Exquisite Fireworks
At the mention of this, Lu Hang's expression turned grave. "If it really is the Zheng family, the items have probably already been sent out."
"So what if they're sent out? They might not get anything useful!" Lin Nannan said confidently.
Lu Hang was puzzled. "But those are their belongings, right? How could it be useless!?"
Lin Nannan smirked, knowing the truth. "If it’s really theirs, getting it back won’t do them any good. And if it isn't theirs, receiving it won't do them any good either!"
"Huh... that actually makes sense..." Why did his wife sound so sure that those items didn’t belong to them?
But if they weren’t theirs, their country couldn’t have made these things to begin with.
Seeing him lost in thought, Lin Nannan smiled and said, "Even if these were someone else’s, it’d be pointless. If they don’t, those people will assume they’re ours and grow wary because of them, then go all-in on research... Imagine if they waste all that effort and discover nothing, wouldn’t they despise the Zheng family to death?"
The longer she talked, the more she saw the Zheng family as innocent—maybe even heroes. She knew those fragments were hers and had nothing to do with any country. But those who obtained them would undoubtedly throw everything into researching them. Without the right mental capacity, however, they wouldn’t be able to decipher anything with current technology. Instead, they’d just get more scared of them...
"If that’s really the case, then the Zheng family has actually accomplished something huge!" Lu Hang’s thoughts aligned with Lin Nannan’s, though he didn’t know the full picture and could only hope for such an outcome.
"That’s a 'credit' they’d never dare take—they’d rather swallow it quietly..." Lin Nannan smirked mischievously. "Alright, enough talk. Let’s cook, change your bandages, and focus on your recovery. Once you’re better, we’ll give them hell!"
Neither of them was afraid of trouble. Once they settled on a plan, they began preparing in earnest.
Lu Hang already had weapons on him, and with Lin Nannan’s additions, they had nothing to worry about.
He even toyed with the idea of asking Zhang Shengguo to procure some firearms for Lin Nannan to modify—silencers way better than their current gear, ideal for sneaky work.
Lin Nannan was enthusiastic about this idea, even suggesting that if they could get their hands on better materials, she could craft something even more advanced.
"So the reason you didn’t make better ones before was because we didn’t cooperate enough?" Lu Hang couldn’t help but ask.
"Of course!" Lin Nannan replied without hesitation. "What junk did you hand me back then? You know exactly how shoddy those things were. The ones I made later were only possible because Yin Xu got me some decent parts to dismantle and reassemble."
Lu Hang scratched his nose, guilty, realizing that in the beginning, they had only wanted to test her skills and hadn’t considered providing better materials afterward.
"Once we get back, we’ll properly equip you. Ask for anything!" he declared generously.
Anyone who understood how impressive Lin Nannan’s creations were would never refuse her requests.
Lin Nannan pouted. "I’m not really interested in that stuff anymore..."
She was over it.
"Then what do you want to do?" he asked.
Lin Nannan perked up and leaned closer. "Didn’t you say there’s a lot of weapon smuggling around here? Can you track down the source? I can make some *exquisite fireworks* for you—push this button—kaboom over there!"
Her teasing voice oozed mischief, but it made Lu Hang narrow his eyes.
Ordinary fireworks didn’t require tracking down any source—any small workshop could produce them. So her "exquisite fireworks" could only mean one thing...
