Chapter 368
by 夏至三候Chapter 368
Longing for Home
"How long the dizziness lasts depends on the situation. It’ll probably take three or four days. As for the gunshot wound, it depends on the recovery." Lu Jianan took out the medicine he had brought and started her IV...
The thought of being unable to move for several more days made her completely frustrated.
"If I ever find out who tried to kill me, I’ll make sure they experience the misery of a concussion!" she said through clenched teeth.
Lu Jianan chuckled. "No way!"
"How is it impossible? One punch from me would teach them!" she retorted indignantly.
"Don’t get yourself worked up, or you’ll feel nauseous," Lu Jianan soothed. "It’s not that I doubt your punch, but whoever hurt you might not necessarily face death—they'll be locked up for life. A concussion would be too lenient for them."
"Then before they rot in prison, let them try a concussion!" Lin Nannan insisted. "I’d rather be injured than feel like this—it’s the worst!"
Earlier, when she had sat up too quickly, the whole room spun, and she nearly toppled over. It was awful.
"That’s not my call. Take that up with Commander Lu!" Lu Jianan dodged the topic. After finishing the IV, he turned to Lu Hang and said, "Keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn’t move around!"
Lu Hang nodded. "Understood."
Once Lu Jianan left, Lin Nannan didn’t dare act up anymore. Dizziness kept coming in waves, and it made her want to cry...
Seeing her in such discomfort, Lu Hang gently stroked her hair. "Once you’re better, I’ll make you whatever you’re craving."
All the weight she'd worked to gain had dropped significantly in just two days, making his heart ache with guilt.
"I miss Grandma’s pickles..." Lin Nannan said pitifully, her eyes reddening.
This was the first time since arriving here that she had suffered such a setback, and she felt completely miserable.
Lu Hang immediately said, "I’ll call home and have Grandma send us some pickles. What else do you want? I’ll have the family mail it over."
Lin Nannan sniffled. "I want Grandma’s pickles, Mom’s stewed meat, Auntie’s steamed buns..."
She listed a whole bunch of things, but Lu Hang knew she wasn’t just craving food—she was homesick.
With the hidden danger outside still unresolved, and now that someone knew she was here, there was no guarantee what might happen on the way back or whether she’d be targeted once she returned to the village. For now, she couldn’t leave and had to stay in the army base.
"Alright, I’ll call them and have them send everything you’re missing and everything you want," Lu Hang promised.
With his reassurance, Lin Nannan’s emotions finally stabilized.
For someone usually full of energy, being bedridden now was torture. Her frustration and homesickness only deepened her longing for the Lu family...
After Lin Nannan finished her IV, Lu Hang tidied up and was pushed by her to make the call. He had no choice but to tell her to rest properly before leaving the room.
This was the first time since her injury and coma that Lin Nannan had been left alone—until now, someone had always been by her side.
She kept her eyes half-closed, afraid to move, dreading another bout of that spinning sensation.
Just as she was plotting how to catch whoever's behind this and make them suffer a concussion too, she suddenly sensed something strange—as if her space had undergone some change...
Instinctively, she reached out with her mental energy to investigate and was instantly stunned. Her eyes flew open in excitement, but before she could sit up, dizziness struck, forcing her to shut them again. Yet this time, the discomfort didn’t irritate her—instead, she couldn't help smiling.
"I did it!" she murmured, exhilarated.
Since her injury, she hadn’t paid any attention to her space—after all, the things inside didn't mean much to her.
