Chapter 88
by 夏至三候Chapter 88
Can You Still Have Kids?
"If it won't change, then it won’t change. I don’t mind you anyway!" Lin Nannan said bluntly, making Lu Hang laugh quietly and drawing looks from the neighboring patient.
After one night in the hospital, they already knew about Lu Hang’s condition. Yet, they never expected that, even in such a state, a woman would remain so devoted to him.
This kind of devotion made people sigh with both admiration and jealousy.
Lu Hang knew Lin Nannan’s feelings for him had nothing to do with love. Though she made promises, there was no warmth in her eyes—as if it were merely her duty, said without thinking.
He knew she didn't understand, and he also knew she wouldn’t leave. So, he wasn't worried.
"Can you still have kids like this?" Lin Nannan knew some things shouldn't be asked outright, so she leaned in close to whisper the question.
As Lu Hang turned slightly, her red lips landed on his cheek. Both were stunned, neither moving.
"Stop looking at me like that!" Lin Nannan felt uneasy under his intense gaze and immediately covered his eyes with her hand.
Seeing her embarrassed, Lu Hang smiled and let her keep her hand over his eyes without resisting.
"If you’re doubtful, you can always ask the doctor," Lu Hang said meaningfully, referring to her earlier question.
But Lin Nannan showed no embarrassment. Her goal was to have children and work the fields, so whether Lu Hang was capable was crucial. Without hesitation, she actually went to ask the doctors.
Faced with her inquiry, the male doctors were completely stunned. Only after her persistent questioning did they reluctantly admit—there was no issue at all, and he could definitely father children.
Satisfied with the answer, Lin Nannan finally left them alone.
When she returned, she noticed her in-laws’ unhappy expressions. Hoping to cheer them up, she shared the news she’d just received, leaving Lu Fang and his wife both laughing and moved by her thoughtfulness.
Lu Hang knew his wife was using this method to comfort his parents and didn’t know what to say.
With Lin Nannan around, the heavy atmosphere quickly lifted, making Zhang Xiaofeng feel better as well.
Only then did Jiang Qianqian dare to speak up. The earlier atmosphere had been so oppressive that she feared saying anything would invite scolding. Now that everyone seemed happier, she suggested going out for a walk since they’d be leaving the next day.
Lin Nannan had no strong opinion on the matter, but Zhang Xiaofeng, tempted by things they couldn't get back home, decided to take Lu Ming and Jiang Qianqian shopping. Meanwhile, Lu Fang went to buy their train tickets for the return trip.
With everyone bustling out, only Lin Nannan and Lu Hang remained in the ward.
"Don’t you really want to go out? Chances to come here will be rare later," Lu Hang asked.
Lin Nannan shook her head. "I don’t feel like moving. I’m sleepy."
Knowing she was just being lazy, Lu Hang chuckled. "Then lie down and rest for a bit."
"Mm." Without ceremony, Lin Nannan pushed Lu Hang over a bit, took off her shoes and jacket, and snuggled up beside him, adjusting her position so both could sleep comfortably.
Her behavior made people stare again.
By now, they couldn’t decide whether this girl was clever or foolish—her contradictions were baffling.
Lin Nannan fell asleep the moment she lay down. Lu Hang knew she was genuinely exhausted. On the train, she had kept watch the entire time, never truly resting. Now that she felt safe, she could no longer hold on.
