Chapter 595
by 夏至三候Chapter 595
Forgetting Her Husband
The little one seemed to understand and slumped limply on her shoulder without making a fuss.
The Lu family exchanged glances, but no one spoke up. They had all been scared by Du Du before, and since they felt she was still young, none of them had ever seriously scolded her—they had just said something lightly with a few words, which weren't harsh enough for her to remember.
"Why did you suddenly come back?" Grandma Lu brought the conversation back and asked curiously.
"Why didn't you come back with A-Hang? He just left today—did you run into him?" Zhang Xiaofeng quickly followed up.
Lin Nannan nodded: "I did. I ate everything he brought. I decided to come back on the spur of the moment—there's something I need to discuss with you all."
"What is it?" Lu Fang, as the one in charge, stepped forward to ask.
"It's not urgent—I'll tell you all in a bit!" Lin Nannan hesitated, glancing at the unfinished baby walker.
Seeing it for yourself would be more convincing. She wasn't in a hurry.
Since she wasn't in a rush, the Lu family felt even less urgency. Knowing she hadn't eaten, Grandma Lu, who had already had dinner, started making her something to eat…
"Just something simple will do—no need to make too much," Lin Nannan quickly said.
"Don't worry about that—just take care of Du Du!" Grandma Lu shot back.
When it came to kitchen matters, Lin Nannan couldn't get a word in—she could only follow their lead.
By the time A-Hang returned, the entire yard was filled with an amazing smell—clearly, something tasty had been cooked.
"A-Hang?" Seeing him rush back, Lu Zheng was pretty surprised.
The couple returning one after the other was truly a rare occurrence.
"Second Uncle," A-Hang greeted him, then his eyes went straight to the two figures in the yard who captivated him the most.
Du Du, having been scolded earlier, sat quietly watching her mother work, neither fussing nor chattering—obedient as a picture-perfect little doll.
Both Lin Nannan and Du Du heard A-Hang's voice and turned their faces toward him simultaneously. Only then did A-Hang notice how similar their profiles were—their expressions, one large and one small, were identical, like looking at an enlarged and minimized version of the same face. It made A-Hang couldn't help but laugh.
Seeing them, he couldn't help but feel happier.
"Why are you back?" Lin Nannan asked.
Not wanting to be left out, Du Du called out: "Daddy, Daddy…"
Her clingy way made Lin Nannan side-eye her.
Without her realizing it, the two of them had grown so close.
A-Hang scooped up his excited daughter, then looked down at his wife, who hadn't stood up, and asked: "Do you remember what you told me earlier?"
Lin Nannan instinctively replied: "I told you earlier…" She trailed off as she recalled what she had promised.
"Remember now?" A-Hang asked with a smirk.
"Hehe, I was just so excited about being able to come home that I forgot," she explained, batting her eyes.
A-Hang had a real bone to pick about this. "You forgot your husband!"
Lin Nannan mumbled under her breath, "A husband I hardly see for days on end and barely sleep with..." It seemed quite normal to forget him.
"What do you mean?" Lu Hang crouched down and leaned in and asked.
Not daring to speak her mind openly, she forced an awkward smile and asked, "Are you going back later?"
"No!" Lu Hang stood up holding their daughter and, noticing the things beside her, asked, "What's this?"
Mentioning her impromptu creation, Lin Nannan said proudly, "You'll find out in a moment."
"A Hang," Zhang Xiaofeng came out with a glass of water and, said in surprise to see someone in the yard, "Why are you back? Have you eaten?"
