Chapter 93
by 夏至三候Chapter 93
Not Knowing When You’re Well-Off
Feng Wu came out with his classmates, looking fair-skinned, neat, and presentable.
When he saw Jiang Qianqian, he acted concerned and said, "When did you get back? Why didn’t you tell me? I went looking for you before, but they said you weren’t at school. Where were you? I was so worried!"
Jiang Qianqian, who once thought he was thoughtful, now felt like her devotion had been thrown to the dogs, leaving her utterly disgusted.
Seeing the men and women around him, her gaze turned cold. "So, you knew my parents took me away?"
"Of course I knew, but I believed in you—that you’d overcome everything," Feng Wu said encouragingly.
Lin Nannan almost wanted to give him a thumbs-up for his expertise at making empty promises.
So, he knew Jiang Qianqian would face scolding or even beatings, yet all he offered were hollow words—no action whatsoever. It was pathetically laughable.
This guy really wanted a wife for free!
"Hah!" Jiang Qianqian let out a bitter laugh, realizing just how foolish she had been to think he was good with words.
Oh, he was good, alright—good enough to have fooled her into blind devotion.
"Feng Wu, while I was fighting my parents, risking everything, you were having a great time, weren’t you? You knew I’d get scolded or beaten, yet you didn’t even have the courage to show up at my door. What exactly am I supposed to expect from you?" She exposed his hypocrisy without mercy, her voice dripping with scorn.
Feng Wu, who had always hidden his true nature well, flinched at her words. Before he could respond, a female classmate interjected.
"Jiang Qianqian, you’re being too harsh! It’s your family that’s the problem, yet you’re blaming Feng Wu. You have no idea how much he’s suffered because of you!"
"Suffered?" Jiang Qianqian couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. "I saw it clearly just now—you all laughing and chatting. Anyone would think you two were a couple..."
"Jiang Qianqian!" Feng Wu’s face darkened. "Stop jumping to conclusions! We came out as a group—why are you singling us out? Isn’t that going too far?"
"Me? Going too far?" Jiang Qianqian had never been more grateful for her loving parents. Without them, she’d probably be heartbroken right now.
Taking a deep breath, she fixed Feng Wu with a cold glare. "I came back to school yesterday. Want to guess what people told me?"
"They said you and someone else were inseparable. Care to explain, Feng Wu? Because I’d really like to know." There was no sadness in her voice—only the urge to tear him down.
Feng Wu hadn’t expected this twist. His gaze shifted uneasily. "That’s a misunderstanding. Everyone was just trying to cheer me up because they didn’t want me to be too upset."
"Jiang Qianqian, you don’t know how lucky you are! Feng Wu treats you so well, yet you’re still unsatisfied!" Another bystander spoke up, scolding her.
"Exactly! You came back to school and didn’t even look for Feng Wu. What’s that supposed to mean?"
"Maybe she’s found someone else. Everyone knows how obsessed she was with Feng Wu before."
The stream of criticisms didn’t anger Jiang Qianqian—it only made her gaze colder.
"Spending my money while expecting me to be the perfect little wife? That kind of ‘blessing’—you can have it." She stared straight at Feng Wu. "You owe me money. Pay me back. Surely, someone as noble as Feng Wu wouldn’t stoop to freeloading, right?"
The moment they heard Feng Wu had taken Jiang Qianqian’s money, his biased classmates froze, their view of him changed.
