lin family.

They had taken such good care of Du Du, yet they’d never imagined she would feel this way.

"Do you have another child now, so you don’t want me anymore?" Du Du cried accusingly.

Lu Hang felt his heart ache with helplessness. Seeing how distressed she was, he quickly explained, "How could that be? Mommy and Daddy don’t have any other children. We've just been busy lately and couldn’t find the time to come get you."

"Really?" Du Du asked doubtfully.

"Of course! Our home in Beijing isn’t ready yet. Once everything’s set, we can all move in together," Lu Hang explained earnestly.

Du Du pursed her lips and stared at him, still pouting.

"But I miss Mommy," she murmured softly. Her tiny voice carried deep longing, and everyone in the quiet hospital room heard it clearly, their hearts breaking.

This little one truly existed to make them cry.

"Mommy misses you too!" Lu Hang whispered, holding her tightly.

Du Du looked up at him and asked, "Daddy, can you take me to see Mommy? I miss her. She said she’d come for me, but she never did…"

Lu Hang didn’t answer. Instead, he held her even closer, careful not to press on his wounds.

"Daddy?" Du Du, unsatisfied with the silence, looked up confused.
