Chapter 91

Hope for Recovery
Hearing this, Zhang Xiaofeng immediately shook her head. "No need, my niece is familiar with this area. She’s gone back to school now, but once she returns, it’ll be fine."
She agreed with her son—neither wanted to trouble others.
Zhu Yu looked at the thin woman dressed in brand-new clothes but couldn’t see anything special about her. He thought A Zhang was pulling his leg, his expression darkening slightly before he put on a smile and said, "A Zhang, in that case, let’s just get Lu Hang over there!"
"Right, right, let’s pitch in and get A Hang there..." A Zhang quickly agreed.
He didn’t even consider Lin Nannan’s help. After all, with several able-bodied men present, they couldn’t just stand by and watch a woman do all the work.
Lin Nannan had initially intended to help, but seeing Lu Hang give a slight shake of his head, she stepped back to stand beside her mother-in-law and watched as the others worked.
With the wheelchair, they only had to carry him briefly when going up and down the stairs, so the rest was easy.
"A Hang, this wheelchair is really nice. Where did you get it?" A Zhang asked curiously after pushing it, impressed by how smoothly it moved.
Lu Hang smiled and replied, "It was made by someone in the village, just wood. Probably just sanded smooth, so it feels smooth to you."
"But it’s genuinely great!" A Zhang didn’t know how to describe it, but he felt it was well-made, though he didn’t know how to praise it properly.
Zhu Yu glanced sideways and pretended to sound concerned as he asked, "A Hang, what did the doctor say about your condition?"
"The doctor said..." Lu Hang had just begun to answer when Lin Nannan cut in, dead serious, "He’ll definitely recover in the future!"
"Recover?" Everyone chorused, the Lu family looking just as shocked.
"Yes, he’ll recover. Right?" Lin Nannan added, then turned to Lu Hang, waiting for his confirmation.
Lu Hang, for some reason, curled his lips slightly and nodded. "Who knows—maybe the next time you see me, I’ll really be better."
The Lu family were clueless about what they meant, but with outsiders present, they didn’t press further, each lost in thought.
"Really? That’s amazing! Lu Hang, if you really recover, don’t forget about us brothers!" A Zhang exclaimed excitedly.
"Right, you must contact us when that happens."
Everyone jumped in excitedly, and Lu Hang nodded in agreement.
The lively group headed to the guesthouse, and after settling Lu Hang in his room, Zhang Xiaofeng offered to treat them to a meal, but they politely declined.
Once everything was taken care of, they left. Since they had other commitments the next day, only A Zhang would return to see them off—the others wouldn’t be coming back.
The group had arrived in a bustling crowd and left just as noisily, leaving the room suddenly quiet.
"They really care about you, always keeping you in their thoughts," Lin Nannan remarked after closing the door.
Before Lu Hang could respond, Zhang Xiaofeng walked to the bedside where her son was lying and asked skeptically, "Why did you two say there’s a chance of recovery earlier? Are you hiding something from me?"
Lu Fang and Lu Ming also remembered this point and immediately gathered around, waiting for Lu Hang’s answer.
Cornered like this, Lu Hang glanced at Lin Nannan, who was trying not to laugh, and sighed before explaining, "It’s like this—among the relocated elderly, there’s a skilled traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. Nan Nan learned some techniques that can help improve my condition... The reason I said that earlier was just to ease A Zhang and the others’ worries. They’ve been really upset and concerned about me. If they knew I could recover, it’d give them some peace of mind."
"Nan Nan, can you really treat him?" Zhang Xiaofeng asked skeptically.
