Medication
"What did the doctor say?" he asked, looking at Lin Nannan.
Lin Nannan took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, then repeated what the doctor had said, her tone grave. "In his current condition, we don't even know if he'll wake up."
"How is that possible?" Zhang Shengguo gasped, shocked and unable to accept it.
"The next few days are critical..." Lin Nannan trailed off, her eyes filled with helplessness.
Zhang Shengguo took a deep breath and reassured her, "A Hang recovered from being paralyzed before, so he can definitely pull through this. He's most worried about you and Du Du. Talk to him more—he’ll definitely hear you."
Lin Nannan turned away, unable to speak.
The atmosphere in the hospital room was heavy; everyone was preoccupied with worry but had no solutions.
The Lin brothers arrived one after another. They had been relieved to hear that Lu Hang was out of the resuscitation room, but upon arriving at the ward and learning that he was still unconscious and in critical condition, no one could muster a smile.
"Did the doctor say what to do?" Lin Kangsheng asked.
"The doctor just said to wait. They've used all the meds they can; there’s nothing else we can do!" Lin Shuang added.
The three brothers looked particularly grim.
"If he could recover from paralysis, he can definitely pull through this time too!" Lin Nannan said, as if encouraging herself while also trying to comfort everyone.
No one echoed her sentiment. Given the circumstances, everyone felt uncertain.
The atmosphere in the ward was somber. Not wanting to make Lin Nannan feel worse—since reassurances at a time like this only added to the distress—everyone left the room after a while.
Outside the ward, Lin Kangnian looked at Lin Nannan with a serious expression. "At a time like this, what are you still hung up on?"
Jiang Xiaomeng, who was going back to prepare a meal, suddenly appeared around the corner. Hearing Lin Kangnian’s question, she instinctively held her breath, paused, and didn’t move forward.
Lin Nannan glanced back with a conflicted look, hesitating as she said, "When something happened at home before, the medicine I gave Grandpa and Grandma kept them safe, that's why nothing serious happened. Now, with Lu Hang in this state, I have to use it. But once this medicine is used up, there won’t be any more."
"Even if it’s gone, that doesn't matter now. Right now, A Hang is unconscious. The doctor said if he doesn’t make it through the critical period, he might never wake up. You have to think about Du Du!" Lin Kangnian urged.
Lin Nannan bit her lip hard, her eyes reddening as she said, "I keep hoping he’ll wake up on his own…"
"To be safe, it’s better to help him recover sooner rather than risk permanent effects. You know about his previous injuries—if there are complications, it’ll be too late to regret it!" Lin Kangnian advised earnestly.
"Alright!" Lin Nannan made her decision and nodded. "Let’s use the medicine then."
Lin Kangnian let out a sigh of relief and reminded her, "Prepare it first. I’ll help you when it’s time to give it to him, so no one sees."
"Okay!" Once the decision was made, Lin Nannan felt a sense of relief.
"I wonder when we’ll be able to take Lu Dudu home," she said hopefully.
Lin Kangnian reassured her, "Once he takes the medicine and recovers, we can go home."
Looking at the unconscious Lu Hang, Lin Nannan sighed and said, "I hope so. I don’t want any more surprises."
Lin Kangnian followed her gaze and frowned. "Should I arrange for some people to come?"
After a moment’s thought, Lin Nannan replied, "Yes, post guards outside the ward. Don’t let any strangers in."
"Alright!" Lin Kangnian nodded.
After their conversation, Lin Nannan turned and sat back down beside the hospital bed, while Lin Kangnian left.
