Chapter 98

Asking for a Bonus
"Look into it!" Zhang Shengguo understood that unless this matter was clarified, Lu Hang would remain in danger...
Lin Nannan walked over to Lu Hang and saw his lips were cracked. She turned to pour him some water, propped him up to take a few sips, then laid him back down...
"I want to sit up!" He didn’t want to lie down at all—lying down made his mind feel muddled—so he said to Lin Nannan.
Lin Nannan had no objections and simply lifted him into a wheelchair, leaving Zhang Shengguo, who had never seen this before, completely floored.
"This..."
Lu Hang calmly looked at him and said, "Without my wife’s strength, I wouldn’t be alive today."
Zhang Shengguo understood and sighed deeply. "If we can catch that traitor this time, it would count as a big win."
"Is there a bonus?" Lin Nannan's abrupt question got her a shocked look from Zhang Shengguo, but she spoke with full confidence. "Shouldn't a big win come with a reward? My A Hang is in this state, and we're barely scraping by. We don’t rely on the military, but if we earn merits ourselves, shouldn’t we be rewarded?"
The two men looked at each other, but before they could respond, Lin Nannan continued, "That mole was afraid A Hang would recover, which is why they took such a risk. Otherwise, they would’ve stayed hidden, and who knows what damage they could’ve caused later. Catching someone like that—doesn’t that deserve a reward?"
Zhang Shengguo, tickled by her logic, smiled and said, "If you really can catch the mole, I’ll fight to get you that bonus!"
Lin Nannan raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
"Really!" Zhang Shengguo thought about what Lin Nannan had said—having such a traitor hidden within their ranks, someone they trusted with their backs only to be stabbed—was terrifying. No matter what, they had to catch the betrayer today.
"Fine, I’ll go now!" Lin Nannan said with confidence, then told Zhang Shengguo, "Watch him for me. I’ll be back soon."
She left swiftly, taking aback Zhang Shengguo for a second before he turned to Lu Hang. "Do you know who it is?"
If not, the couple wouldn’t be so calm about it.
As for the bonus, it might have been Lin Nannan’s idea, but Lu Hang wasn’t stopping her.
"It’s just speculation. Confirmation requires evidence." Lu Hang was always straight as an arrow, but for someone who harmed him and caused heavy losses to their unit, he wouldn’t go easy on them.
Zhang Shengguo closed his eyes briefly, knowing Lin Nannan was pretty much spot-on. Today, the traitor would be exposed.
Lin Nannan had a game plan. She took paper and sketched the faces of A Zhang and the others who had brought them to the guesthouse. Then, she found the men Zhang Shengguo had sent to investigate and told them to use the sketches to identify the person...
"Make sure to note the exact time they arrived, understand?" she emphasized.
Everyone nodded, knowing what was on the line. No one dared to be careless.
Among those who had accompanied them this time, only A Zhang had been present throughout. The others hadn’t, so it'd be easy to check.
Lin Nannan didn’t participate further, instead waiting to hear back.
Her drawing skills were amazing—the sketches were almost lifelike—so they got hits fast.
"Are you sure?" Lin Nannan asked, looking at the sketch.
"Positive. I asked several people, and their stories lined up. Only this person was seen—no one else."
