    Chapter 102

    Feng Wu's Arrest

This made both Lu Hang and Lin Nannan laugh.

Lu Hang hadn’t spent much time with Jiang Qianqian, and even when he occasionally returned, they rarely met. He hadn't expected her to be so level-headed.

Lin Nannan hadn’t been fond of Jiang Qianqian’s romantic naivete before, but now, seeing how calm and rational she was—without a trace of resentment toward Lu Hang for the trouble she’d faced—she found herself growing fonder of her.

Of all the girls Lin Nannan had taken under her wing, aside from Lu Yuan, Jiang Qianqian was the only other one.

"I’m just curious about what’s coming to Feng Wu. Brother, can you look into it?" Jiang Qianqian asked.

Lin Nannan eyed her suspiciously. "You’re concerned about him?"

"How could I be?" Jiang Qianqian looked completely appalled, as if she’d heard something absurd. "After how he schemed against me, how could I care about him? I just want to know what's coming to him."

No one hated Feng Wu more than she did.

That bastard had gone after her so underhandedly.

Her only regret was not beating him up properly. If she’d known he’d be arrested, she would’ve made sure when she and Lin Nannan ran into him that day, letting her teach him a lesson to vent her anger.

When she voiced this regret, Lu Hang and Lin Nannan were torn between laughter and exasperation.

They had thought she still had lingering feelings for him, but it turned out she just wanted to give him what he deserved.

"I think Feng Wu will only be detained for a few days at most," Lin Nannan speculated. "Nothing serious will happen to him. Since he wasn't in on the full plan and never actually got to your brother, there’s no solid charges they can pin on him. He won’t admit anything either, so the most he’ll face is a few days in custody and having his dirty money seized."

"Nannan's got a point," Lu Hang agreed. "He’ll be released. If we’re still here by then, we’ll find a way to make him pay for you."

But Jiang Qianqian wasn’t satisfied. Sulking, she said, "How does a creep like that get to walk away?"

Seeing her frustration, Lin Nannan reassured her, "Him being released is actually better. We can make sure everyone knows what he did—let the whole school know. Do you think they’d keep someone like him? Even if they did, could he endure the sideways glances? He puts on airs, but the fact that he sold you out for cash shows his deep insecurity. Guys like him fold when the heat's on. That’s a far worse punishment. Just wait and see how he ends up."

"Really?" Jiang Qianqian didn’t fully understand these tactics. In her mind, locking Feng Wu up for life was the only way to settle the score.

"Absolutely. Trust me, one look at that guy and I knew exactly what kind of person he is. If I’m not mistaken, once he’s cornered, he’ll come looking for you," Lin Nannan said, laying out the worst-case scenario.

Jiang Qianqian widened her eyes in disbelief. "How could he dare?"

After scheming against her like that, how could he have the nerve to approach her again?

"Why wouldn’t he?" Lin Nannan explained. "If he gets close to you again, it’ll silently tell everyone that the rumors were false—that his feelings for you were genuine. That’s how he’ll try to salvage his reputation. Understand?"

"If he dares, I’ll beat him to death!" Jiang Qianqian gritted her teeth.

Lin Nannan thought for a moment. "If you're by yourself, he’ll definitely try it. Someone that shameless is capable of anything."

She had seen it that day—Feng Wu had wanted to embrace Jiang Qianqian in public to force a relationship, but she had stopped him.

She suspected he’d try the same trick again.

"Then I just won’t go back to school!" Jiang Qianqian said defiantly.

She had no desire to see Feng Wu or get tangled up with him again.
