    Chapter 376

    The Package Arrives

While Lu Hang was serving her stewed meat with potatoes, Jian Lingzhi was fuming.

Although Lin Nannan had fully recovered from her injuries, getting in and out of the military base was still a hassle. Every little detail had to be scrutinized, leaving her stuck between wanting to leave and not being allowed to.

That alone was frustrating enough. After all, someone had died, but the blame couldn’t be traced back to her. If she couldn’t leave, then so be it. But then, out of nowhere, Lin Nannan had somehow managed to earn endless praise throughout the entire base. Upon closer inquiry, it turned out she had grown some remarkable potatoes and donated them to the military… In short, the admiration was overwhelming, to the point where Jian Lingzhi felt like snapping right then and there.

Lu Hang’s devotion to Lin Nannan exceeded her expectations. She hadn’t even had a chance to get close to Lin Nannan, making the idea of getting rid of her seem increasingly hopeless.

She wanted to persuade Lin Nannan to leave Lu Hang, but Lin Nannan refused, and Jian Lingzhi had no opportunity to confront her. Every time she heard others gushing about how wonderfully Lu Hang treated Lin Nannan, it infuriated her to the point of murderous rage.

How could Lin Nannan possibly deserve him? How could she possibly compare to me?

The more she thought about it, the more she wished Lin Nannan would just disappear.

She used to be the one who received praise wherever she went!

Jian Lingzhi’s hatred for Lin Nannan had shifted from being solely about Lu Hang to something else entirely, but the loathing remained—she wished Lin Nannan would vanish instantly.

“I won’t give up!” she muttered through gritted teeth.

Jian Lingzhi felt she had no chance, so she endured, holding back until she could barely take it anymore. Finally, an opportunity arrived.

    ……

The package from Lu Hang’s family, which Lin Nannan had been eagerly awaiting day and night, finally arrived.

When Lu Hang brought it back, Lin Nannan was stunned for a long time. She hadn’t expected such a large package.

“How much postage did this cost?” she murmured.

“If it’s something you want to eat, Grandma and the others would still send it, even if the postage cost a fortune,” Lu Hang teased, then set the items on the ground and began sorting through them slowly.

Lin Nannan offered to help, but he refused.

“Didn’t you hear Dr. Lu say I’m fully recovered, right?” Lin Nannan sighed helplessly. Even though she had recovered, Lu Hang still wouldn’t let her lift a finger, treating her like a child in need of constant care. It made her feel like she was turning to rust.

“The wound’s healed, but you’re still recovering,” Lu Hang replied. “Just sit there. I’ll sort this out first.”

Knowing her protests were futile, Lin Nannan stood to the side and watched him unpack.

Whoever had prepared the items had been thorough—everything she could have wanted was inside.

There were pickled vegetables, dried preserved mustard greens, homemade dried fish, cured meats…

Looking at all this, Lin Nannan couldn’t help but whisper, “Did Mom and Dad empty out their entire pantry for this…?”

Lu Hang chuckled. “That’s not the case. They still have plenty at home.”

“Let’s send some money back,” Lin Nannan said, still feeling guilty.

Since arriving here, she hadn’t thought to send anything home. But after getting injured, she had grown sentimental, longing for things from home. Now, seeing how much they had sent, she was overwhelmed with remorse.

Without looking up, Lu Hang replied, “No need. I already talked to them before. Dad said they’re still able to manage, and the family doesn’t need anything. They just told me to take good care of you. If you go back even a little thinner, they’ll have my head.”

Lin Nannan blinked in surprise. “When did you say that?”

“When I asked them to send the pickled vegetables.”

“Did you tell them I was injured?” she asked worriedly.

“No,” Lu Hang said, lifting his head. “I was afraid if I did, Grandma and Mom would come rushing over immediately, so I kept it from them.”
