Chapter 625

Returned
"Mom, I want to go out and see!" she begged Lin Nannan.
Lin Nannan, brushing her hair, replied, "Alright, let's go eat. It'll be a good chance for you to see what your dad’s workplace is like."
Lu Dudu could hardly wait upon hearing this.
The mother and daughter woke up neither early nor late. As they walked downstairs hand in hand, they noticed many sidelong glances. Without saying a word, Lin Nannan led Lu Dudu toward the cafeteria...
"Let’s go!" Lin Nannan called out laughingly, noticing the little girl was so captivated by the soldiers training that she was rooted to the spot.
Lu Dudu stared at the figures, tilting her head up to ask her mother, "Is Daddy like that too?"
Lin Nannan, recalling how she had once beaten him up, smiled and said, "That's just what Daddy does. He's really tough!"
"Really?" Lu Dudu asked with curiosity.
"Of course. When Daddy comes back, he'll show you himself." Lin Nannan held her little hand and said, "Let’s go eat first, before the food runs out, or you’ll go hungry."
At the mention of going hungry, Lu Dudu quickly clutched her stomach and hurried along.
Not many people in the residential compound recognized Lin Nannan, but in the cafeteria, she was well-known.
At first, no one recognized her, but when Lin Nannan handed over her lunchbox to get food, the lunch lady recognized her.
"Are you... Commander Lu’s wife?" the lunch lady asked hesitantly.
Lin Nannan, noticing the uncertainty in her eyes, smiled and said, "Hello, Auntie. I’m back. Could I get a little extra?"
"Oh, it really is you! When did you come back? Commander Lu didn’t say a word about it," the lunch lady said cheerfully as she quickly dished out the food.
"He’s busy. He doesn’t know I’m back yet," Lin Nannan explained.
Hearing this, the lunch lady said, "Commander Lu must be on a mission. I haven’t seen him in quite a while." Just then, a little head popped up beside Lin Nannan, catching the lunch lady’s attention. "Is that Commander Lu’s daughter?"
"Du Du, say hello to Granny!" Lin Nannan said, patting Du Du’s head.
Lu Dudu called out in a sweet, childish voice, "Hi, Granny!"
"Oh, hello, hello!" The lunch lady’s voice grew louder with delight, drawing the attention of those behind her. At first, they thought someone was bothering her, but when they saw it was Lin Nannan with her daughter, they all greeted her happily. To an outsider, it might have seemed like Lin Nannan owned the cafeteria.
This scene was observed by many, stirring up mixed feelings—some happy, some displeased.
"Mom knows so many people!" Lu Dudu whispered to Lin Nannan, chopsticks in hand.
"Yes, Mom knows a lot of people!" Lin Nannan couldn’t help but smile at the overflowing lunchbox.
They'd piled on the food, clearly for Lu Dudu, as if they were worried she wouldn’t have enough to eat.
She led her daughter to a corner table and dished out food for her. "Eat quickly. The food here has a different taste than we're used to."
Lu Dudu sat obediently but felt nervous under the many gazes fixed on them. "Mom, everyone's staring at us!"
"Don’t worry, they’re just curious about how much you’ve grown. When you left, you were only this small." She gestured with her hands, which immediately piqued Lu Dudu’s curiosity.
"Really? Was I really that small back then?" the little girl asked in disbelief.
