Chapter 272
by 夏至三候Chapter 272
I've Got One Too!
But his wife had clearly come out of concern for him, and he couldn’t forget that heartfelt gesture… yet, he truly couldn’t take it anymore.
"What if those people had guns last night?" he couldn’t help but ask.
Lin Nannan paused for a moment before replying, "I've got one too!"
As she spoke, she pulled out the latest gun she had modified—compact, lightweight, and completely different from the standard ones.
Lu Hang rubbed his forehead.
Her mistakes could’ve earned her an all-night lecture, yet when faced with her serious eyes, he found himself unable to pinpoint exactly where she had gone wrong.
"This is my new creation. It’s great—silenced and has a longer range than before. Want to try it?" she asked, her tone playfully eager.
Lu Hang took a deep breath to stop himself from losing it.
"How did you even bring this onto the train?" he asked, curious.
How had no one stopped his wife from carrying a gun onboard?
Lin Nannan didn’t answer. Instead, she demonstrated how the gun could be disassembled and reassembled, explaining why no one had been able to detect it during searches—which shut Lu Hang up for good.
Rubbing his forehead, he decided he had nothing left to say.
"I’m tired. Let me crash!" Unable to argue or scold her, he chose to simply rest instead.
Lin Nannan stopped him. "What about your wound?"
"You have medicine?" he asked.
"Of course! Infection-fighting salve. I had to prepare in case of emergencies," she said casually, making Lu Hang couldn’t help laughing.
Suddenly, he wondered—just how much chaos would his unpredictable wife shake up in Nan City?
The medicine Lin Nannan used was a herb powder she had prepared before coming, ground for her by Lu Yuan, who didn’t ask, just helped. He wondered how Lu Yuan would feel about it now.
As she patched him up, Lin Nannan asked him about the situation here. Lu Hang explained his predicament and the reason he couldn’t use firearms, then wondered aloud, "After what you did, who knows how they’ll react…"
"Will they come after me?" Lin Nannan asked nonchalantly, not worried at all.
Lu Hang shook his head. "Since they just hauled their guys off, probably not. But we should still keep our guard up. If necessary, we can move next door."
Considering that their enemies had only watched without acting, likely due to caution, Lin Nannan lowered her voice. "Let’s stay put for now. If this place feels unsafe, the next one won’t be any better. We’ll play it by ear and relocate if needed."
Lu Hang didn’t object. Right now, all he wanted was to hold his wife and sleep like a rock—something he hadn’t been able to do before, only managing to catnap, always on edge. Now, he could finally relax.
After bandaging him, Lin Nannan whispered, "Don’t strain yourself. It’ll heal in a couple of days."
"Okay." As long as the inflammation was under control, there wouldn’t be any major issues. He trusted his wife’s skills completely, without a shred of doubt.
The two of them slept soundly, without a care, while the men they had beaten were left in utter misery.
They had done nothing but run their mouths, only to be robbed, injured, and then punished—all because their superiors feared they might have tipped off their targets.
As a result, the wounded received no medical treatment, left to suffer with half their lives drained. Some were even permanently disabled.
Meanwhile, the streets remained heavily guarded. Disguised as beggars, vendors, or drifters, the surveillance was as tight as ever—something Lin Nannan noticed the next day when she went out to buy groceries.
