    Chapter 73

    Is There Such a Seed?

Lu Yuan and Lu Ming were still students. The reason they were at home was that when Lu Hang had his accident, the whole family was in chaos. Fearing for Lu Hang’s safety, their parents called them back to accompany him while the adults were busy.

When they first returned, Lu Hang had insisted it wasn’t necessary, but no one listened to him. The family was too worried, so they simply arranged extended leave for the two siblings.

Lu Yuan wasn’t entirely wrong—what she had learned had nothing to do with farming. Even though she didn’t understand, she felt there was something deeper to it in her sister-in-law’s words.

Lin Nannan scratched her head in frustration, quickly turning her hair into a tangled mess. It looked rather silly, making Lu Hang couldn’t help but chuckle.

“If they don’t know, just teach them. Why punish your hair like that? Keep scratching, and it’ll get tangled.”

Lu Yuan and Lu Ming laughed till they cried. Eventually, Lu Yuan couldn’t bear it anymore and helped fix her tangled, straw-like hair.

As they walked ahead, the others didn’t follow—likely still arguing.

Lin Nannan said with a tired sigh, “For crops to thrive, the seeds matter a lot. That’s why we save seeds, right? And then there’s fertilizer…” The more she spoke, the more serious the expressions of the others became. None of them had realized farming could be so complex.

After a long pause, Lu Yuan murmured, “I always thought farming was just plowing, sowing, weeding, and waiting for harvest. I never imagined there were so many details…”

“If you never change, you’ll just get left behind.” Thinking of what had happened on her planet, Lin Nannan couldn’t help but sigh as she compared her thriving crops to the scraggly ones nearby.

“But how do we do it?” Lu Yuan looked lost.

Her understanding had been turned upside down, and her emotions were in turmoil. Seeing the crops her sister-in-law had grown, she felt a sudden burst of determination—what if she could grow crops like that too? Could it change the harvests and help more people have enough to eat?

Meeting Lu Yuan’s eager gaze, Lin Nannan pointed to her own crops. “Start here. The differences between the two sides, the results—everything is crucial.”

Lu Yuan’s eyes lit up. “Sister-in-law, can I join you?”

Before, she had just been along for the ride. Now, she was serious about it now.

“Of course!” Lin Nannan had been worried that if she were the only one who cared, it wouldn’t make a difference. That’s why she wanted to convince them—so others would take notice too.

“But I’ll tell you right now—it’s going to be hard and exhausting.”

Lu Yuan glanced at the land where she had grown up and smiled. “No matter how tough it gets, you’ll be by my side, won’t you?”

If her sister-in-law could work so hard, so could she!

The two Lu brothers watched as the girls made such an important decision, awestruck but stayed silent.

Lu Ming stared at the stark contrast between the two sets of crops, his mind racing. He wanted to tell his sister-in-law that he could do it too, but then he thought of his elder brother’s condition. The Lu family would need someone to step up in the future. If he threw himself into farming, people might think the family had given up. So he couldn’t speak up—he had to find another path.

As for Lu Hang, the sight of the two contrasting fields left him too stunned to speak.

To the villagers, Lin Nannan’s thriving crops probably just saw a good harvest. But what he wondered was—did their country even possess seeds like these?
