    Chapter 509

    Getting Dad a New Wife

"If you don't want to, then just ignore her and just live your life from now on. It's not like this is the first time you've realized your mother is terrible!" After mocking her, Lin Nannan picked up Lu Dudu, who had been playing happily with Lu Hang. Meeting the little one's confused gaze, she calmly said to Lin Shuang, "You can keep crying if you want. We're going to get some rest!"

As she prepared to leave, Lu Hang followed suit. Soon, everyone else began making excuses to disperse, leaving Lin Shuang not knowing whether to keep crying or stop.

Lin Kangsheng and Lin Kangnian exchanged a glance, eyes flashing with amusement...

They still felt some sympathy for Lin Shuang, but Lin Nannan was right—constant crying was giving everybody a headache.

"Alright, go wash your face and rest. Someone like your mother really isn't worth your tears!" Grandma Lin also gave up on comforting her and spoke earnestly.

Zhang Ling had committed a crime and deserved her punishment. If Lin Shuang continued to cry incessantly, it would inevitably get on everyone's nerves, especially since the family utterly despised Zhang Ling.

Lin Shuang cried because she genuinely felt wronged.

But after being rebuked by Lin Nannan, she found herself unable to cry anymore. She thought leaving Beijing might be for the best—that way, she wouldn’t have to endure others' weird looks.

Staying in Beijing meant people would know her background, and who knows how they'd talk about her.

So leaving was the best option. After all, she didn’t want to see the mother who had become a stranger to her.

With that thought, Lin Shuang’s mood felt better. She obediently complied and went to her room to rest.

In the living room, only Grandma Lin and the two Lin brothers remained. She couldn’t help but sigh, "I guess people only really grow up after going through some stuff."

Lin Kangsheng rubbed his temples and said, "Indeed. When I saw her crying so pitifully earlier, I felt sorry for her. But then I thought about what Zhang Ling did, and that sympathy faded."

"She brought this upon herself. She deserves no pity!" Lin Kangnian said disdainfully.

In truth, everyone knew Zhang Ling had never shown much maternal love toward Lin Shuang—it had all been an act put on for the Lin family.

In times of danger, Lin Shuang was always the first person Zhang Ling would abandon.

Lin Shuang probably understood this, which was why she cried so bitterly!

Everyone expected Lin Shuang to be downcast for a few days, at the very least feeling gloomy. But to their surprise, the very next day, she bounced right back, going on about returning to her father and even talking about finding him a new wife...

    This decision left everyone speechless.

"Brother, you don’t mind, do you?" Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Lin Shuang thought of her often-overlooked half-brother and tentatively asked.

Lin Kangsheng's lip twitched and he said, "I don’t mind. Knock yourself out."

Relieved that he didn’t object, Lin Shuang said, "Once my dad finds a new wife, I’ll send you the news. Help me pass it along to her. I want her to regret it so much it eats her up inside. I want her to know that once she’s out, she’ll be truly alone—no one will care about her anymore, not even me."

This petty, childish rant had everyone at a loss for words.

Though they found it a little ridiculous, everyone also felt a sense of satisfaction, so they quietly agreed to help her deliver the message.

Who knows how pissed Zhang Ling would be upon hearing this—after all, this time, the knife was twisted by her own biological daughter.

No one could stop Lin Shuang from leaving. In the end, it was Grandma Lin who insisted on sending some gifts for her and her father, stopping her from taking off in a hurry.

Since both Lin Nannan and Lin Shuang were leaving, and the things to buy were the same, they decided to just shop together.
