Chapter 626

Used to It
Lin Nannan chuckled softly, her entire demeanor radiating gentleness.
"That's right, Du Du has grown from being so, so tiny to how you are now."
Lu Dudu chewed on a piece of meat, blinking her eyes as she asked, "Will Daddy recognize me then?"
"Of course! You're his daughter. If he can't recognize you, we might as well ditch this dad," Lin Nannan encouraged.
She said this because, although Lu Dudu had grown taller, her facial features hadn't changed much—she had just gotten darker.
If Lu Dudu stood in front of Lu Hang and he couldn't recognize his own daughter, then this daddy wouldn't deserve to be called Dad.
"But Daddy hasn't seen me in so long. Isn’t it only natural if he doesn’t recognize me?" Lu Dudu tilted her head, her face full of confusion.
Lin Nannan curled her lip and pinched her daughter’s cheek gently. "You’re really something—you haven’t even seen him yet, and you’re already defending him."
Lu Dudu looked at her mother with an eager-to-please smile...
The scene of the mother and daughter interacting was heartwarming, and many people noticed it.
Since she had returned yesterday, she hadn’t left the house, so not many people knew she was back. Now, many who recognized her came over to say hello, and they all found ways to sneak little treats to Lu Dudu. In no time, the table was filled with extra goodies—candies, biscuits, and the like—and Lu Dudu couldn’t look away.
"Lin Nannan," Lu Jianan said, surprised, upon seeing her. "It really is you! When did you get back?"
"Hello, Lu Jianan," Lin Nannan greeted him. "I returned yesterday. I was actually planning to look for you after finishing my meal, but I didn’t expect to run into you first."
Lu Jianan said with a hint of annoyance, "I came specifically to find you."
If someone hadn’t told him they saw Lin Nannan eating in the cafeteria, he wouldn’t have known she was back.
"Why find me?" Lin Nannan asked, puzzled.
As far as she could remember, she hadn’t owed anybody anything!
Lu Jianan glanced at her and said, "Back then, you left abruptly, leaving a mess for me to handle. You left so easily—did you ever stop to think how hard it was on me?"
Recalling the situation at the time, Lin Nannan said apologetically, "It was a special circumstance. I didn’t do it on purpose. Besides, I heard the pharmaceutical factory is doing well now, so there shouldn’t be much for me to do, right?"
"Who said that? There’s plenty for you to do," Lu Jianan replied seriously. "I really do have something to discuss with you. I asked Commander Lu several times before, but he wouldn’t say anything. I had no way to contact you, so I couldn’t reach out."
Surprised to learn such a thing happened, Lin Nannan thought for a moment and said, "Let me finish my meal first. After I’m done, I’ll take Du Du to Aunt Hu’s place and then come find you at the pharmaceutical factory. Is that alright?"
Lu Jianan frowned as he looked at Lu Dudu, who had gotten quite tanned. "Does Commander Lu know you’ve brought the child back looking like this?"
Equally tanned, Lin Nannan glanced at Lu Dudu, whose skin tone stood out from everyone else’s, and said a bit guiltily, "He’ll find out when he comes back and sees for himself."
Lu Jianan gave her a thumbs-up and said, "Alright, come find me at the pharmaceutical factory later. I’ll get back to work now."
After seeing him off, Lin Nannan quickly resumed her meal and explained her plans to Lu Dudu. "I have something to take care of later. The pharmaceutical factory has a lot of small, scattered items everywhere, and it wouldn’t be good if you got hurt. Do you remember the grandma from yesterday? She was really kind to you, and you liked her too. I’ll take you to her place later, and I’ll come find you once I’m done with my work, okay?"
Lu Dudu nodded, used to it. "Okay!"
Since she was old enough to understand, she had been shuttled between various households. Everyone treated her well, and she had gotten used to it.
