Chapter 699
by 夏至三候Chapter 699
Planning to Buy a House
"It's been a few days. I was busy before. Uncle and Aunt came specifically to drop off some things for me." She explained briefly, not giving him time to ponder further, and quickly shifted from passive to proactive: "I heard from them that you and Su Jin haven't gotten married yet because you were waiting for me to return?"
Lu Ming quickly replied, "Yes, that's right. Both A-Jin and I thought the same way."
"'Both A-Jin and I thought the same way'—you've been seeing each other for so long, yet you keep putting off the wedding. What will people think of her? What if I never came back? Were you planning not to marry Su Jin at all?" Lin Nannan asked, exasperated.
These two were really worrying. She and Lu Hang were much better—less complicated.
"Of course not! We just felt it would be a regret if you weren't here. Besides, we’ve both been busy right now, so we thought waiting a little while wouldn’t be a big deal," Lu Ming hurriedly explained, afraid that his sister-in-law's anger would turn on him. If that happened, he'd definitely be the one to suffer.
"It might not hurt you, but Su Jin is a girl. If this goes on, people will talk about her. Hurry up and talk with the Su family to set a wedding date," Lin Nannan insisted.
Without hesitation, Lu Ming agreed, "Absolutely! Now that you're back, A-Jin and I will finalize the wedding. You and Big Brother should come back with Du Du then."
Lin Nannan, however, couldn't promise that, as she wasn't sure whether Lu Hang would have time or if he'd be assigned to a mission.
"You know how your brother’s work is—it's uncertain. Don't worry about us. If we can make it, your brother and I definitely won't miss it. But no matter what, your and A-Jin's wedding should come first. You must remember that, understand?" She emphasized this point heavily, worried that he might let Su Jin push him around and upset the Su family.
Perhaps delaying the wedding was Su Jin's idea, but if the Su family didn't know, they might think it was the Lu family's intention. That kind of conflict was no joke.
If Lu Ming took this seriously but Su Jin still didn't want to get married, things could get tricky.
She hoped it wasn't as she feared.
"Sister-in-law," Lu Ming suddenly said while she was lost in thought, "I understand. I’ll have my parents talk with the Su family. But what about the money you invested here? You should take it back, right?"
His sister-in-law was truly easygoing. She had invested so much money back then and never batted an eye, not even worried I’d run off with it.
"There's no hurry. You can just send it to me later," Lin Nannan said.
She didn't have any urgent need for it now. She had money on her, and Lu Hang’s been providing for her here, so she really wasn't concerned at the moment.
"You’re something else. Not even afraid I might take the money for myself," Lu Ming muttered.
"What's the big deal? At most, consider it our wedding gift to you two," Lin Nannan said dismissively.
"Sister-in-law, even if you dare to give it, I wouldn't dare take it. You have no idea how much we’ve made these past couple years. If you can't come back, I'll wire the money to you. As for the accounts, we can go over them when you’re back," Lu Ming said directly.
He was genuinely afraid his sister-in-law would follow through and give him all that money. He'd feel too guilty to take it.
Everything he had now was thanks to her. If he weren't grateful, he probably wouldn't even have a place in the Lu family.
Seeing how serious he was, Lin Nannan thought for a moment and said, "I trust you, so I won't check the accounts. As for the money... A-Ming, could you help me check out current housing prices? I'm planning to buy a house..."
