Chapter 590

Adorably Baby-Talk
Lu Grandma said with a mix of amusement and exasperation, "I think she's just spoiled!"
The two sisters-in-law (wives of brothers) exchanged a glance and couldn't help but laugh.
"Dad, Dad," Lu Dudu, hearing their laughter, was immediately drawn in and asked her daddy to come over.
By now, she could already say "Mom" and "Dad" quite clearly. Unfortunately, neither he nor Lin Nannan had missed hearing her first words.
Lu Hang walked over with her. Lu Grandma stopped laughing as they approached, and the three of them looked up at Lu Dudu, who was sitting up high, wondering what she was up to. Then, in her adorable, milky voice, she called out, "Grammy!"
"Ah!" Zhang Xiaofeng instinctively responded. Realizing it was her granddaughter calling her, she was overjoyed. "Du Du, say it again…"
Seeing her grandmother’s smile, Lu Dudu giggled and kept calling out, "Grammy, Grammy, Grammy…"
From hesitant at first to fluent later, she felt a great sense of accomplishment, especially since her grandmother responded every time, which made her even more excited.
Lu Grandma and Pan Xiaoping watched with a touch of envy.
Lu Dudu’s voice was so milky-soft and adorable that hearing her call out made them want to give her everything.
But that wasn’t all. When Lu Fang returned and learned that his granddaughter could now say "Grandma" but hadn’t called him yet, he felt a twinge of heartache, complaining that he pampered her plenty too…
Lu Dudu, now able to say a few simple words, was eager to chatter. Though some words were still unclear, her family’s encouragement made her especially chatty. She even wanted someone to talk to her as she fell asleep, and so Lu Hang ended up bearing the brunt.
His precious daughter wouldn’t sleep and kept chanting "Grammy." Just as he was about to doze off, her little mouth would start calling "Baba," keeping him awake again.
After more than an hour of this, the little troublemaker finally fell asleep, lulled to sleep by his steady pats.
Gently patting her back, Lu Hang couldn’t take his eyes off her; he cherished her to the core.
Once he was sure she was asleep, he stopped patting, pulled the blanket over her, and gazed at his sleeping daughter under the soft light, feeling utterly content. Nothing else seemed to matter; only the person before him filled him with profound satisfaction.
He leaned down and kissed her forehead, then lay down himself, wondering if Lin Nannan would feel regret when she finished her work and discovered their daughter could already fluently say "Mom."
They had missed so many of their child’s firsts.
"Sweetie, just wait a little longer. Once Mom is done, we can bring you with us and watch you grow up slowly," he whispered, a deep sense of guilt washing over him.
They had truly fallen short for their child.
Lu Hang’s mood didn’t affect the child. Lying with arms and legs splayed out, Lu Dudu slept soundly, her little arms and legs moving occasionally without waking her. Having not taken care of a child in a long time, Lu Hang found everything about her utterly adorable. He couldn’t resist pinching her chubby little feet or kissing her tiny hands, wishing he could carry her around in his pocket…
Lu Hang didn’t know how long he lay there tangled in his thoughts before finally falling asleep. When he woke up, a pair of little hands were patting his face, forcing him to open his eyes. He was met with his daughter’s enthusiastic hug and her babbling: "Dad, Grammy, ah-woo ah-woo!"
This time, Lu Hang understood—she wasn’t calling for Grammy; she was asking for milk.
"How are you so clever?" he murmured, completely melted by her cuteness, and couldn’t help but hug her and give her another kiss.
